First! Let's go!

Valde

This was peak 😭

Ayoodude

Bleach and JJK ..it’s a great time for the Patreon gang 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️🙏

Chosos Wife

I really enjoyed this episode for numerous reasons. I loved the fact we get to see Megumi fight with all of his Shikigami instead of just the usual one or two. The way he used Gamma to pull him and that guy in opposite directions was so clever. I also loved the way it really highlights how opposite his approach is to Yuji. Yuji is actively going out of his way not to hurt people, meanwhile Megumi is smashing that guy repeatedly in the head with his sword and then slices his head in half and does not give 2 fucks.

Chosos Wife

I also really enjoyed Megumi v Reggie in the manga so I loved this episode and the next one is gonna be crazy. Seeing such extravagant grand displays of sorcery against each other, numerous objects and shikigami all over the place, compared to the usual fights was awesome.

Sky

Something tells me that Crunchyroll's publishing clock wasn't updated for the time change, lol. Had that spring forward several days ago and this episode drops an hour late, so that clock probably wasn't updated automatically. Yet another victim of daylight savings.

Chosos Wife

And TAKABA! I'M SO SO SO GLAD HE'S ARRIVED! I love him so much. He's so funny. Well, so unfunny that it makes it funny. I appreciate that mappa leaned into the awkwardness he brings. His character gets better and better. He's great. He's such a good addition to the cast where everyone is dying or killing each other and it's miserable and hes just the positive shining light

allen

YAY I LOVE YOU GUYS

Miitei

Japan doesn't have daylight saving so it makes sense. This was released at the same time as any other Thursday

Scared Cannon

Megumi Fushiguro you have to stop. you smoke too tough. your swag too different. your jujutsu is too good. they’ll kill you.

Connor O'Hara

oh Carter, you sweet summer child

Lorenzo

These cliffhangers will actually kill me man this is the worst edge

beannie

always bet on takaba

Night Sterling

Im glad they did Takaba justice 😂

Madison

MY GOAT TAKABA

Madison

takaba sends me every time he's perfect

Madison

ALSO PEAKKKKK BETWEEN MEGUMI AND REGGIE

Madison

excited for next week

JTUltima

Reggie could be so broken like just imagine if he went to a military base or something and stole a bunch of REAL weapons for his technique

Madison

jjk's humor has always been one of my favorite aspects of it 😭😭😭😭

Night Sterling

Takaba using forbidden jutsu’s like the madlad he is 😂

Ayoodude

This episode felt long in a good way. I feel like the last episodes have gone by so quick!

Pulse rifles suck in pve

what carter said about solo leveling is just correct and thats why its more popular. It isn't nearly as complex and its so much more digestible by way more people. They can just watch their weekly aura farm then call it a day. JJK is a bit deeper with its story, you have to pay attention a bit more to understand the power system, etc etc

Madison

high key one of my top episodes this season, I loved it

Sky

The domain situation is kinda complex, because barriers for domains aren't exactly logical the way you think they'd be. They don't necessarily have to take up the same amount of space outside the domain as they have to inside the domain. Pretty sure that, if you go back to the Gojo v. Jogo battle where they both use their domains, the barrier on the outside isn't nearly as large as it should be to fit their domains. Then you have the flip side where Sukuna's domain can exist without barriers by sacrificing the confinement for a much larger AoE. It's kind of a feel thing rather than something with a strict logic to abide by, so Megumi might be struggling with how much space he needs to use his domain effectively while actively confining it in a space that could require it to be smaller than it is. Especially since his domain is more of an arena like Jogo's rather than a one tap like Gojo's. Thus why he had to rely on a cave the first time and a building this time.

Kmoney

Yuki can use rct as well guys

Joie Dianzon 🇵🇭

Higuruma vs Yuji is my favorite episode. Takaba is so corny but I am laughing at the stupidity of it all. 😭 I agree with Cannon, I think Solo Leveling is mostly about the aesthetics which is common in South Korean shows while Japanese anime is something else. I used to think Carter is like Yuji, but I think Cannon is more close because they are both so animated with their reactions.

kai

takaba is so unserious jshejshdsg the awkward silence got me crying

Trae Young Supremacist

jjk is not underrated solo leveling is just not good but its flashy/popular, jjk has a better story than SL but even jjk isn't that great storywise compared to like naruto bleach death note hxh etc.

Nanami's Wife

I love Takaba😭, pulling a Kakashi on Naruto, thousand years of death😭😭

JPickup6

they've paused the solo levelling anime right before its already shaky story/character writing declines rapidly

Ayoodude

My favorite episode of this current season is definitely episode 1. Being brought back into the show, after being off for a while might have something to do with it, but I loved that episode.

Connor O'Hara

I feel like Solo Leveling never hit the insane hype that JJK has, and because of that it never had the backlash of haters that JJK has just because its so popular

Lorenzo

Jjk and solo leveling shouldn’t even be a debate. Solo leveling is a good show but its not memorable imo

Nanami's Wife

Wait, I thought we all collectively knew JJK is better than Solo?? I never even considered that as an option😭 I agree with Carter, Solo Leveling is more easily digestible vs JJK that has a more complex plot. JJK is written great but it has many flaws (if ykyk), so it hinders compared to the writing in stories like Naruto, HxH, One Piece, Bleach, etc. It is far from perfect, but JJK is still great and definitely written better than stories like Solo. I think Solo Leveling is just super flashy and straight forward. You can just turn off your brain with the show and enjoy it. It definitely got so much attention based off that and the great animation

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

I feel like I've been waiting for this to be animated for like 10 years

alex anderson

I think how I feel about a show, specifically shonen cause that’s what most of my viewing experience has been up until now, comes from if the fights, what shonen are known for, and the circumstances around them are predictable or not. By the end of Naruto, and this point goes for solo leveling too, the fights themselves became predictable. I think OG Naruto was less predictable then shippuden, but in general fights became predictable, and less tension and excitement was created for me. Jjk has created the right amount of tension and unpredictability the whole show, which is probably why I hold it in higher regard to the previously mentioned shows. Death Note I would say also has a level of unpredictability that would make me hold it to a similar regard as JJK.

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

I like Solo Leveling, but comparing it to JJK is bollocks 😩 Jjk is far from perfect, but the creativity and artistry is something else. Also the isolated character explorations are so well done and underappreciated in my opinion

Madison

solo leveling is good for what it is, but it just doesn't come close to jjk in my opinion

WhynefineT

Takaba is a very well respected character in the community. He might seem like a gag character but he's very important later on.

Madison

this season still has SOOOOOOOOOO much peak to come, it's genuinely insane, like mind boggling

WhynefineT

I hate comparing but solo leveling doesn't even have 1% of depth and effort jjk has put into it's writing.

Nanami's Wife

If there is someone out there that believes Solo is better than JJK, the first thing I’ll ask is “name 3 characters other than Sung Woo” *insert speed laughing face emote*😭

WhynefineT

Reggie is wearing a paper armor that was used in ancient china. They stacked 15 layers of mulberry bark soaked in tree sap and pressed to make a material so strong that it could stop arrows, blades etc.

Daniella

Takaba is so funny i like him already 😂

WhynefineT

Gun to your head "Name 5 solo leveling characters"

Mufufu

WE ARE NOT READY!!!!!

jed d'angelo

Carter if you think JJK animation is good week by week wait till you get to Wano in One Piece. I seriously don't know how they did it. That also includes the arcs after that as well. Im glad they decided to do it season based now going forward because the animators probably never saw their families.

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

This is so true. Can't think of a single side character that doesn't have the depth of a dried up puddle. Definitely can't remember their names

Matthew Hunt Davies🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The animation in wano has some of the most jaw dropping scenes. However saying its week to week isnt exactly true. Its usually average animation in a set of episodes and then one, or a few insane episodes, which repeats throughout the arc.

WhynefineT

You can see the hanamusubi knot in Megumi’s domain. Megumi’s name means blessing, hinting at protection or good fortune. The hanamusubi, also called the double butterfly knot, comes from the niwu-musubi style and traditionally represents good luck, often used in ceremonies to express hopes for positive events. The butterfly shape adds another layer of meaning. In Japanese symbolism, butterflies represent transformation and sometimes the transition between life and death. You can see this type of knot on the back of samurai armor and on omamori charms at shrines, where they are used for protection or to seal spiritual energy. Because of these meanings, the knot can be seen as a protective charm or wish, almost like placing a 'blessing' on someone.

E

jjk clears solo leveling, jjk honestly does everything better except aura farming.

Stephanos Stavrou

JJK Season 3 is way more hyped and popular than Solo Leveling Seaon 2. Each week the social media interactions, memes, etc. The numbers are huge. It's the most talked about anime in the world.

Stephanos Stavrou

you mean the last two episodes of Part 1 or you include Part 2 in that statement?

Conk

Mid Leveling never stood a chance 😂

Senbujohns

Glorious king Takaba has entered the fray. Bro these side characters are so GOATIE. You guys don't even know yet

This is Daniel

Amazing episode. Huge shock factor at Megumi going for the kill. Didn't think we'd ever see something like that in JJK, seems like we've upped the stakes. PS - Shoko (the doctor) also uses the reverse curse technique. PPS - the curse techniques are very similar / random to another very popular anime you've yet to watch 🤐

beannie

istg takaba is a walking jojo/one piece character, I love him

E L

Underrated? Really? I feel like JJK is the most popular anime airing at the moment. The memes alone are so widespread. Also, agree that it is miles better than SL. It has a lot of likeable and iconic characters compared to SL which only has Chinwoo.

WhynefineT

Underrated as in praise.

JevCor

3x9 is my favorite episode because of both what it meant to Yuji as a character and my goat Higuruma. The incredible fight was just the cherry on top.

WhynefineT

Do you guys seriously think higuruma won't return?

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

I think he means in terms of recognition as a quality anime and not just surface level hype. In that case I absolutely agree, because it's obviously super popular but it feels like it's not valued in the way it should be

E L

It gets praised a lot tho. On twt, on reddit, everywhere.

Musoko

I CAN FEEL IT, ITS ALL UPHILL FROM NOW ON FOR MY GOAT WEGUMIIIIIII

ur mom

Random bullshit go ahh technique

Nanami's Wife

Current One Piece animation is superb, literally has some of the best animation I’ve ever seen. However, the cinematography in JJK is exceptional. The main difference is JJK’s consistent with their animation direction throughout season 3. Versus One Piece, since there’s so many episodes, the animation is not as consistent. Like a normal episode in One Piece (with no fighting) has a standard good animation while JJK delivers even more on a normal episode. It sucks that JJK doesn’t get as much appreciation for a normal episode bc most of the fans clock out when there’s no fighting (ex: on IMDb episode 3 was rated a 7.7). I think with this new One Piece arc coming next month, the animation will be just as consistent as JJK rn. But I do have to say Wano animation is not above Culling Games animation, but it is close tho

kai

he is but he doesn’t aura farm better than jinwoo

Maj

WHY DO THEY KEEP EDGING US WITH THE RYOIKI TENKAIIIIIS

kai

megumi who ? baby that was toji zenin jr. this episode

Booger

Season 3 is my favorite so far and it’s not even close, shibuya was good but idk man this is another level

Rebecca

Why was I not expecting Megumi to pop off like that??? Also totally agree, these techniques have been crazy. This fight reminded me so much of HXH, but animated to oblivion

D1dus

I was kind of getting Joseph from him 😂

kivu_king

jjk is the only show u guys are watching right now that i care about

Beanpole

learn to love bleach

Madison

both haha

beannie

YESSS!! my silly king

Madison

these episodes are so rewatchable it's crazy

Hayden Ton

megumi couldn't disappear into the floor because the trucks broke the wall and the sunshine got rid of the shadows under him.

WhynefineT

Sl is basically just another fiction. Jjk is about critiquing Japanese faulty system and conservatism. There are so many themes that can you relate to. They're just not similar at all action aside.

Bambina

Guys maybe it’s because you’re avoiding TikTok and stuff so you’re not spoiled and your not getting up to date on the hype behind JJK that people create online, but JJK has extremely much more hype around it than Mid Leveling. Like it’s not even up to a debate 😭 I see how you could think it’s underrated in terms of praise, but this season is praised every week all around on social media. And of course, JJK as a whole is better than Mid Leveling by a mile

bondbond53

Guys you are genuinely tripping if you think JJK has less hype than Solo Leveling like what. On all social medias I can only see JJK and this season included is so so hyped everywhere

Patrick Bateman

26:49 Lol of course JJK is better Cannon, it is not even a comparison.

Patrick Bateman

Solo Leveling just fits casual watchers more, like Demon Slayer. Both of them basically have no plot but are just fun to watch and waste time lol

StrayRonin

Reggie’s technique is so random but man lowkey my favorite of the new gen sorcerers

Skyz

Dude what? Solo Levelling broke records with viewership, Season 2 was one of the most hyped seasons of anime. I prefer JJK but Solo Levelling was bigger at the time and also, JJK is airing right now of course it is more prominent on social media than a show that aired like 1 year ago. SL has the most viewed and most ratings of an episode in Crunchyroll history, if that's not hype idk what is.

walkman

Just watched the episode then immediately watched this reaction and both times it felt like it was only 10 minutes long. That’s when you know it’s peak. Also, Carter I think that Mahoraga take might be the worst take you’ve ever had

Latest

you can like jjk without shitting on solo leveling

Minco

When the 👁eyeball dropped, for a second I thought 🔨Nobara was back

Dakota

Dude the scene when Takaba showed up and tanked that explosion felt like it lasted 3 mins the first time I saw it 😂 everyone just standing there cringing while he’s bleeding was so funny. Megumi popping his ult at the end, let’s go. Also him just straight up killing that other dude was very unexpected. Did not expect that.

Benny

Okay this is wild 🙈

beannie

JJK is overhated, not underrated. It’s really good, but the fandom is filled with idiots who love to rage bait people online lmao

Marcus D

Sorceror Reggie Star= Register as in store register with Receipts… Good one Gege👌

Rei

This so peak im in tears

Marcus D

JJK is not underrated. Actually the most overrated anime at the moment😂. But still I’m loving JJK atm

Marcus D

Lots of potential?

Luke Fox

Not overrated at all, its a perfect adaptation and its doing techniques with its animation no other show is doing at the moment

jared

I never said I didn't have any big moves 💀 such a treat to see megumi in action and love every word he says and all of his expressions there is so much here and in the whole season, it's epic and hilarious and beautiful and shocking and profound it's a very hard choice but I think episode 4 may be my favorite so far, though episode 9 is close behind; it's all gold

Marcus D

Plenty of anime do what they’re doing. The only fair oddity JJK has had is that Chinese animator from the higuruma fight. The season and directing has been phenomenal but to say no one has done what they’ve done is what the overrating is. Saying a series is Overrated isn’t a knock on the series, it’s a criticism about the viewers. Also I’d say Fate strange fake, is very comparable to JJK s3 in terms of animating and directing quality.

Grae

Iori is like a more intense Mr. 5

Grae

Mr. 5 if he locked in

Trae Young Supremacist

it is definitely overrated. 95% carried by animation and "aura", the writing isnt that great. even in your response the first and only thing you mentioned was animation

Snow

100% Overrated, Overrated doesn't mean bad, but ask yourself this. If JJK didn't drop in 2020 when everyone was home and trying to find something to watch, do you REALLY think it would have gotten the hype and praise it's been getting? Or would it have been seen as another Shonen entering the scene

Stephanos Stavrou

"Writing isn't great". This is obe of the worst and most lazy critiques someone makes about JJK. Explain how can they introduce a new character in Hiromi Higuruma in two episodes and almost everyone love the character, connect with him and become invested in so little time if the JJK is all about action and fights and not about the story?

NMP

One think JJK has on most other animes is the amount of memorable and lovable characters it has. I mean it’s genuinely absurd when you sit down and think about all of them and how many end up being loved/iconic/memed in pop culture. Compared to its main “competition” in Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man it’s not even close. Even now in the Culling Games Gege is CONSTANTLY shoving new characters and techniques down your throat and it’s crazy how fast they all cement themselves in the story, like Naoya, Hakari, Higuruma, Takaba.

E L

I can’t move on from Takaba, his jokes are so unfunny that they’re unironically hilarious. 😂

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! Takaba was so funny

Noah Brown

Mckay please forgive I'm super late to this one

kuza

that cliffhanger is nasty work

kuza

takabas fit is diabolical

kuza

im down for solo leveling hate

Jonas Teigen

Yeah, JJK is definitely better than solo leveling, but both are very good, but also extremely overrated imo

Jonas Teigen

JJK is on a different level when it comes to weekly production quality. Not many anime are hitting that level of directing or animation anytime soon tbh. We’re way too spoiled at this point.

Bambina

I’m sorry, I don’t like it and I think I’ve kept it pretty respectful

mako_

MEGUMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

E L

chinwoo’s aura farming is cringe imo but he can have that since it’s all he has. lol

Sky

Solo Leveling feels like a show that would have been at the very top of its class had it come out within a few years of Sword Art Online, but nowadays it just feels like a competently made show that is simply enjoyable to watch. It can't hold a candle to the pure storytelling of a Frieren and MAPPA feels like they're really pushing the artform from a cinematic perspective with JJK where you can really easily recall certain shots and directing choices in a way I honestly can't with SL. People accuse JJK of being popcorn anime/manga, but I'd say it has more going for it from a narrative perspective than that gives it credit for. It's not a masterclass in storytelling, but the worldbuilding and characters feel infinitely more dynamic and fleshed out than SL's.

stako

MAPPA is #1 and it's actually not close. Their creativity mixed with the quality is unmatched bro.

Etain

the opening discussion LOLOL. This episode was too peak. You guys caught on way faster on the little details than I did on the first watch. I was too amazed at what was going on to even notice those details haha. Higuruma is my fav episode. Also i think Gege was influenced by a lot of other animes, he def incorporated little details from here and there into jjk

Etain

omg totally saw toji and maki int his episode. The genes are strong in this one

Bourgeoisie

Takaba just letting it hang out

Mei Nano

That silence was loud😔

Sari-chan

I was sleepy but absolutely wanted to watch this episode, it got me awoken!!! perfect level of worry, fun, cringe and cool!

Sari-chan

The name Reggie is also not random, it stands for register, like cashier lol. So funny to me!

WhynefineT

There's something especially sad about the first fight taking place in a childhood bedroom. The moment we step outside, Megumi takes a life for the first time. The depth of jjk storytelling is so underrated.

LuvStarburst

Those fights were amazing, and I was really surprised by the half-naked guy and how he opened up with that kick to the face. I'm so curious about how Megumi's final product of his domain expansion will look when it's completed.

Mr. John Kagurabachi

Chat jjk isn’t as hyped this season. Y’all are just artificially seeing it be hyped cuz it’s on your social media algorithm LOL. People exist outside of your own pov with their own feeds you know? Solo Leveling was more mainstream and more hyped simply based off the facts of viewership. This can’t be debated, it’s a fact lol

kuza

carter if u wanna feel real spoiled along with jjk and frieren u could be watching fate strange fake js saying… 👀👀👀

me? a potato

Small correction: Reverse Cursed Technique is an old technique with no change in name, so yeah old sorcerers can use them

ThatJakeChap

If you're responding to a critique, you've also got to say why it is great. Just because you like a character, doesn't mean the show has good writing. I love JJK but Gege is an objectively bad storyteller. He's well known for wanting to kill off characters just cause he doesn't like them or because they became more popular than the characters he likes most, instead of for a narrative or character-building perspective. Season 2 implements an ungodly amount of flashbacks in its story telling which when done sparingly, helps to add to the narrative and character development but it is terrible writing when that is all you do for the majority of the story. Unfortunately season 2 does the latter. Good stories build and develop characters as the story goes. They don't introduce a character and give you their whole backstory in one episode and then kill them and expect everyone to care. It's objectively bad story telling. Even some of the main characters like Nobura were done dirty by this when they could have spent 2 seasons building her character better instead of throwing a flashback in at the end to make us care. However, I will give you in the case of Higuruma they told his story very well. I normally wouldn't have gone into anywhere as much detail but the guy had very fair critque which you appear to have taken personally and dismissed just because you are a big fan. Once again, I am also a big fan but even I can tell most of this show has poor story telling.

Marcus D

It’s really hard to choose my favourite episode of the season. I loved the first two episodes but I’d say it’s between episode 9 and 10

alizé

thinking mahorga isn’t coming back is funny considering that’s probably the only reason why sukuna is keeping him alive

Nonos

Perfectly said

Jnasty

why would you spoil that

alizé

sukuna literally already said it… AND itadori alr knows there’s a reason why he’s interested…. it’s common sense why he’s interested because we saw how excited he was fighting mahoraga …

alizé

also why i said probably if u can’t read

Jnasty

Spoiling an entire plotline and then saying it might not be true is still spoiling lmao. They clearly don't know and even say at 1:58 NOT to confirm or deny whether he comes back. You are being a hindsight merchant

alizé

I said probably because I myself haven’t read the manga therefore I do not know... , that was just my speculation…I’m in the same boat as them and yea i didn’t hear them say part that cuz i skipped past the 2 minute mark … YOU said i spoiled it as if it were true … so that’s on you not me …

Jnasty

It is a spoiler because it is true

Pennny

if anything ur reply is what confirms or doesn't confirm it

Pennny

y'all ever realize his name is "Reggie Star" as in "register" cool word play considering his abilities

Nahgi

I definitely like episode 4 the most even my favorite character isn't Maki or Mai. That was sad but so satisfied and artistic episode. Mappa never betrayed you.

𝕯𝖎𝖆𝖓𝖆 𖤐

delete all of this its spoilery, making hints to thing are you know are the main plotline is STILL spoling

alizé

such an idiotic thing to say when I'm in the same boat as them, "making hints to things you already know" , No... I'm making speculations to things that they've already shown.... maybe you just didn't watch the show... 💀

WeightOfTheWorld2049

Is it okay to jump straight into 'fake' or we need to watch the previous fate shows?

kuza

you should watch the main fate series to understand the show properly and they are great watches anyways , order would be fate/zero -> fate/stay night unlimited blade works -> fate heavens feel movie trilogy , shows may get confusing at times but u can do ur research on certain things, but also for fate strange fake its probably best to also watch fate babylonia because some knowledge from that will definitely help for strange fake although ive never watched fate babylonia i had to ask around/look up some things to understand a part of strange fake, i wouldnt say babylonia is NEEDED though

Jeff

I think solo leveling has the extreme hype from shock factor moments that happen during fights, but overall past that its not that deep? Your dopamine gets fired up from those quick shocking flashy back and forth things.

Jnasty

You responded to what they were saying, so no, you didn't skip two minutes in. Your comment comes across as someone who knows the series, and the "probably" suggests there are other reasons besides the one you mentioned. If you truly haven't seen the series, then my b; just goes to show how bad the writing for JJK is.

alizé

ur still yapping abt this

notchrisramirez

"Why bring [Mahoraga] back? It's already the pinnacle of what its gonna be".... heheheheheheheehehehehehehe

Tivy

I FINALLY FINISHED THE SEASON! I don’t know why it took me so long, I’ve actually enjoyed this one a lot. So now I’m catching up with your reactions! Love the hype you all have for this show, lowkey makes me enjoy it even more.

DonDuh103

Dude threw Diddy oil on Megumi???

DonDuh103

Reggie has infinite utility?????

Ser Dunk the Tall

The animation in Season 3 feels like Thunderclap Part 2 but spread out across the whole season.
