Def recommend doing a Mix oof normal and One Pace for this, One Pace gets SUUUPER aggressive with its cuts here removing even some pretty significant stuff and just kinda ruining the overall flow of a lot of scenes, Especially toward the end of the arc.

Just me being a med nerd and nerding out. RH+/RH- is just the proper way of saying positive or negative blood type. So Sanji is just S- blood type. Negative meaning he doesn't carry RH factor, just like we can be positive or negative for it. I'm guessing in one piece, S blood type, since it is said to be their rarest type this episode, is just like our O type. So Sanji is the equivalent of O-.

Ironically the sensation/experience that Cannon is trying to describe at the beginning is "a fish out of water" which is just being in a completely foreign environment where you don't know how anything works. It's also in that same way what Carter was describing, because every time the Strawhats come to a new island it's like a whole new world isolated world to discover and learn about. This experience is so popular in media that I would say it's the basis for the isekai genre, which is all about being taken to another world, which people love because we all love learning about a new world and how it all works.

McKay is unfortunately correct on the visual production looking worse than Pre-TS. For a good chunk of Post-TS, the general character art and colour palette has a noticeable decline in quality. The background/landscape art however is still great. The fight scenes animation have lower lows but also some higher highs than Pre-TS, and they slowly improve overall with each arc. The music and voice acting remain goated. There will be some episodes where the visuals look sub-par, but there will also be episodes (mainly the important eps) where the production cooks and shows that Toei can be great when they want to be. If you guys ever watch any of the Post-Timeskip movies, you will see where most of Toei's budget/time/staff went because the movies all have amazing quality.

this was like 3 episodes btw which i like. but there were some questions you guys asked that would have been answered in the OG episodes. not sure if this is one pace or not but some stuff was cut i noticed. some very minor stuff but not the biggest deal but just pointing it out since i heard you guys asked some questions that would have been answered if it wasn't cut. i think it was only like a quick 2-3 minutes you guys missed like very minor. but i do like this version of it feels very smooth.

While AB- is the rarest genotype, I’m assuming in the one piece world it’s similar to us as well, which means it would also contain a mix of two types. Since it’s stated it’s hard to obtain, it must be similar to O-. O- is universal donor, but can only receive from O-. Sanji can only receive S-. If he was like similar to AB-, he could receive from O-, A-,B-,AB-, making it less hard to find and him to receive. So it’s gotta be O-. Not “rarest”, but hardest to get blood for, so “rare” in that sense, just like us.

I know it's a running joke at this point due to how the reactions played out but regarding not being able to fix the Merry's keel, I think it was said in the episode that replacing the keel would essentially mean you would have to replace everything on the ship as it hinges on the unique shape of the keel-peice. So they would have essentially had to rebuild the Merry from scratch with new materials. It would look like the Merry but it wouldn't actually be it, and it was said the crew would be able to feel the difference. Since we also found out a well-taken care of ship kind of houses it's own soul it wouldn't really be the Merry in the end. I guess replacing the keel kind of replaces the part that houses the soul of the ship? That's how I understood it at least.

Interesting for me rewatching this arc now. I binged to this arc, in like a few weeks😭, back in highschool lmao. I ended up dropping the show then as it was the first time I felt a lull in my want to continue watching. Years later, a buddy of mine finally coerced me to jump back in. It definitely gave me a new perspective watching after so long (One Pace this time)...but still one of my least favorite arcs and artstyles for the series. With that said, rewatching with you guys now is a blast and still lots of important stuff here, enjoy the journey fr. Everything from this point on only builds on the depth/worldbuilding alr established. Much love, excited how far you guys getting😁

The keel is the first piece of a ship so in order to replace it the entire ship would have to be deconstructed. This concept of whether or not it would be the same ship is actually a well known paradox called The Ship of Theseus/Theseus's Paradox. I am personally of the opinion that no, it's not the same ship if all parts are replaced. Every piece of wood is unique, you will never get the exact same ship no matter how closely the parts are replicated.

Fishman Island is fine. I like it, though it is my least favorite arc after the timeskip and it doesn't make my overall top 11 arcs, so I'm really curious to see how you guys experience this arc and the ones to come. I've followed 4-5 reactioners in this arc and most of them have generally enjoyed this arc by this point because they love One Piece so much (with 6 episodes drop a week). Two of the reactioners didn't enjoy it as much and were mildly annoyed by Sanji, so there's that. Personally, I binged it the first time around so I never got to dislike the arc. I could only see why others didn't when I watched it through their eyes, honestly. Since you're one pacing it and you already enjoy it so far, I can't wait to see more. I'm sure it'll have a positive impact on yall.

Have mixed feelings about this arc. It's definitely not the worst, but it's also middle-of-the-road. The blood transfusion is an ancient law humans created, and the Fishman just enforces it on their end. Reverse racism would mean they systematically sold humans as slaves in Fishman Island as well. The fishmen are just prejudiced and wary of humans because of oppression, which makes sense.

yes i have watched this arc and i guess you could say i've also lived this arc since it greatly reflects racism which i have experienced. history always repeats itself. Even in our own history here in the US blood was segregated. we all have the same blood types but they still segregated it. they probably wouldn't be able to get a blood donation if they were on land. even when Hacchin got shot they talked about how gross he was bleeding on the floor like he was dirty just for being a fishman, like his blood was dirty.

One Pace also skipped the crew begging fishmen to donate blood but them all refusing. Highkey felt like that would have added to the experience rather than detract from it. One pace hits and also misses. It’s not all perfect. One Pace defenders when they hit episode 1015 and the entire episode is not in the manga 🤯

@ahmad Yeah, exactly. People who don’t like One Pace always bring up things like episode 1015 and say they ruined it and so on. But if they actually looked into it, they’d realize there are extended cuts for some arcs. And episode 1015 is literally kept exactly the same as the original from Toei Animation like you just said. But they won’t mention that.

Little misleading, they aren’t the same. Japanese phonetics works usually in syllables so NA and MA are different letter, I think you mean the letter N by itself which can also sound like an M when between other “syllables” or japanese letters. Unless I’m missing something.

IMO most arcs in One Piece are fine. Some are better than others ofc, but the main issue and the reason some arcs are considered terrible is bad pacing. If you're watching with One Pace, that isn't an issue.
