There's been a few things in the last couple drops of this that are frustrating. Assuming they've missed stuff just because they don't know what lead to a scene, completely misunderstanding people's actions and thinking it's bad writing, talking over key scenes, thinking that scene of Shinichi killing the parasite was simply a 'cool, badass' scene, watching a damn reel when the episode is playing?? Like you said tho, still very much a fan overall, no-one's perfect lol

yeah like tbf the things like her writing his name and dreaming about him and all is just a teenager having a crush or whatever 😭 and i dont think kana would be trailing after him if not for her ability to sense the parasytes (as in i dont think shes a stalker for stalkers sake, or would be without the powers shes trying to test and make sense of), seeing as initially she was just curiously following the connections she felt. shes then convinced that the connection might be fate (which i feel like also has a slight cultural aspect at play, due to things like the red string of fate and all + considering how she wrapped his hair around her finger [which yeah, weird-] feels a bit like immitating the myth and trying to follow their 'string') and wants to know y shinichi cant feel it too or y she would have this one way street ability. like- idk how many people would attatch romance to it or not, but i do think a lot of people would end up in a curiousity killed the cat situation...cuz hell yeah im wondering y i can suddenly sense different peoples presense, and im probably testing it out a lil too lk 😭

One of my favorite details in Parasyte is that The Selfish Gene isn’t just something the author made up, it’s a real 1976 book by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins (the guy who invented the word meme who is still alive which is crazy to me). I had to read much of it in Biology and it's largely responsible for how I look at us humans and our relationship with life. The book argues that evolution can be understood from the perspective of genes acting as the primary unit of natural selection. It’s not saying genes literally think or are evil, just that traits which help genes survive and reproduce tend to persist over time. Parasyte uses that real scientific idea as a philosophical backdrop to ask whether humans and parasites are really as different as they believe. Up through episode 14, it’s less about proving Dawkins “right” and more about challenging us to think about whether empathy, morality, and self sacrifice are genuine departures from evolution’s ruthless logic, or simply another strategy that happened to evolve. I love that the series grounds its biggest questions in an actual scientific concept instead of inventing its own philosophy.

Man I don't get the Kana hate at all. She was just a happy young girl in love, which was further reinforced by her ability. All the comments about "creepy" and "stalker" etc are so misplaced. This wasn't some old man pursuing a young girl, it was a young girl pursuing her young classmate. There's so much nuance to things like writing her name alongside his, the hair ring, etc, when you realize her entire endgame was to just go on a date and hold hands. 😢RIP Kana. 😭
