I really love watching y’all’s reaction to jojos and I can’t wait for y’all to catch up to the anime. This is my 3rd favorite part which is crazy to say but you’ll understand later on. For me, the cast of Part 3 indeed trumps 1 and 2. My favorite so far is Joseph. Old Joseph is different but still the same spirit of his prime but Part 2 is still my favorite. I love Caesar and the Pillar men, it also has a better story overall. Part 3 shines the most towards the final battle and why I like it better than Part 1. To confirm, my favorite is Part 5. In terms of anime for now. 5>2>4>3>6>1

It's interesting people's opinions on pt1&2 vs pt3+. Usually if someone likes/dislikes 1&2 they think the opposite about 3 onwards. In fact just yesterday I met a guy who thinks 1&2 are amazing and every part after is boring/too weird. It's nice to see you guys appreciate 1-3 almost equally so far

I'm just glad you guys enjoyed Part 3 first half as it was the most dragging. But it needed the spotlight on each crusaders and it has lots of memorable moments. But 2nd half - Egypt arc is the better half. From episode 25, the fights are better and of course, there will be comedy moments as much of Part 3 iconography will come from this half.

Also forgot to mention, Part 1 is the Dio show, Part 2 is Joseph's but Part 3 are all about thr crusaders. Of course Jotaro sits at the top but because of his edgy personality, he has limited lines. That's where the others, especially Polnareff, shines when Jotaro doesn't need to be in the spotlight.

Preferring part 2 over 3 wouldn't be crazy tbh. Part 2 is quite popular and I've seen a decent amount of people say it's their favorite among the different Jojo parts. It's not the one that comes back the most though, but neither is part 3. And yeah part 3 is quite the controversial part for all the reasons you've mentionned. Some of you might love the part by the end while others might think of it to be simply ok in comparison to the others. I've seen so many different takes about the different parts, it's just impossible to predict what part someone will like or not.

Yay! Halfway through! Just a heads up to skip the new opening next episode but you can watch it immediately after it doesn’t spoil much. I’ve accepted that we won’t get double drops and I’m so glad that you guys are enjoying part 3 so far but it would be amazing if we could get a binge of the finale (I think the last 3 episodes?) because everything just flows and it would be such a waste to lose the momentum breaking it up with three separate days. At the very least I’d love it if you watch them in one sitting and post them separately! Again love the reactions they’ve been sooo fun

STAND PROUD commentary “The scenes in diving gear take up more than half of this episode, but these devices are really difficult to draw. Jotaro and Avdol were particularly tricky because of the accessories they already wear normally. We didn't know what was where anymore. The only silver lining: their obstructed mouths do not require lips synchronization. This is a new underwater episode after the 6th against Dark Blue Moon. Although the aquatic environment had given us a lot of problems again, it was a pleasure to make the sign language scene between Kakyoin and Ponareff. I love seeing them in sync like this, they are really well tuned. Since this is the last fight, we had wished to make everyone participate. Every character is given his little action scene. The scene where High Priestess attacks by transforming into a harpoon was drawn by Katayama, the action scene animation director, up to the key drawings, for a beautiful result. There's the scene where High Priestess becomes red - seen from the inside of the mouth and not the cheeks - we went from a pink as a reaction to the flattery to an angry red. I hope that this effect will have its little impact. When the group finally steps on Egyptian soil, they stand on the beach, facing the sea. There is a shot on the water surface, rather discrete, but it was the only way which asked the most work because of the transparence effect. The scene where Jotaro tosses a starfish stuck on him wasn't in the original storyboard, but we added it in the process of animation. It was an idea of the director Mr. Kato. It's maybe at this moment that Jotaro (REDACTED) At least you can picture it like this! (laughs) The last scenes are all original. The review of the enemy Stands until then, Dio in his mansion, a phone call to Suzie Q... Everything here allows us to wrap up the journey and really give a last episode feel.” - Naokatsu Tsuda

I compare Part 3 stands to the main core of Pokémon where Fire>Grass>Water, pretty simple. In the sense that once you identify a stand weakness' the fight is basically over whereas following parts the system gets more dynamic and the fights (with some outliers) are way more closer strategy-wise to the ones from Part 2

This is extremely prevalent in Part 3. It's why it's near the bottom for me in part rankings (Part 1 is obviously at the bottom). It all depends on how I'm feeling that day. Parts 3 and 8 change in my rankings a ton (No Part 9).

Definitely not heresy to like Part 3 more than part 2, part 3 is what put Jojo on the map. A lot of the part 1-2 appreciation is in retrospect for western fans. Part 3 (and stands) is what got people to go, wait, what's this show I keep seeing? Part 3 memes were all over the place in 2014 when this aired. Then people went back and discovered the previous parts. Every part has it's own vibe, like we've already had Victorian horror story, Indiana Jones adventure, and now road trip with the bros. So people like different parts for different reasons.

Really great outro discussion, i'm glad the villain of the week stuff didn't affect you guys too much. For me personally, it doesn't feel like it's drags as much as one of the big three for example cause jojo's knows how to make things fun and the humour isn't as childish (one piece is still my goat i'm just saying) despite being very shounen battlesque in this part. Anyways, i would say these next upcoming episodes are really good i'm excited for thursday :)

The choreography of part 2 is way better than 3 but mostly because hamon doesnt have direct methods of fighting so u always have to use the environement. with stand u know exactly how someone will use it, jotaro punches, polnareff stabs, kakyoin stretches and emerald splashes etc... there are some great fights here, especially at the end. though i do think stand battles get way more interesting in part 4 onward as stands become way more esoteric in their powers

I understand where Jack is coming from with the fight complexity in part 3 so far. Now, I don't think so far that it boils down to simply "find weakness, win" as he says. I think that the structure of these fights also matters, as part 2 is the Joseph show, whereas most of these stand users are able to comfortably hold their own against our entire crew at times. My gripe with some stand fights thus far is that it feels that Araki at times wasn't sure how to wrap them up, which leads to random victory. For example, Justice with Jotaro using Star platinum to inhale all of her fog. It's wacky, but comes out of nowhere. Probably the best back and forth stand fight thus far would be against the hanged man though. As when we think we have him, he actually cuts up another guy to trick us into thinking it was him. Ultimately, the stand fights get better and better as time goes on, and I can't wait for the 2nd half of part 3.

This is also technically the end of the 1st season of part 3 since it was split into two seasons on release. Hence the recap of events and grandiose set up for what's to come. No one refers to them this way now though of course

To what Carter is saying at the end, that's one of the best parts about Jojo's. Everyone has their own favorite part, and there are plenty of valid reasons as to why it would be their favorite. Each part has it's own distinct identity, which results in each part having it's diehard fans.

I think they will like part 4 and araki gets more creative with how he writes the stands and therefore I think the fights can be more well written instead of Jotaro just punches harder and wins. However I think part 4 still feels like it drags too much until things get going (which isn’t necessarily bad as it lets you get used to the characters and setting). My favorite part which is 5 is what I think you guys will really enjoy and that’s because it’s like part 3 with such a great group except 90% of the fights are really well written and awesome while each fight also directly affects the plot instead of it feeling like the fight didn’t matter and could’ve been absent.

I find it interesting to see the reactions to part 3 cause similar things happened with me and my friend. I loved part 3 the first time I watched (I still do) and I never wanted it to end. I could’ve watched 100 episodes of random encounters and stand fights with the crusaders and not been bored. However my friend had the opposite reaction. He loved the first 2 parts but about 10 episodes in he was complaining that they didn’t need to do some of the fights we watched and could’ve just cut them out. Now personally I don’t really agree with this because I don’t see the need to speed run the plot to dio and I think that having these encounters is build up and makes the journey more enjoyable. However I did feel on rewatch that it drags and part 3 has moved down my list. I just find it fascinating cause some people don’t mind the structure at all and others hate part 3 because they feel like it’s way too repetitive.
