One thing I always at least give the Nel trio credit for is they act as guides and provide some useful information to the team, even if the anime doesn't portray it very well. A lot of other anime that do these types of characters end up making them just all around useless. Like even in this episode, while Dondochaka was spazzing out, he still talked about Szaellaporro's role in Las Noches. We as viewers already knew it a bit but Renji as a character in the story didn't.

Hueco Mundo is really good but it has every capacity to be great. Theres individual moments, fights characters developments that IMO surpass Soul Society but as a whole SS is tighter. For me the jokes could be shorter, even in the manga, theyre not all bad but they take too long to finish. One of kubos weaknesses is the humor, there are times hes good but most of the times hes bad. Its fun to see him evolve in that regard, if you look at the beggining and end of the show you can see his progress at being more consistent more short and not disrupting the flow of the episode. It feels like we stop whatever was going on to make a joke, were fighting lets stop for 10-15 sec. and tell our joke. Hes better at physical comedy as opposed to telling a straight out joke. Buttttt, early bleach is very funny, except 90% of the ishin jokes

I agree with you, they have a purpose, guiding our mais charactes and giving us information about the world, the characters and how they function. Out of the three, up to this point, nel is really good cause she's doing her job, she's cute and funny. I like pesche second best cause its funny seeing him ragebait uryu, but uryus fight is weak so hes second Dondochakka third cause he hasnt appeared a lot and hasnt make a great first impression

Fortunately the landscape of anime has changed significantly where filler arcs and stretching scenes is no longer needed as the general viewer is willing to wait months/years for the next season so that there's enough manga material to adapt. Unfortunately that wasn't the case during the early 2000s so these iconic shows seem like such a slog at times. Would definitely recommend checking out the Manga to see what it was actually like.

I mean, imo that's a good thing lol. More silly and goofy scenes would completely clash with the tone set for 99% of tybw. And you can't really expect grown adults to force themselves to like playground potty humor written for a younger demographic, especially when a lot of the funnier wordplay and puns in Japanese don't come through translation.

The worst part is definitely over, but even so, this arc still has some really slow pacing. Still, I'm looking forward to all the hype moments that are coming up soon.

What shows do you watch? I really think you’re tripping. Yeah sometimes when you have a beyond crappy episode like we did the first episode, it’s tough but like cmon man when there’s things of substance like the walking dead we don’t shy away from having insightful outros.

I will say that peak has become a lot bigger in our vocab, but we’ve always used those other words. I do think we are insightful, this arc sadly hasn’t had much to show for that but a lot of what we watch right now has led to great discussion for the geks

It's ofc fine not to like the Nel, Pesche and Dondochacka inserts. I personally think they're fine. I just hope you don't think they're anime-only inserts like the bount characters. All three are canon characters that Kubo included in the manga and have the same antics during the arc, inserting themselves during and in-between the fights in manga as well. Dondochacka falls on top of Renji in the manga and gets a kick to the face, and is crying loudly about it, just as it was shown in episode 159. The anime tends to extend the insert scenes by a couple of seconds here and there, which may be a drag if you don't enjoy them. Regardless, the really good stuff of the arc is coming up shortly so looking forward to that!

We’ve had just as bad episodes in One Piece the argument is which is the worst. 1# Naruto mostly cause I can’t take the flash back spam #2 One Piece mostly due to fights and I hate when they give Zoro a goofy character like a giraffe that could have been a Mr.1 fight😭😭😭 #3 is Bleach cause we still haven’t gotten threw half the show so till we get to a 350-400ep mark I can’t say for sure.

to clearify and help connecting the dots, rukia's final move is her sword's 3rd dance. she only used 2 dances before (i dont know why they didnt translate dance moves) and since her sword is an ice-zanpakto, she could create additional part to fix the broken metal. you can tell it was because of her power because when her zanpakto turned back to normal sword, it was still broken in half.

also with your concerns about renji is so on point and the thing is bleach wants you to question renji's power and capability in the first place :) no further explanation, i just wanted to give a heads up that you need to trust the show more. with dondochakka and pesche... man, anime caught up with manga so quickly, they made sure they dragged some scenes to give manga more time... which resulted with their scenes... :(

I think you are exaggeraring a bit. The geks are still discussing the plot in almost every outro. Its just some of the episodes of bleach dont really give much to discuss lately which is fine, better times will come.

The Dondochakka/Pesche episodes are way worse than I remember, they absolutely kill the mood and pacing. Maybe that's just because we have new TYBW episodes to compare it to every week now. At least Rukia's fight was a bright spot in this otherwise painful stretch of episodes.

The warning for the loudness of Cannon was not long enough to protect my ears. And the fact that Jack thinks the annoying parts are worse than One Piece is fucking insane to me. One Piece is 1000 episodes of pure nonsense non-stop. The fights to come have me at the edge of my seat, From what I remember her techniques were 1st dance (white moon) which is the tower of ice, the 2nd dance (white ripple) the 3rd dance (white blade) loose translations from what I remember.

You guys have talked a fair amount with Bleach about it being the origins of a lot of ideas, stories, and settings for other shows. Have you ever considered watching Yu Yu Hakusho? It is even more foundational to anime as a whole, and gave a lot of inspiration to the Big 3, among many others. It's often credited with perfecting and inspiring others to adopt the Tournament Arc. And it's a bit different than a lot of other shonen. But if you love Bleach, I think you will also love Yu Yu Hakusho. (If you do watch it, absolutely do dubbed. The voices are perfectly done).

The OG Bleach only has 203 canon episodes. They are over halfway through. TYBW has another 50 (41 atm) eps. I can't speak about Naruto since I haven't watched it, but eventhough there were absolutely amazing episodes and moments, I just didn't really vibe with One Piece (espescially the humour) too much. Probably the only reason i even got to FMI arc was because of lockdown. I never went back after. Whereas Bleach I absolutely love and I like the humour for the most part, but the anime just draaaaags it out so much, it gets super annoying too.

Bleach is my fav by far but the anime adaptation is so bad compared to the manga,especially the arrancar saga...even tite kubo(bleach author) used to tak about how he would get a stomache everytime he sees the anime and see how badly they are adapting his work

Sorry, but if all you're seeing is Jojo and the worst of the worst of bleach I'm not sure you can really complain much about the lack of engagement with story. I've been here a long time, and there are ups and downs with different shows, but these guys are just genuine. When a show is more casual fun to watch, the reality is your reaction isn't usually to hyper analyse the story, even if you *could*. When a show is dragging and not in a good spot, your focus is naturally more on honestly just getting out of the rough patch. Is there story to analyse and discuss? Absolutely. Is most people's natural reaction to do so? Not really. There's benefits to the channels that will make it a point to do so more on every drop, but there's also benefits to just being genuine with how you experience the show, and this certainly isn't anything new to them. Get them on another story-centric series that's doing well at the time, and you'll see they'll give the better discussions still.

Not tryna hate, sorry if i came across that way. Humor is Kubos most volatile quality, either its really good, good majority of the time or its bad, compared to its strenghts like character design, personalities, powers, plot construction and the poems. IMO all of these are his biggest strenghts

I like Bleach a lot and like other people are saying lots of shows have their good episodes and episodes that make you want to fast foward.
