Oda has done a lot of work to implement real world history into One Piece which might be a reason why these kinds of relationships are so common in the story, but again I’m not defending it.

I was also confused why they'd put the actual flare flare fruit but on this re-watch it made a bit more sense to me. He hosts the tournaments as a guise to collect strong slaves. The fact that people show up means that the way he's been running them seem trusty worthy to the public. It wouldn't make sense for so many known pirates who are already aware of how pirates are to fall for such an obvious trick? So I'm sure he normally actually has the fruit he's promising, but doesn't have to worry about anyone getting it because he's already planned someone from his family will win it and make a big spectacle of eating it and all, just like Sabo did.

Kyros is 44 currently, 34 when Doffy took over Dressrosa and since Scarlet was 25 when she died, the age gap should be 9 years, give or take.

Scarlett gave birth to Rebecca when she was 19 years old. So Kyros would have been 29. They just met when they were younger, and you gotta remember One Piece is set during that early-modern era time period (1600s-1700s), where society had much different standards, especially for kingdoms and royalty where princes/princesses were engaged/married as teenagers all the time. Oda is just being consistent with the time period that the story of One Piece is set in, no different to Game Of Thrones or any other story set in pre-modern eras. In Star Wars A New Hope, Han Solo was 29 and Princess Leia was 19, and that relatonship is one of the most beloved in any story. So it just depends how you look at this sort of stuff, whether you think it's natural or unnatural/forced in the story, or if it matches the time period it's set in. So the Kyros/Scarlett relationship is only weird if you make it weird and don't look at it from the context of the story or characters.

Actually Blackbeard was a fantastic fighter even before getting his fruit Carter. We see Shanks with his scar at the beginning of the show when Luffy and Ace are still kids, and Shanks got the scar from him. In the replies to this comment I'll post some of the first volumes of a few different Cover Stories from both Pre and Post timeskip, so you get an idea of what they are. Oda and other authors are just weird sometimes i dont think Oda is just being consistent with time periods tbg. I don't think you should get too hung up on the number 16 in their cases - it's more like Shirahoshi and Rebecca are supposed to be "young women of marriable age", which for Oda and the rest of Japan meant 16 years old at the time, so that's the age they got. Sanji never acts simpy/loveydovey towards any female characters that are under 16 years in the manga (and would be considered minors in that context). If One Piece was made in the US Shirahoshi and Rebecca would likely be 18 years old instead, with the same character design and events taking place. I would suggest just mentally aging them up to match your norms and chalk it up to a cultural difference.

this might be a slight spoiler but you guys might be surprised by how many people dont like sabo. I think thats part of the reason why people seem more hyped about usopp but also usopp has been on the crew basically since day 1 and has rarely had any dubs on the crew, thats why I think fans are hype for this but also, and more importantly, do not underestimate the power of memes. a good meme can create great staying power, thats a big part of why jojos is so insanely popular. its definitely a good, unique show but it is also THE most memed anime of all time
