okay also because it’s a standalone episode that doesn’t advance the plot at all, it begins on a boat and ends on a boat so u can skip it easily, plus u get better stuff if they skip it because otherwise you would be wasting an episode drop on a 20 minute episode of pedophilia that does nothing for no one except creep you out and give u 20 shots of a 12 year old naked, it’s disgusting and it should be skipped, there are way better episodes to come. Tarot card / Stand fun facts: For those unaware, Tarot cards are a divination method dating back a number of centuries. Each card represents some kind of idea and they're used to make predictions based on which is drawn randomly from a deck. Araki put some thought into the stand names and made them (mostly) have interesting alignments with the card they're named after. I'm going to avoid some of the main character stands so far because the analysis is much more interesting after further events. But for now: Tower of Grey, the beetle stand. The Tower card, number 16, represents sudden catastrophe, calamity, and distress. Not a lot to unpack here. It's a stand that makes a plane crash. Star Platinum, Jotaro's stand The Star card, number 17, represents hope, bright prospects, and faith. Again, this one is pretty cut and dry. Jotaro is the MC, and so he represents hope for victory. I promise these will get more interesting as the show gives us more to work with, but that's it for now.

This is the first unofficial Japanese music reference in JoJo because in the manga she is singing "The Loco-Motion" by Australian singer Kylie Minogue. @mywrid I agree but, it is almost malicious the way some people talk about the older parts when comparing them to newer ones, newer parts are more refined but that doesn't mean that the older parts are bad, and Part 3 only has pacing issues in the middle part and not the entirety, the start and ending is solid, and especially the end, it is one of the most iconic endings in anime.

The reason people say this season is "slow" is because they think if Dio is not on screen then it doesn't matter. This part is all about showing how cool stands are to the audience. So we are going to be fighting A LOT of stand users on the way to Dio. And it's awesome. This part is all about the journey, not the destination. Everyone is just in too much of a rush to get to Dio that they can't enjoy how fun the ride is.

Episode 3’s commentary “The direction and storyboard were in Toshiyuki Kato's (chief episode director) care, one of the main members of the JoJo team. Because it was a calm transitory episode, the director had to be skilled enough to make it interesting. Seeing the end result, choosing Kato was clearly a good call. If I had to choose a memorable scene, it would be the one with a braless Holy and Avdol's explanations about the origin of the curse. That was quite a strange sequence (laughs). I like the atmosphere of the big traditional Japanese house, especially the sound of the Shishi-odoshi (scaredeer). Let's note that the sliding doors are only 1.8 meter tall in this house. But Jotaro and his companions stand above 1.9 meters, and must bow a little to walk around. Joseph is confronted with Japanese culture, that's a first. Mr. Kato's directing underlines all these details remarkably well. This episode is a prelude to the journey, with the reason for the departure, the objective and the preparations. We had to set up everything well here before really getting to business in the next episode. We had mutinously prepared the content of the first two episodes to do anything we pleased for this last introductory episode” - Naokatsu Tsuda

Episode 4’s commentary “We find ourselves inside a plane in the middle of the night, so the episode is in general somewhat dark, for sure (laughs). The layout of the aircraft cabin was made though 3D, but goes well with the rest of the characters. Because the place was cramped with very complex angles, to do everything by hand would likely result in composition errors. Here is the first true Stand attack. Tower of Gray is a rather weak Stand for a first battle, but it's perfectly repulsive, with the second mouth jaw coming out of its mouth. Kakyoin enters the scene to "properly and calmly deal with it". His strategy is rather interesting: shooting Emerald Splashes everywhere (laughs). Kenichi Suzuki, the series's director, took care to portray Hong Kong in the second half of the episode as true to life as possible. Drawing the food ate up a lot of time, but it was essential to be able to look at the table and think that the food looked delicious. This is also the beginning of the "cultural" scenes accompanying every step of the journey. At the end, we get Polnareff's first appearance. His Stand springing out of the bowl was a brilliant idea, hats off to Mr. Araki. The fire clock drawn by Silver Chariot is also beautiful.” - Naokatsu Tsuda
