Okay I have a big heads up for you guys. We all know that the next arc in the anime is a filler arc and you guys are skipping it. WELL the anime tried to canonize some filler characters to the anime by having them in the next arc. You'll see 3 Mod Souls (What Kon is) be with the gang for a bit until they get phased out. They have their own stuff animal bodies too. My favorite is the turtle :)) I'm just telling you now so youre not completely confused in the next canon arc.

Hi, Geks) If you want to get more CANON materials, understand Bleach better and on a deeper level, right after episode 63, check out: 1. Chapters -12.5/169, "Blooming under a cold moon" and -16/-016, "To Die on an ice field". These chapters were NEVER adapted into episodes. 2. Episode 227, "Wonderful error". This episode is an adaptation of a few bonus chapters. 3. The movie Memories of nobody. This movie contains some canon material that is important to the story ( Not the entire movie is canon, as the anime staff didn't faithfully adapt Kubo-sensei’s original ideas). 4. The light novel The honey dish rhapsody. Kubo-sensei co-wrote this novel, as he has with all Bleach novels. Unfortunately, it does not have an official English translation, but there're good fan translations available. Most people watch those episodes with Aizen and misinterpret a lot of things and they usually have to watch them multiple times before they have the correct interpretation of things. He's still living with his survivor's guilt of not being able to protect his mom but his line to rukia 'thanks to you, the rain has stopped' shows that he was finally able to save someone this time. #cinema also for me personally, soul society is my third fav arc in bleach!

I assume y'all are skipping the horrendous filler arcs, with the Bount arc (eps 64-109) being the worst of them all (they all suck tho). The discussion at the end was very interesting for me cuz it makes total sense to wonder how the "middle" of the series can match the Soul Society arc and the praise that TYBW has... But starting with the next canon arc, Arrancar (ep 110) through the Karakura arc (which the dude in the cap named, so it's not a spoiler) is 100% on par overall. Soul Society hooks you as a murder mystery, but Arrancar hooks you with new characters that matter, more story progression, 1v1 payoffs, and a new OST that I'd say is the peak of the entire series. For me, the Arrancar arc slightly tops the Soul Society arc.

I want to say the main reason people say pacing is bad is because of fillers. But I am also a massive Bleach fan so I have bias. I also enjoyed the Bleach filler arcs aside from 1. I do remember some stuff slowing down in parts though. You guys are really the only ones who can decide if the pacing is bad for you or not.

also canon to answer your question about how byakuya's wife got sick, the people in the rukongai with low spiritual energy fall ill easily/can't survive, they kinda showed that with rukia and renji when they were kids that they were stronger than most of the surrounding people and had high spiritual energy

Also people can say their own takes about the next arc, but it's the undisputed SAUCIEST arc in Bleach by far. And with the end of Soul Society arc if you guys want to watch the first Bleach movie, Memories of Nobody, it's generally safe to do so too.

Hot take: I like other arcs more than the Soul Society arc. TYBW might become my favorite arc if the anime fixes the chapters left to adapt. Kubo got rushed hard at the end of the manga. It's unofficially confirmed that we're gonna get new content for the anime because the remaining chapters to adapt can only make 5-6 episodes. I AM HYPED THIS SUMMER!

One of the best arcs in the Big Three, an S-tier arc. I love how Kubo introduces soooo many characters in this arc and still makes u like almost everyone, giving everyone some depth and a moment to shine. It's also so well written with the dialogue, moments, and foreshadowing, especially on a rewatch. It's just so good, and it's not even my fav arc in Bleach, and my fav is not TYBW btw. I am excited for the next arc🔥🔥🔥

It depends. As a conplete package soul society is at the top, at least top 3 in the show. Tybw is similar, in the sense that it hits so many different "genres", in one arc. The next arc is one of my favourites because it slows down and focuses on characters relations and their feelings, but it also has fights, of course. The last arc of the og anime is a psichological thriller, another is an all out war and one is a flashback arc that gives us a lot of needed answers. The last two won't include a crazy fight every other episode, because it doesnt need too. They have an objective, it's less action and more story, lore, etc. I know a lot of people online who don't like the last og arc because there's basically no major fights until the end of the arc, a few even skip it and call it filler and go straight into tybw, an action packed arc.

Unless those comments explicitly hinted at a change in the character’s personality, I don’t think it’s hindsight merchanting to say you liked a character even when they were still portrayed as ‘bad.’ People can like an antagonist long before any redemption or character development happens. Byakuya was considered cool by a lot of fans even before he saved Rukia.

Seriously, the upcoming ost is PEAK. Spoilers: While I do think the upcoming arcs are good, the only one that is as consistently good as the Soul Society arc is TYBW. I love the Arrancar arc, but man does it drag at times. The highs are so good tho. Fullbring arc is definitely overhated tho. I like that arc a lot actually.

Just a heads up most of episode 109 is filler, you can honestly just skip it. The only thing that really "matters" is the last 10 seconds of the episode. Starting at episode 110 is when the next arc officially starts anyway.

In naruto when we meet gaara hes straight up a villain, but he's entartaining and cool so people like him. When I was watching the arc gin was menacing and bad, but being bad doesn't mean people won't like you. Me personally i liked him a lot, everytime he was on screen the scene got 10 times better

@Jeff Yeah I can agree with that, it definitely does give the impression that the character will be somewhat significant or relevant to the story. I do think its best to say nothing at all, but simply stating that you like someone shouldn't be taken that deeply or as proof that this character will eventually have their arc. First impressions are important particularly in stories like these, and Byakuya's was very impactful. He has a great design, cool power, and strong screen presence, which grew the more we saw him. Its easy to like him before knowing anything about him, same with Aizen or Urahara. But even with all that said, the comments should be more careful without going into much

35:51 In this scene when Urahara offers help to Rukia you can see she's wearing the white robes which is what she has on after Ichigo takes all of her spirit energy. It confirms that the gigai with the hogyoku is given to Rukia after Ichigo gains his powers, which is why it was still embedded in Rukia's soul when Aizen retrieved the hogyoku

Personally I think the rest of Bleach does drag a little in comparison to Soul Society Arc. There are some high peaks, but the in between isn't nearly as tight as Soul Society. The next arc in particular is the longest in the series and gets broken up by like two separate filler arcs it goes on THAT long. Overall Bleach is still probably my favorite of the big 3, but I am a little worried you guys are gonna lose it a bit going into the middle of the series. The end of the original anime is peak though and TYBW is even better so it's all worth it imo.

Spoilers: Only good things in Arrancar are Ichigo vs Grimmjow and Ichigo vs Ulquiorra. Rest is all villain of the week type shit with different matchups and they all drag. Fake Karakura arc is kinda only good at the end when Ichigo shows up. Agree Fullbring is way overhated and is honestly probably 2nd favorite of the original anime after Soul Society. Tight well told narrative with stakes and emotion unlike the previous two for the most part lmao

I agree. I lovee soul society but a personal favorite of mine is the next arc, after that while not perfect it has higher peaks that ss, imo. Turn back the pendulum is a nice change of pace from the fights and it gives you answers and more questions somehow.

I love the next arc in the manga but imo the anime does have pacing issues. I know people keep saying it's not too bad compared to one piece, but i haven't watched one piece in years and i onlyy made it to ep 500something, so i can't really compare. I love bleach, it's one of my top 3, but i really struggle with the pacing sometines and I've also seen other reactors struggle after the soul society arc. Another thing that "concerns" me is Cannon also brought up that the timing needs to get better for the comedy....

Out of the big 3, bleach is the more mature, that may be the appeal, compared to the heavy “power of friendship” stuff that Naruto provides and the goody antics of one piece. It’s hard to really compare arcs between the 3 because they all have very different feels

Pacing might be the determining factor, but it ruins the experience compared to Soul Society. After watching TYBW it becomes clear how good it could have been if it was adapted with more care, though.

Honestly it’s top 5 in all of anime for me. RTS (aot), Marineford, Soul Society, Shibuya incident, and farmland arc. Soul society is pretty much nonstop action and hype that keeps topping itself for 30 episodes straight. Every character is awesome every fight is sick and there are so many twist. And to top it off we get one of the GOAT villains ending the arc by no diffing the main character. Anyone that doesn’t have SS at least top 10 is flat out wrong.

I've loved your guys reactions so far and I think you're gonna love what is coming now Also remember, a big thing people in general disliked about Bleach back in the day was that it had long filler arcs, and even then it was still called one of the Big 3. Now if you're skipping these big filler arcs, you just get the canon content back to back with usually solid pacing.

I will say the soul society arc is probably the most consistent arc in terms of pacing aside from tybw. The padding in canon arcs really drags and unfortunately we don’t have bleach pace 😭 but it’s nothing you guys aren’t used to. I think the peaks are higher in certain arcs but soul society may be your favourite for a while. Very excited for what’s to come and thanks for the triple drop :)

Soul Society is not heaven, it’s where human souls go after death but most of the residents especially the captains are Souls (a race unique to Soul society) that were born either in the rukongai (Zaraki, Renji etc) or the Sereitei (the fancy place where soul reapers live, The nobles like Byakuya, Shunsui, Yoruichi etc). Rukia is the only soul reaper we know who was once human but died and was sent to Soul society.

But if you guys want to rewatch the Ichigo memories in the rain flashback, I recommend watching the memories in the rain OVA cause it's closer to the manga without the random filler the anime has

to be honest ya i've come across plenty of people who's favorite arc in OG Bleach isn't Soul Society. Soul Society is one of my favorite arcs of all time but so are some of the future arcs. Some of the most iconic moments and stretches of the series are still in between this and TYBW

Not sure if you know this Geks but going off of your comments regarding Bankai; a Bankai is a state, not a one time attack. Ichigo was already in his Bankai state when he came to save Renji and Rukia from Aizen because he never "turned it off" after his fight with Byakuya. But once he has it "on" he (or any person with Bankai) doesn't really need to say "Bankai" again unless it's to reactivate it.

It should be noted that Urahara gave Rukia the gigai with the hogyoku hidden away AFTER she gave Ichigo her powers, so Ichigo didn't take any portion of it when he first became a shinigami
