it breaks the momentum for certain episodes and pretty much every other reactor watches doubles to have a better watching experience for themselves and the viewers. If it’s true that they’re saving double drops for the finale then ig that’s fine but I know most people would still prefer doubles.

Genuinely one of my favorite fights in the entire series. So clever and keeps the tension at 10 while still balancing comedy. All while not having a single punch thrown. Araki was in his absolute bag with this one. “Go head Mr Joestur”

Yeah but they already said they're busy with other shows, and almost everyone in every other fandom asks for double drops so they can't comply with all of us. Plus it'll still be fine if these two parters are split up, I think the last couple of episodes are actually worth begging double drops for.

Both Darby and the crudaders know they only have 3 days left till holly dies so that threat wouldn’t hold any weight. Also he had polnareffs soul already so they really weren’t going to risk anything

Jack the anime doesn’t really make it clear but in the manga as Joseph’s soul is being pulled out he unconsciously drops the coin into the glass and it overflows so he 100% did lose in that moment lol

Around 22 minutes, just since McKay was saying it was BS, D'Arby does actually specifically state that his stand takes their soul at the moment of defeat and not at the loss of the bet. Like I believe the wording was like, when a person loses a bet that moment makes their soul appear which his stand can then steal. So it implies the important moment isn't the loss of the bet but the experience of defeat. I think.

Yeah but that's not important anyway. Joseph had no plan B, he knew he lost and that there was no chance it wouldn't overflow, so that's the reason his soul was taken. The stand itself only knows who won/ lost based on the mental state of the person. The cup overflowing after that is just confirmation.

It's funny to me how much this episode disproves the "pacing is an issue" complaint people have about this part and instead proves how awesome this adaptation actually is. All the tense moments where the show takes its time and slows down, like the repeated shots of Joseph having a hard time breathing while thinking of a way to put a coin in the glass or just the zooms on everyone's faces... If we'd had our "heckin fast paced modern anime adaptation" this representation of a high stake confrontation wouldn't have been nearly as cinematic. People don't realize how much these little things matter. Many modern anime lack this entirely, when they should be getting inventive with the medium to actually convey something, working with it instead of around it.

Basically every single 2 parter in this part would’ve been one ep if the followed a more modern anime pace. Which in hindsight may have been bettter for some fights but def not all

The D’Arby episodes are peak. Part 3 drags at times, especially the middle of the part, but the final third or so of part 3 is genuinely fantastic.

Jotaro and co. have finally arrived in Cairo, but they are already gambling in a café. Polnareff is aggressive and is masterfully tricked, so his chances of winning were slim. (laughs) I think the episode gives a really good visual of the playing cards. In fact, we had asked a professional magician (紙磨呂) to do some moves. We filmed it and used it as reference material for the animation. Daniel has some really strange motifs on his face. During the animation process, we had treated them as tattoos but in truth I confess I have no idea what they could be. (laughs) The two brothers have similar motifs, maybe it's something genetic... Also note that even if the story is the same, we've made multiples modifications on this Blu-ray and DVD version. Have fun spotting all the differences.” - Naokatsu Tsuda
