Should check out Ling Cage. People say it feels kinda like warhammer (idk cuz I haven’t seen warhammer stuff). Has 2 seasons, one of the most popular donghua in China. It’s a 3d show though so not sure how u guys feel about that but they end up a lot more popular in China than the 2d ones like link click, Lotm, and to be hero x. Barely known in the west tho

Y'all should check out the lore videos either Bricky or Luetin09, the lore is cool and the characters are professional aura farmers. I personally got into 40k for the lore and the opportunity to paint minis. You guys should look at some Golden Demon submissions, there are some crazy talented painters out there

The 40k universe is so massive and there is so much lore there really isnt spoilers, if anything you just pick somewhere to start and expand your knowledge of the universe from there. If you guys are interested in the 40K universe and want to do a reaction video I highly recommend watching the Bricky youtube videos, he has 2 that explain all the races and factions and 1 about the lore and he does an amazing job summarizing it in a fun and interesting way.

There are super fun YouTube videos where this surgeon breaks down all of the augmentations and surgeries that humans undergo to become Astartes (the big armored bois). Fun fact: Just the pistol those big bastards are shooting are chambered in .75cal. Most normal humans can't even fire one without serious consequences.

Astartes is the name for Space Marines. All of them are Astartes. The fan who made the Astartes short film did get hired and actually worked on the first video you guys watched from Secret Level, which came after the Astartes short. He's also since then been working on other animations for WH40K. He also invented the chapter of Space Marines you see in the short along with the alien species, which have since been canonized.

Warhammer 40k is like Star Wars mixed with Berserk mixed with Lord of the Rings. Its more like a setting instead of a single narrative throughline so its kind of hard to be spoiled unless you just want to be completely blind. Think of it less like a story with a beginning middle and end and more like historical accounts of a dark parallel universe but in the far future. Watching a lore video would only help your experience going into whatever tv show gets made. It provides context. The show would go into detail but theres so many characters and cool stories that you wouldn't necessarily be spoiled. Lore videos are like learning historical events and motivations of factions and important people. The show would be like a moment by moment insight to the most important/entertaining events. Once you get the bigger picture it can seem a little pointless/hopeless but if you focus on individual characters stories theres a lot of compelling themes. Bricky lore videos are good. The animated videos on the Warhammer 40k channel are good. Alot of the videos games are bad to mid but the Space Marine series is good and centers Titus, one the more notable characters in recent years. You guys would love it.

Straight up there is no such thing as a "spoiler" when it comes to Warhammer lol it is all connected lore all being different stories with billions of battles and soldiers fighting all the time with so many factions and species constantly fighting. It's all just lore, there is no overarching story. The new show coming out will probably be entirely its own thing that cant be spoiled plot wise.

Personally i’d say go for the lore dive because we don’t know yet if Henry cavils show is going to be an adaptation of an existing story or his own thing and even then i think its still worth because the lore is quite deep and if anything all it’ll spoil is you guys knowing the names of people like Titus for example

you kindda have to watch the lore video to know the universe, otherwise the only source materials are like the novels. video games are good but you kindda have to know the basics of the universe in order to understand what was happening. i would say go check the basic lore video than try out warhammer40k rogue trader. the tv show might be awesome but the rumors have been around for several years and we still dont really know how it's gonna be.

There is Warhammer 40k and then there is Warhammer Fantasy (my fave) which is a more traditional, medieval high-fantasy setting featuring knights, magic, orcs and elves and other species. Both are dope!

Huge warhammer fan here, will be nerding out and “explaining” small parts. When they enter the depths of that planet and the scriptures burn away my friends and i freak out on subsequent rewatches because my understanding is that the chaos/warp is so thick and pervasive that the Emperor’s blessings and scripture no longer protect them. Every single screw, gauntlet, helmet, weapon, ANYTHING carried by a space marine is a holy relic and is treated as such. To regular humans these Marines are Angles to those lucky enough to lay eyes on them. The demon they’re fighting is one of Tzeentch’s, 1 of 4 chaos gods that are pure evil and villains to humanity and basically everyone other race in the galaxy PS this doesn’t apply to all chapters and some of them are straight up evil.

The ''problem'' or lack thereof is that there is no true start to discover 40k. I started right with Astartes and I loved the ambiance so much that I started diving into lore videos right away. Being french I was lucky to begin my journey at the same time Indomitus 40k started making lore videos, and now you can watch them in English too on the Invictus 40k channel, it's very ambiance and immersion focus (and audio focus too, the video is juste illustrations). In english Bricky is fine even if he's criticized a lot by hardcore hobby enjoyers for spreading misinformation on some topics, I recall his Space Marine 2 review being so bad you wondered if he even played the game, but it's still fine for beginning in the universe. Enjoy the discovery phase, it's truly magical and you will not experience it again.

The Ultramarines primarch, one of the sons of the emperor himself, was raised on planet that was described as having Roman influenced architecture. Once he returned to his chapter they essentially adopted that style. Hence the laurels and the omega symbol.

Not so fun fact. The way they travel across the galaxy is via “The Warp” long story short it’s hell and mixed with a little bit more hell. That’s the only way the imperium travels faster than light and it’s like rolling the worst version UNimaginable of wild magic in DnD every time you do. You could go insane, get possessed, spend an eternity inside that lasts mere seconds in reality, literally anything.

On why humans would be fighting other humans in the trailer; there's the Imperium of Man, and then there are multiple rebel human factions, most of whom worship the Chaos gods (transdimensional demon gods born out of mortals' emotions), but some don't. They're differentiated as either being Chaos Legions or Renegade Legions, if they're space marines. There's also just general chaos cults around. Who we saw fighting the grunts (members of the Astra Militarum) in the trailer were Chaos Marines, seemingly members of the Black Legion if I had to guess. They also added the Leagues of Votann a few years back, or the "space dwarfs", who are an ancient offshoot of humanity (at least we think) but aren't allied with them. There's also stuff like the Rogue Traders, but they're neutral and kinda just doing their own thing.

Basically all you need to know to get an overview of the setting is the Warhammer Timeline video by bricky which is like half an hour long but super well explained. It went viral because of it so you will see lots of other recommendations to see it.

40k is honestly the best fictional universe out there, the amount of lore you can read about on this series is crazy and just to think it all started with a tabletop game and the hype for this series is at an all time high. On youtube, The Templin Institute got a pretty good 40k video titled: Imperium of man. It's relatively short but jam-packed with lore, specifically about the human faction. Bricky and Luetin got lots more and in more detail. Warhammer 40k is sick.

I think going in blind would be fine, but I would prefer if you guys understood the very basics of the lore at the least, who the Primarchs are, understanding the Horus Heresy and how the imperium of man and the Emperor got to where they are in the current setting, what races and beings populate the galaxies. I imagine you’d appreciate any content a lot more then.

Also, if you start buying miniatures, be prepared to realise that 40K is the amount you’ll be spending on the hobby 😅 Jokes, obviously. But it also isn’t cheap. Paint, good paint brushes, primer, quality of life things, the actual miniatures… Almost every time I’ve walked into a Warhammer store or our local Hobbystore that sells a bunch of 40K and dnd things, I haven’t left without spending at the very least $250 CAD. My grey pile of shame is growing quite large and I only very recently got into the hobby. They’re just so cool, I can’t help it.

WH40k was mainly inspired by the Dune & Starship Troopers books . A lot of rising media franchises in the 70s-80s heavily borrowed ideas from other works in their genre. DnD did it for fantasy, WH40k & Star Wars for sci-fi. Helldivers & Starcraft were also mostly inspired by Starship Troopers..its a shame people only remember the cheesy movies lol

Warhammer 40k is such an expansive universe of lore. You cant really be spoiled on anything. Getting a broef overview of the factions and history qould help immensely in parsing anything 40k related. A lot of people react to bricky's 40k videos for this.

Most Space Marine chapters/legions have particular themes and influences, and the ultramarines from the first video (blue ones) are very heavy with the Roman empire/ancient greek theme. But theres a lot of variety which is cool to see, from gladiators, to egyptians, to vikings, to vampires and more. Also Please Please watch the "If the Emperor had Text to Speech", its very light hearted but the early episodes give explanations of different facets of the lore in very quick and digestible episodes. In particular though, theres the two episode chunk of episodes 16 and 17 which basically give the whole backstory of the galaxy and the emperor's birth and rise to power

there should be no concern going in blind vs not, the lore is all interconnected battles and factions with some overarching story beats (most have already happened) and the cavil show will likely be its own thing. There no 'spoiling' in warhammer, the only true story lore is the warhammer 30,000 story of the horus heresy of how the current universe (year 40k and beyond) came to be and how humanity got to where it is with the emperor etc. other than some of that establishing lore, its more of a world to craft stories in rather than something like star wars with very specific 'main' story lines to follow. You guys should check out space marine 2 and maybe even darktide or rogue trader, fun coop games in the universe that will give you more of a taste.

agreed, darktide is peak, but pretty hard. Its more 'grimdark' than sm2. but sm2 is probably a better intro into spacemarines and the universe from what they just watched, especially having a solid story campaign with a clear start and finish.

Crazy timing on this drop for me. Coincidentally, I just picked up Space Marines 2 recently since it is 70% off for the Steam sale. One of my brothers and his friends are fans of the game. I figured this was as good a time as any to get into the world. Especially with the Henry Cavill show coming up! I played the first mission and am sucked in from the opening scene alone. You guys should totally pick up Space Marines 2 while its still on sale!
