bleach is my favorite anime of all time out of the 326 i have watched BUT back in 2015 when i first started bleach when i didnt know what filler is i watched the bount arc and midway through almost dropped the show with how boring it was. and then i googled why it sucks and found out what filler is and skipped it

Last year I finally got my younger brother to start bleach after I spent years trying to convince him even though he knew it’s my favorite anime. He loved it and now it’s his favorite as well, so he convinced 3 of his friends to watch it: two of them carefully followed the filler list and now have bleach in their top 5; the other one forgot to check the filler list, ended up watching almost all the bount arc and got so burned out that he dropped the show and never came back to it. Thats the bount effect.

Bount Arc is genuinely 2/10. There are some Bleach fillers that are absolute bangers though. Two of them in particular. And one of them is actually Semi-canon as Kubo enjoyed it so much he made one of the parts in it official (won't say more to avoid spoiling). A lot of reactors actually go back and watch those two filler arcs after catching up with the main story.

But I watched back when you couldn’t just skip fillers and didn’t even know what was or wasn’t filler. This arc has quite a few really exciting and hype moments, but it was honestly one of the harder arcs to watch because there are parts where the pacing slows down a lot. Still, if you push through those sections, you’ll get to see a lot of peak moments.

Honestly, I never understood why people are so loud about Bleach filler arcs instead of just telling new viewers to ignore the leftovers from those arcs. It creates way more apprehension for new viewers, especially those who are used to the pacing of recent anime. People use the “it’s filler” excuse so quickly to justify dropping Bleach, but I think it mostly depends on how much you like the universe itself. Back then, I didn’t even know filler episodes existed I was just happy to have new episodes. I don’t really want to compare, but with Naruto, which I only like casually, the filler arcs made me quit so many times without even realizing that they were filler.

It's just not canon, and not as good as canon, and there are far more interesting filler arcs later on, but also if you want high quality filler for a show, that's what the movies are for. i love how subtle kubo’s writing is kisuke said himself at the beginning of the story that ichigo has his own soul reaper powers after rukia was taken away. byakuya basically broke the same chunk of power that belongs to rukia, where else did ichigo get that innate soul reaper power from ? it was hinted all along

I watched both Naruto and Bleach fillers and the Bount arc was the worst filler I’d ever seen. It actually made me take a break from watching Bleach. It doesn’t help that the filler characters have so much screen time in these two episodes, I’ve never seen that in Naruto. Also I think the momentum from the soul society arc died since the filler arc was so long and that’s why it’s hated.

Back when I didn’t really know or care what a filler was, I watched all before stopping after this arc. When I came back to bleach I decided to rewatch the whole thing with my mother. She liked bleach but stopped caring half way through the bount arc. I haven’t gotten her to pick it back up with me since, but I went on to finish the main series a year or two after on my own. I skipped the filler and even started watching thousand year blood war. I am still watching it, and I am surprised with how much peak I missed and have no idea how I played so many bleach games without getting spoiled. I grew up only having seen the first two seasons of bleach as they were all that was available on netflix at the time. It became one of my Favorites that I liked to rewatch alongside Sword Art Online, and Death Note. All three I watched dubbed since I couldn’t even read yet at the time, let’s just say it’s been a long time coming.

Honestly the concepts for the bleach fillers were fine e.g bounts, zanpakuto arc (can’t say the rest cuz of spoilers). It’s just the execution and pacing that killed it for me so I just skipped them all. Naruto arcs on the other hand were either super fun or somewhat interesting like the third tails arc

Hey guys, here's a quick recap: The filler arc begins with the introduction of three new modified souls made by Urahara that can be placed in Gigais or stuffed animals, just like Kon. Urahara explains that he gave the three modified souls the ability to detect the new villains, the Bount. They are a group of people who can live forever by absorbing souls (kinda like vampires). The gang tracks down and fights a couple of them. It is revealed that they need a Quincy for their plans. But Ishida's powers are gone, so... 😶 Eventually, the gang finds the Bount's base. Ichigo can't activate his Bankai for some BS reason, so when he fights their leader Jin Kariya, he gets his a$$ kicked. Meanwhile, Ishida is confronted by the Lieut. of Squad 12, who gives him a bow that temporarily restores his powers. Ichigo fights Kariya again, but this time he manages to activate his Bankai and they fight evenly. Finally, Ishida arrives and shoots an arrow into a gate the Bount had previously created, allowing them to enter the Soul Society, which was their goal all along. That's when things start to get interesting. The problem is that it takes 28 f***ing episodes to get there 😵😵

Btw you guys were confusing grand fisher with another hollow, the thing that clicked its tounge and send mini bombs (the one rukia and chad fought before ichigo came and killed it) that is the hollow that got sent to hell. Grand fisher is the one that killed his mom and they fought in episode 9 where grand fisher runs away after getting slashed once by ichigo.

fr, there is a reason why studio pierrot is known for absolutely butchering series and going off script. Of course here with bleach putting filler characters in cannon episodes and cutting important moments as well as adding their own. Of course also their most notable tokyo ghoul legit creating a different story after season 1😭

the dark hair of Uryu`s father was an animation mistake. Will never be adressed again. This is one of many mistakes that made Kubo mad at the start and started taking more control of the direction. Many smaller mistakes that seems inconsequentional now, but will have meaning later that the studio took creative liberties in changing without the authors approval. Mainly in censorship and changing dialogue. It will only bother you a tiny bit if you are nitpicking later, but i can understand why its making Kubo`s stomach ache as wanting his work to be given the attention to detail it deserves

I mean the adaptions and OSTs and what they created in general is elite tough especially for their time. They are quite literally the Mappa of the 2000s. Just the decisions of filler back in the day was more of an industry mistake and whoever is in charge of the actual decisions.

Filler in bleach was in my opinion always more tolerable than anything Naruto at the time produced for filler. Sure, it's a step or two down from the Soul Society Arc, but it did have a nice fight to cap it off. I'd give it a 6.5/10 which to me means I'd watch it once but I'd skip it on every rewatch 100%. I respect others in the community ranking it lower, it's just my own opinion that I'm not looking to push onto anyone :)

My gateway anime was Prince of Tennis in high school. I didn’t know about filler episodes, so I watched them all and loved it. Then I moved on to Bleach, thinking every episode was part of the main story. Since I wasn’t aware of fillers, I watched everything and enjoyed it. Bleach remains my top anime, and I was thrilled about the new season with updated animation.

I only watched the bount arc once when I was 14 back in 2007. I thought it was fucking awesome at the time. But I think that's because I'm a fan of vampires and they are vampire-esque, but also because I was a little 14-year-old dumbass who didn't know the difference between good and bad media. I have virtually no memory of what even happened. I just remember the main villain.

Most sharp reactors notice that when they see this episode. Honestly I was very upset when you guys didn't notice that very obvious clue . So I don't think I'm spoiling anything. It's so unbelievably obvious that Isshin is a former captain. And if this isn't enough for you, I'll explain it to you further. Every single soul Reaper you have ever seen in the entire show wears a black outfit. And every single Captain has a white Overcoat that goes over the regular black outfit. This should be something in the Forefront of your mind when it comes to looking at soul reapers. Normal Soul Reapers have black outfits. Captains have a white overcoat. Isshin has a tattered white Overcoat tied to his shoulder, indicating that he is a retired former captain. I don't think this is spoilers. This is something you should know. Somehow you have four separate brains, and you still weren't able to come up with the same conclusion that nearly everyone comes to when seeing soul reaper Isshin for the first time. At least try to pay attention for God's sake.

IIRC the first few episodes after the filler ends were still directed by the filler's "B Team" so to speak, hence the poor animation and super awkward episode direction. You will see a marked increase in both animation quality and storyboarding very soon. Bear with it please!

The bount arc DRAAAAGS, but i never actually knew it was filler until i read the comments here so I've watched it all 3 times that I watched bleach. Thinking about it now, its kind of sad, the arc could have been good if it was done better since i really did like the idea of bounts, but since its filler its limited in that they can't allow the main characters progress or improve meaningfully so they were locked to a more bland formula that doesn't match bleaches usual character growth. The tragedy of those beings could have been woven into a much better story is all I'm saying

I watched the bount arc without even realizing it was filler. It’s not that bad. Is it as good as the cannon? Absolutely not. But, it’s not horrible the way some make it sound.
