GOAT EPISODE

Coen

No one was ready for this

Bellaa

omggggg

Jake

🙏

Luke

Came for the anime, and find myself waiting for these episodes the most.

Adriana

One of the best episodes in the whole show!!!!

Ceci

I honestly don’t know if I should wait to watch this since I’m at work cause I feel like I’m going to scream… LETS DO THISSSS

Lapp

peak episode

Brn934

What a refresh pull, just finished watching the last episode

Ayyymayyy

You guys are gonna do a surprise drop of the last episode of the season right?….riiiiiiiiight? 👀🤞🏻

Makenzie

Jon Bernthal (Shane) did a phenomenal job in all of his scenes but he especially did a fantastic job in this episode! I’m looking forward to seeing how this will impact Rick, Carl, and the rest of the group

ainsley

i don’t think i’ve commented much on your twd videos, but genuinely these have made my week. this show has so much nostalgia for me! as always, thank you geks <3

charlie

I haven't been keeping up with the episodes but this is one of them ones you just gotta tune in and lock in for so tragic man still messes me up

charlie

"Is steam coming off his body" HES A SHIFTER

alexis chalstrom

I have been waiting for this episode and the next two for so long.

Emily Rose

Atlanta gets seasons! Definitely warmer than Utah and we don’t usually see much snow but it does get cold at least for my standards lol but I live for the summertime heat 😌

D1dus

The best part of walking dead dies with Dale and Shane 🥲

Anya

I love Daryl! Heart of gold, awake to the bs around him, and a great tracker. Best person to have in your group!

Ceci

Shane was not a good leader whatsoever. He would kill everyone to protect Lori and Carl. He was going insane. He didn’t care about anyone but them and would sacrifice everyone for them.

C2-H5-OH

FYI you guys added this to the Bleach collection on Patreon

k43t

Holy twists and turns every 5 seconds of this episode

Anya

"This was you! Not me!" Heart broke for Rick. Remember when Daryl said Rick ain't stupid and if he didn't figure it out it's cause he didn't wanna. Rick truly didn't want to believe how bad Shane got and held on to the memories of the old him. Rick tried his best to save his friend but like he said Shane is his own worst enemy. That was a cool shot when they entered the open field it set up such a tense scene! Great acting from Andrew Lincoln and Jon Bernthal!

Nana_44

I was waiting for this peak ass episode

Conk

Brody Nieberding

Season 3, 4 5 are peak bro what you talkin about

Anya

I would have liked to see Shane past season two. Would've been interesting to see how the Rick and Shane duo navigate this new world and any upcoming challenge. This ofc without the Lori and Carl obsession.

Anya

Aw man the wait for the finale next week is gonna be torture how cruel of yall to split these peak episodes 😫

Aras Paty

Is the finale dropping today too?

Jackson Lewis

I’m new to studio gek and have been watching a lot of yall recently! I was so thrilled seeing yall watching this and I have completely caught up. One of my highlights of the week is getting to see yall react to this for the first time! Holding out hope for a double drop tonight for the finale just due to the level of peak this and next episode are lmaoooo

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

Easily one of the most memorable scenes in the show I think. 14 year old was extremely shook

kri

I AM SO READYYY FOR THIS LET S GO

Anya

Carter started this video depressed and ended the video depressed 😂 that's how you know a show is good because it just hits you in the feels

Justine

Shane would be ruthless as a leader. A good leader doesn't expect everyone to follow because of fear. People follow Rick because of the empathetic part

Jeff

First thing I noticed haha

Sam

Great episode and reaction. RIP Shane definitely had to go but one of the biggest conversations about this show is how certain arcs would be different with Shane part of it and I think that’s super interesting to think about as you continue watching

Lothbrok

Pfffff the edge to wait untill Tuesday is unreal :(

Aden

DOUBLE DROP PLEASEEEE

s/k

Shane thought quicker and reacted violently to end Rick’s life just so he could be with Lori and Carl. Rick thought smarter, and when he finally stabbed Shane, he was genuinely shocked that it had come to that.

Owl

Deserved he was having orgasm with Randall he was panting and smiling disgusting

Owl

Pls next ep I can’t wait 😭

Zaraiz Khan

both true statements lol

Sav

Spoiler

Ella

Same here lol

Aya17

dang I wish yall would have did these last two episodes back to back. But I felt the same way as Carter but honestly with what transpires after these two episodes I moved on from Shane so fast. Its way more to come lol

selmak13

When do they say it, what scene? Bcus this is lowkey a spoiler for something that is revealed the next ep smh

Zaraiz Khan

he would still make the move to save as many lives as possible. but yeah, if push came to shove, hes sacrificing everyone lol

Ella

I think I have to agree

Nini

Mia Malvik ⚞ • ⚟

That's what they mean when they say good character though. He's a good character, not a good person

Stairguy

He is THE Punisher. Crazy good actor

Stairguy

WAIT WUT??? You haven't seen The Punisher??? What of the Marvel Netflix shows have you seen? Thats easily one of the best ones. I hope they're in the que for the future

Andy tee

I understand the Shane defenders. Amazingly complex character, phenomenal performance from John Bernthal. He's still a bad person, perfect for this bad world. Bad man with unreal screen presence. The Tywin Lannister effect.

kri

ahh i've been waiting for this moment . Such a good scene but so tragic

kri

their silhouettes under the moonlight HOW OMINOUS

Makenzie

Oh my gosh I hope so 😭

kri

can't defend lori for not keeping an eye on carl but him sneaking out EVERY TIME is a plot device at this point lol

Gorira Kujira

Also my favorite scene as well, everything from that first shot with the moon behind them to the shot of the horde behind them, amazing episode and can't wait for the finale

Cannon Andrus

Shane was a great leader up until Rick came back

Mony

This has not been discussed yet and is a spoiler.

Kinx

If Rick was dead, having Shane as a leader wouldn’t have worked. He was very controlling and it was very much his way, no questions asked. You can see little hints back in season 1, how a few members of the group didn’t agree with his choices. For example, he was willing to abandon Glenn and the others that were stuck in the city, for the safety of the one’s in camp. He almost beat Ed to death, because he was in a bad mood. Then, he would kill anyone that got in his way or would disagree with him.

kri

He's too reckless to be a leader imo. He can definitely survive on his own, but to lead a group? He couldn't even get people to fully trust or follow him the way Rick has. He seemed promising when he was larping as rick but yknow .

Justine

If we assume that the first camp in season one the one on top of that hill close to the forest was his call. How is that a great decision? They were exposed to the elements and the walkers. Even for the water they had to take the car to get to. Also if he was a great leader the group wouldn't had turn to Rick as the leader so quick. Or at least there would a divide or vote who wants Shane as the leader or Rick

kri

I I mean the apocalypse was unexpected, nobody knew what they were doing. The city was infested, where else could they have gone then? And Shane was a "great" leader simply because he was capable/strong, and kept lori and carl safe. When rick shows up, of course people turn to him, he instantly proved himself, wanting to do right by others (going back for merle, etc), his empathy like you’ve mentioned. Which is why people turned to him in the first place imo

cuesegue .

McKay and Jack when Carl says "Dad?" after Rick killed Shane had me rolling! Then Carter starts asking Connor "What is happening?!! What just happened?!!" like Connor wrote the script. Hahahaha! Connor did a great job biting his tongue during this episode! Looking forward to the jaw dropping season finale reaction.

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! Shane lost it

Justine

I'm glad we all agree. Shane great to keep the few people he cares alive. Even before Rick showed up / not a great leader.

cuesegue .

Lol!! I didn't even notice it auto corrected I'm guessing because I always type Connor for my nephew? But you'd think I would have noticed after the second or third time lol!!

Alex Ramirez

I like what the show did with Shane over the comics. Shane dies early in the comics, like the morning of the night ambush that kills Andrea's sister Amy. He blames Rick for being at fault for the deaths and pulls a gun on him. However in the comics, the people who kill him are reversed. Carl is the one who shoots and kills Shane while he's alive, and Rick is the one who puts him down when he turns into a zombie. Comic counterpart Carl is a huge menace...

parALICEis

I don't really think Shane wanted to mentally break Rick to "winn" over him. I think it was still hard for him to go through with killing Rick so he tried provoke Rick to "fight back" so that his conscience could cope with killing him by having to "self defend".

parALICEis

u guys put the uplode in the wrong collection btw XDD

DietCocaine

I don’t believe you prove it by dropping episode 13 early

DietCocaine

I’ve been waiting so long for this episode. PEAK. That scene between shane and rick is PEAK writing

Jacob Herrera

It's the best thing Lori could've said for a normal person, talking to a normal person. This rewatch I'm doing with y'all really makes me like Lori a lot more, because her actions make a lot more sense. Like her response to Dale dying makes a lot of sense for a normal person going through grief, she's just been presented with the reality of their new world, life is fragile and can go at any moment, so she doesn't wanna live with the regret of never thanking Shane for what he did for them, because no matter what he did after Rick came back, when they thought he was dead, Shane saved her, and she recognizes that, he was there for her when she was all alone. She even said in the conversation that losing Sophia was horrible, but she really thought they could return to a somewhat normal existence, but after losing Dale, reality set in that anyone can die at any time. Unfortunately, Shane isn't a normal person and was nosediving into insanity. I think viewers that hate on her because we have information into Shane's psyche that she doesn't, we see his slow descent into madness, we see him process things on his own when no one else does, so yeah to us it's obvious he's going crazy, and sure, he did and said things publicly that would make anyone think he was crazy, but they have a very different relationship and dynamic than Shane and anyone else not named Grimes. Sure Dale can see he's crazy, but Lori sees years of a person she's known, as her husbands brother, and her sons uncle, so even if he did horrible things to her, you can't help but also see all the good he's done, and she probably was confused internally about him, but knew she or he could die at any point, and I'm sure she knew she would regret not thanking him for sacrificing himself for her and Carl.

kri

the way i thought you were defending shane the whole time lol oof sorry . Misread your comment

Term

jack has definitely seen this full season bru

Justine

Hell no You remember when the camp got attacked? The day that Amy died. If Shane was a good leader back then he would be extra careful that night knowing that half of the group was missing. Also he was an ex cop he should know better to have prepared the group. Watche duties, responsibilities etc I believe that he would had left people to die and justify the deaths as necessary for the group, if we had more time to see him as a leader.

bluehef

WE NEED THE NEXT EPISODE NOW

Seb

Did Carl raise his gun at Rick or did he raise his gun because he saw that shane was already turning into a zombie????????? the way the show makes it look like is that he originally raised his gun at Rick then shane stood up as a walker. but like had he already seen that shane was turning??????????

Sari-chan

I "love" that Rick stabbed Shane. So much more personal. A gun would have been too detached. Also Carl did not hesitate. Good boy.

Poragami

god please we need 3 episodes a week, i can't wait for the final episode man lmao

Darrell Henry

All these years later and I still hate Shane.

bailey harris

uhh yeah I am gonna need a surprise drop

Arthur Fields

If Shane had killed Rick, he probably would've killed Herschel next. I'm anxiously waiting to see their reaction to the S2 finale and S3 premier episode.

TheSauceGuy

Am I just being a hindsight merchant, or did it take really long for the Geks to clock how the virus works lol?

aubrey

absolutely not man, the peaks of this show just keep getting higher for awhile imo

aubrey

my god im glad yall are watching this show cause im rewatching with yall and icb i forgot that this really is one of the best tv shows ever

S Moonchild⁷

There is a theory that everyone had Covid, just some showed symptoms and some not. Lori accidentally gave him a green light saying that she did have feeling for him and was grateful p.s. for some reason I remembered it as Rick killed Shane because Shane killed Dale. I was confused when Dale was killed by a zombie

ruruu

We need the finale rn 😭😭😭😭

Cat

maybe saw him moving on the ground before he stood up

Ayo Bee

Yo, I do not think Lori is at fault. She was trying to give them both closure. To let go of her hostility and take the blame with Shane so Shane can move on too. She was laying it all out honestly and without just pointing fingers at Shane. It's been shown so many times throughout the series that Shane only hears and sees what he wants to see and hear. He is always looking for a way to justify his actions. Justify killing Rick so many times. He takes one conversation with Carl and goes and accuses Rick of being a horrible father. Has one vulnerable and honest conversation with Lori and decides she's in love with him and that he has a chance.

Ayo Bee

This episode was insane, not only plot wise, but cinematography wise. The moon scene juxtaposed with the bright autumn forest. The way it felt like Shane and Rick were "stalking" one another through the dark forest as the moonlight peaks through.

Animeke

Shane is probably the second best character in the entire show behind Rick. His writing was just so compelling.

Sun

Carter, by this point are you cured of your aversion to gore? 😂

Skyz

It's sad Shane only lasted 2 seasons, throughout the entire course of the show he is one of the main highlights, even if he was a crazy piece of shit, he was a great character.

Becca Davidson

I think I've gone completely nutter butters cause why did this re-watch make me feel like Shane WANTED Rick to kill him.....🖤🖤🖤

Becca Davidson

oh and BTDUBS this ep is showing in the Bleach collection....🖤🖤🖤

HeartlandHunny

Please understand, I say this lovingly, but y’all are rats for making us wait until Tuesday for the finale reaction 😂

Two Cylinder

Its so interesting watching these early episodes knowing who becomes ricks number 1s

Enma

Jon Bernthal did an incredible job at portraying his character, and had some of the best quotes and moments in the show so far. Shane was such an interesting and great character, that it made you hope that he'd turn "good" so he would stay in the series longer. Now we have lost both Dale and Shane, two characters with opposing ideologies that have left their mark on Rick forever. Dale was like the anchor they needed. He's the one that represented the "old-world", where people were human and had a sense of decency, justice and compassion. And in this "new-world", these traits matter way more than they ever did before. In this type of brutal and unforgiving landscape, this is where your choices really matter, it shows not only to the world but to yourself who you really are and what you will do to save yourself. One wrong decision can lead you down a dark path that will slowly strip you of your humanity and in the end you will be left alone with nothing but a husk of your former self. And this is what Shane has become. He has completely surrendered himself to the brutality, sacrificing his own humanity in order to survive. In the end, he's become this animalistic monster; unrestrained, impulsive, and angry. I mean just look at his behavior around Randall in this episode. I think he was a decent leader before Rick arrived, but the moment his supposed dead friend came back, it just broke something within him. I think he lost everything he ever wanted and that was to be Rick. He doesn't seem like the guy thats ok with playing second fiddle, so giving up the reins of leadership, especially to Rick of all people, probably cooked his psyche. Then became this fractured being that was constantly flipping back and forth from his former self and who he really is. At the end, he was about to kill his own friend someone he even considered a brother so he could satisfy his ego/pride and foolishly believing he can finally become Rick - a husband, father, leader, and respected. This new world lets him finally be himself, or maybe, it forces you to be. This is what we are seeing with Rick. Will this world devour his humanity and make him succumb its rules or will he try to hold on to whats left even if it cost him his life or the lives of those he cares for.

Nivek

Andrea is the worst. Worst takes, responses, and attitude at the worst times ever. But who can you really blame she gets it from Shane

DonDuh103

Lori said we chill, Shane take that as “I still have a shot”😂😂

DonDuh103

Shane is a Ferrell jackal fien gremlin that only feeds on white monsters and fent😂😂 Dude needed to be put down.

DonDuh103

Shane is the man that exist to break the friend code☹️☹️☹️

Xen0n

Could we perchance get the finale early?

Enma

No more “let you tell you something” anymore 💔💔

josie

So excited going forward, season 3 and 4 (IMO) are the peak of the show.

josie

No literally. As big of a character as Shane was, the show doesn't drop off at all with him being gone.

Astro

I believe I saw an interview with Jon bernthal once talking about an alternate scene they had planned with Shane's death, where upon after rick kills shane, rick inspects the gun shane was using and finds it was actually empty the whole time, kind of forcing rick to finally do what needed to be done since shane knows he could never get over Lori and Carl.

Keanu

Another example of Lori butting in and making things worse, at this point she knows Shane is dangerous. She knows that his driving force is his attachment to Lori and Carl. She knows that he is a threat to Rick and they have just almost killed each other a few days ago. So what does she do, confirms the child she is carrying could be his, says what they had was real and then leaves to do anything other than keep an eye on Carl. Every time Shane shows signs of distancing himself Lori is right there to pull him back in.

zeekee

tbh, I don't think Shane said all those things to rick to beat him down, but rather he didn't want to kill him in cold blood. As much of an asshole that he was, Shane's character is so interesting because he still had his humanity - we often saw him fighting with it. I believe that he loved Rick but this new world brought out the worst in him. In that scene between the two of them, you could see that he said those things to make Rick angry, so that it would be easier for him to kill his best friend. That is why Rick was very clever to say "you are going to have to kill an unarmed man" - Shane was fighting with his humanity, with his love for Rick.

Skyz

Yeah I could have sworn the CDC researcher tells the group that the disease lies dormant in everyone but to be fair the test subject (his wife) was bitten so idk.

XxEpicTmacxX

Anyone else notice... This is put in the bleach playlist 😂😂😂 great episode and reaction either way.

bateman bookworm

Carl was just mad at rick and didn’t know how to react, he doesn’t understand the situation and how shane was going insane so he thought his dad killed him in cold blood. He would not have killed his dad imo lol, just a kid who is angry

Brandon Kidd

alright I think we need 3 episodes a week. Or 12, whichever works best.

saida

depressed carter = good show :)

saida

at least y'all were slightly older for season two 😭😭

mk

I think it is just easy to forget that this is a mystery at the start of the show

Anya

Depressed + stressed Carter = good show 😂

saida

i think he’s gonna really enjoy future seasons!!

Anya

Yes! Can't wait!

James Burge

You come back here and you just DESTROY EVERYTHING

James Burge

Yeah as good as the rest of the show is season 2 will always have a special place in our hearts as the Shane season

James Burge

Bruh I cannot wait for season 3 and 4

James Burge

We all have our secrets huh

Chrissy

Man I know I'm soft, but that scene with rick and Shane, gets me lol. I cry evert time, poor Rick. I like how it shows that an apocalypse can change even good people. Like it's so easy to look at Shane, Lori, Rick through the Lense of our own lives and way of living, but imagine throwing that all out, not by choice, and you just have to keep people alive or find a way to survive. How different personalities would cope with this... Like if we were all super honest, I think most of us would be dead on outbreak day lmfao. But it's so cool. I think most of us would want to be Rick. But I implore people to think about if you aren't the hero, you probably won't be lol. What would you do? Like we all like to think we would be " Rick" but think about if you were Lori, Maggie, etc. It's really easy to have opinions thinking we are all the hero, but I find it interesting to think about the "side" characters, cause that would probably be me lol.

Chrissy

Dale got shot in the head btw, won't be a zombie. head shots are how you kill them.

Chrissy

I love Shane as a character. But anyone who thinks he is a good guy or right, kind of a red flag. He literally tried to rape Lori. And I don’t think Lori is a perfect character, but her choices actually make sense. Imagine knowing you’re STUCK with someone. What can you do? You try to meet them on their level, give them closure and say goodbye. But Shane took that litttttttle bit. It’s actually really interesting. It’s not about the girl, it’s about control. Shane had issues.

Pudding

WHAT THE HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Pudding

I NEVER EXPECTED ANY PART OF THAT ENDING

Charlie

He only cares about protecting Lorie and Caryl. He lacked the humanity needed to be a good leader.

Seb

man LOWKEY what a final scene that was with rick and shane 👏 👏

Iago

“What is wrong with him?” Shane is telling truths to Rick, Rick is not a good leader, as simple as that. This world is too harsh for him, and he just never gets it (literally never). Shane gets it from the start, but also had its problems. Not saying it is easy to live in this world and keep your “humanity”. For me Rick is the most triggering character in the show for the stuff he keeps doing

Picasso

Lori is literally never watching Carl wtf is wrong w her lmao

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

shane defenders and shane enjoyers r different imo - u can definitely enjoy shane as a compelling character and thats one thing, but i think 'defenders' refers to those who try and excuse/justify his actions and still paint him in a good light when he was objectively awful in so many ways

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

@skyz SPOILER no, this is currently a spoiler for them! jenner whispered it to rick in last seasons finale, but it isnt revealed what he said until this seasons finale

Andy tee

Yeah true. I do think some of his actions are justified but the vast majority are downright villainous.

Grady

Miserably slow pacing 🫠

Gracie's Revenge

In Carl's defense, even though he wasn't supposed to be out there, he didn't raise his gun to Rick. It looks that way, but he sees Shane get up and start coming at Rick. He sees that Shane is a walker, starts crying because Shane is like an uncle or stepdad to him. He shoots Shane to save his dad, but it was hard for him because he loved Shane and Shane loved him. Also, that is the first anything that Carl puts down in the show, so that was hard for him to pull that trigger.

Zess

Crazy you havent deleted this spoiler ass comment yet lol

Zipzzty

Love Daryl

Zipzzty

Peak episode man

Nene 🩷

So glad I waited so I can binge these last few posts but cannon I’m sorry I gotta disagree hard with you. Shane was a defacto leader bc of his former position as a deputy whereas Rick became a leader immediately bc of who he actually was & bc he could carry the burden. One example I’ll use is Jim making it clear in s1 that they all knew ed was beating Carol but Shane only reacted when he needed to let out out his own anger about something else whereas Rick laid down the law to Merle immediately. Shane was never really the leader in the way Rick is & he couldn’t have gotten them to the farm unless it was at the cost of many more of their group. He always accused Rick of being in another world but Rick was just trying to hold on to his humanity which allowed him to be the leader he needed to be whereas Shane was living in lalaland cosplaying as Rick without the same tenacity he had. Mind you, I agree with them both on certain things but it’s what makes it so interesting. But Jon Bernthal ate in this role & I agree he’s such a great character & I loved every minute I got to hate/love his character. I have all of Shane’s monologues memorized 🤣 his line delivery was crazy. I hate how much the Emmy’s did TWD. The acting on the show is on another level. Andrew Lincoln & Jon B’s chemistry is insane & a testament to their skills as actors. They ate down.

Chosos Wife

Can anyone else hear that noise when the episodes playing or is it just my autistic head picking up on sounds? It's driving me crazy every episode 😭🤣 it's like a constant long noise like an electric noise or hum or something and man oh man I'm struggling 😬🤣

Chosos Wife

I'll help him wash the blood off in a nice hot shower

Lumen

What is the guy is the grey shirt that’s already seen this show called? Anyways, he had a really bad take— saying a Shane led group would’ve been fine because he was doing fantastic until Rick came back is utter nonsense! Shane refused to get a small group to go to Atlanta to rescue Glenn, Andrea, etc when Tdog radioed back saying they were stuck. And his best plan for when they decided to leave camp was drive 100 miles to Fort Benning which we learned this season in the Nebraska episode was gone. So his leadership style was keep up or get left behind as we travel 100 miles into the unknown only to get fucked when we get there. Yeah, such a fantastic job. Brilliant. Plus, if he was doing so great as their leader, why did everyone immediately started following Rick without him even asking them to? Besides, when all it takes for him to beat up a member of the group to a pulp is some unrelated pent up anger (I’m referring to him beating up ed) and for him to literally attempt sexual assault is some alcohol then you know, you KNOW, he is simply NOT the kind of person you want leading you. I mean, come on! Shane didn’t have anyone’s back but his own (and Loris and Carl’s, but that’s only because he decided he was entitled to them), so why would the others want someone like that as their leader? And how would that type of leadership keep the group united and safe when he was always ready to leave people behind or sacrifice them for himself.

Lumen

No, the whole barn debacle starting with Shane freaking out and ending with Sofia coming out of the barn was peak. But this was a close second!

Lumen

Ew no

Lumen

I hate him and get disgusted by him a little more with every rewatch. And I rewatch this show A LOT!

Travistphotos

I have an irrational hate of Andrea. She really gets on my nerves
