Enma

Chapter 323, Episode 218

Zorahul

tiem for blech

Aluri Anirudh

ENTER FADE TO BLACK B13A one of my favourite osts played during hisagi's shikai

Enma

Happy Fortieth Carter 🎉❤️

KazumaSpitfire

I thought the upload days for OP and bleach got switched this week? A welcome surprise nonetheless 😁

G’Rale Gambino

Yall clowned these fights last time not knowing we’d get 2 of the most satisfying kills in the series so far… true Decapitations… And some of the best fights in series

Frida BØ

I love Hisagi😍 The fact he has the same voice actor as Keigo is crazy

Ayoodude

Ohhh it’s time

aye bee

kira and shuhei standing on bidness

Ayoodude

🔥🔥🔥🔥

Alexander

REAP Kazeshini my goat Hisagi got that extra budget this episode

RebornLima

I remember watching 219 when it first came out and the quality increase was so noticeable. Heard many things over the years but apparently Hisagi was a favorite of the animation team at the time so they went extra hard for him.

지원

Woah peakl??

Aluri Anirudh

studio pierrot really loved hisagi lmao, this particular fight was animated so well

Warsame

HISSSSSAGIIII 😍

Kritical Error

hisagi the goat i hope they animate CFYOW

Aluri Anirudh

there is probably just one or one and a half episodes that you might find annoying which is ep 222/223 and it is more of frustrating than being bad, after that there is literally no episode where pacing or storyline is bad imo

mathiasmedswag

Yay bleach comments stopped themselves from hindsight merchanting Yumichikas shikai👏

Charlie

HYPE!! 🔥

Trae Young Supremacist

this is what makes bleach so great imo. not that the fights and characters are cool but also the underlying ideology of different characters and groups. even 50+ eps later its still relevant and is brought up. my favorite fight in tybw was a “side character” fight not even ichigo vs the main villain until cour 4

kpthpthhh

SPEAK NICELY ON KIRA

Aluri Anirudh

the name of the beautiful guy is yumichika ayasegawa, but call him yumichika i guess, he is seat 5 cuz ikkaku took 3 and he does not like the number 4 lol

mathiasmedswag

Kira's vibe and philosophy is actually so cool. I think he's so cool. Now the sword shape makes sense💀🔥

Gui Brawl

Part of why these fights are so good is the lore we get about the squads philosophy of battle. What type of power should be used, how the battle should be, how we should feel during it. It tells a lot about the captains that preach them, and also how the lieutenants take in those lessons and use it in combat

Thanatos

Keep in mind Kira had a flawless victory. Bro no diffed the red bird guy. It’s crazy him and Renji and Momo all graduated at the same time because clearly bros on a different level than them. Beating high ranking arrancars. I think also just because some has the rank of lieutenant and captain doesn’t mean they’re all of relative power.

Daniella

HISAGIII MY BOYFRIEND!! The reason in which i live and breathe…reap me too pookie bear 🤭

mike thomas

if a basket ball sized object was 10 pounds and its weight increased x2. 84 times it would become a black hole. so spamming his boulder like wings too many times gets bad fast

Gui Brawl

What about byakuya??

Gui Brawl

Well... renjis on around his level, he just fights with people who outclass him, and momo shes good with kido and combinations but probably on the lower end of lieutenants

Benio

KIRAAAAA and HISAGIIIII 🔥🔥🔥 I love those two

Gui Brawl

Which one?? Lets share it in spoilers.. Spoilers Mines mayuri and nemu vs pernida, i just love mayuri in general so seeing the perfect opponent for him to let loose was great, complemented by nemus involvement. Her gaining a sense of self, her development and then her cold abrupt death was amazing, like a father losing his daughter. Initially she was just an experiment to mayuri, but overtime he started seeing her as his daughter, ahhhh! Just incredible!!

Thanatos

Renji needs to learn his place clearly. He’s losing aura every time he tries to get into the big leagues.

Jonas Teigen

Actual cinema batch of episodes.

Gui Brawl

Well you only get stronger by fighting someome strong, i just wish it wans't so frequent...

Warsame

Renji and ikkaku << hisagi and kira😍

Wiktor Kicki

you wont even finish this by the end of the year, so how is tybw close?

Jonas Teigen

Love the different philosophy in the fighting. Bleach, more than any other show I have seen, gives so much depth to its battles, but not necessarily through battle IQ. It's the dialogue, philosophy, morals, theme, and just overall how it's written. And because of the concept of a Zanpakuto and the different relationships characters have with their Zanpakuto, it makes it even better. Also, holy!!! The animation and direction went so hard. It's wild this was 2011.

Jenny D

These were some great battles! Shuhei and Izuru have interesting swords. It's Yumichika. Really liked his swords true form. He is definitely an interesting guy. It's interesting how both he and Ikkaku hide parts of their power because they want to stay in squad 11.

Warsame

I FEEEEEEELL YOU!!!!

Aluri Anirudh

you guys could always watch the filler arcs if you feel bleach is ending soon, the filler arcs in bleach are so goated, better than many seasons in other anime imo, my ratings are gotei 13 invading army arc > zanpakuto rebellion arc > shusuke amagai arc, not even gonna include bount cuz iykyk

shinigamiO.O

I find it funny that the Geks are calling 80 episodes as “close to being done.” 🤣 I’m currently watching their HunterxHunter reactions and it’s repeatedly brought up back then how 148 episodes is long or how Death Note at its halfway point is the equivalent to the story barely going in HxH. They’ve really changed and gotten used to the long shounen anime pacing. 😁

shadowwalker

LMAO you're so right McKay, shoulder pads in this verse is great idea

Daniella

Oh Byakuya's my husband yeah we do poly activities over here 😊

aj1294

Great episodes!!

aj1294

Yess

DarynkaD Bleach

Hi, Geks) Final reminder! The anime didn't adapt two important manga chapters about Hitsugaya and Matsumoto: chapter -12.5 (169), 'Blooming Under a Cold Moon,' and chapter -16 (-016), 'To Die on an Ice Field'.

Lorenzo

Me neither

Alex Ramirez

30:31 WRONG! Kubo is always dunking on Hisagi in his Q&As. He's always bullying my boy, he's constantly catching strays in his answers 😭 (It's a running gag with Kubo)

wileykat

Shuhei's fight went bananas

shadowwalker

Cannon as a certified Orb enjoyer you don't need to take hype and aura accusations seriously

Alex Ramirez

I love Hisagi, hes my favorite lieutenant. Izuru Kira is a close second.

Declan Palmer

yeah these fights are painful to us only because we know the peak thats coming. for side character fights theyre actually really good. only gets better though.

monsterhead

Why we don’t got a single striker on the field😡😡😡

T.Yaseen

Kira is a fking demon Lmao

Congrats

whats the situation with the fullscreen?

HaoHao 9

Me when I have the pride of squad 11 but will break it when no one is looking.

tami

Jules

Kare, Kazasheni

Lance

I really dig both Izuru and Shuhei's convictions. They just strongly appeal to me for whatever the reason. Love this series man

T.Yaseen

Hisagi vs Findorr fight is always a great watch. Just a really well done fight in all aspects.

Daniella

Fun fact Hisagi got so popular that he got his own light novel series called 'Can't fear your own world' by Ryōgo Narita but Kubo also oversaw it to make sure things aligned with manga. It takes place after tybw so don't look anything up lol! Also we did learn a tiny bit about Hisagi in the pendulum arc with how he got inspired by Kensei plus we also learnt that Kira is close with Momo and Renji espeically during their academy days but same i wish we got a little more :)

claws019

Hisagi has a huge fan base just fyi

tami

Hisagi poem - so much sauce

tami

dripped out

tami

Kira poem (from back in soul society but seems fitting with his mentality)

kai

aka himsagi mr. 69

Alexander

Just fyi this Hisagi fight in the manga was only 1 chapter. The studio not only gave it amazing animation but expanded it into a full episode of peak

QUARTZ QUANTUM

Funny you guys brought up the idea that kubo likes hisagi because there's a running joke that he actually dislikes him and intentionally disses him (like saying he's bad with women and can't hold a drink)

tami

Btw ep 227 is also filler, it should go 226 ---> 267

kai

dont ever play with kira and hisagi they 10 toes down decapitating mfs ikkau and yumichika get up off the floor!

ThirtyStik

ITS LIKE ITS MADE FOR REAPING LIVES

QUARTZ QUANTUM

Glad you guys enjoyed Kira and Hisagi, pretty underrated characters, would also like to share some ideas on their characters that were expanded on in these episodes: These episodes share a similar message for both of the characters, what I mean is that even though their respective captains betrayed them they still left an impact on their philosophy and that both of their philosophies share the idea of avoiding battle via different means (as stated that squad 3 teaches people to view battle as something ugly and bleak, squad 9 teaches that to even engage in battle you first must fear it) And some bonus symbolism regarding the Kira fight. He fights Abirama, whose resureccion is literally just a bird, and ultimately makes him his prey, which is interesting because Kira's captain Gin has obvious snake symbolism.

Potato

I miss the old subs that would translate the names of abilities and names on a separate part of the screen. When Kira says "That's why it's called Wabisuke" it says "Wabisuke = penitent one". Feels like it gives better impact when you know the names meaning

wileykat

Common @waywardjoe banger

Daniel Walker

A little bit of backstory on the Hisagi episode and why it has such high animation quality. Apparently, it was more people working on this episode and most of the people involved were Hisagi fans, the animation and storyboard director with some high profile animators. So, basically it was a crazy (accidental or not) line up of people who happened to be Hisagi fans. This specific episode is talked about widely in the Bleach community especially amongst newcomers. It's considered top 10 best episodes in OG Bleach, all cuz of the hard work and love the staff poured into it!

Jules

Its comparative analysis sir, to see how far theyve come and to see its 80 episodes left and theyre at episode 219, they are more than halfway and it feels closer with each episode. Hope this helps

지원

i mean this is best fight so far in bleach

Jules

EP 227 is in the manga; they just put it in a weird spot.

Matthew Savage

It didn't look like the subtitles explained Kira's zanpakuto correctly; at the end of the description it just said "That is why it is called Wabisuke". The translation was missing. Wabisuke means "The penitent one". Someone who is penitent is hanging their head in sorrow, just like Kira explained. That's why the blade is shaped that way, so that when they hang their head, he can lop it off (that part was explained).

tami

Yeah I checked and it’s from early in the manga, feels like it’s really out of place to watch it here and I think it would be better if it was skipped and maybe revisited later (don’t think it’s super important either) but Algs either way

Kona

Kira is so frickin gooooood

tami

Whatttt I had no idea

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! The lieutenants are cheffing

G’Rale Gambino

Yeah no doubt I worded that aggressive but it was just funny “with the hindsight”

llB0JANGLESll

I do not remember this episode AT ALL but HOLYYYY. Glad to watch this for the first time here. Dang

jesus valerio

You guys aré so sold on bleach AND this isnt even the main event, the main event, the real peak Is about to come. But there Is a little more sprinkles in the way to It, like these episodes

Stefan

Canon throughout Shuhei's fight

shadowwalker

haha thats awesome, i love recommending it to people. everyone loves it!

Gui Brawl

One of the most straightforward ones, but still great to analize and hisagi's character

bigdog

heck yes sick eps!!! IM EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joshua Lederman

Wow this is so much better than I remember it. Awesome batch

Joshua Lederman

I seriously cannot wait to see their reactions to what’s coming

Jason Huynh

The pretty guy's opponent, Charlotte Culhorne, did die. Just died slowly since he was drained of all his life energy.

Christian F

Bro wtf. I've watched bleach so many times and I don't remember ever seeing this fight with Kira. Wtf was that lmao. That was dope. And then the frigging Hisagi episode. When I think back on bleach, I only really think about the main crazy fights with the main characters. I totally forgot about these fights. This was a good set of episodes. Especially the second one.

Ezra

Guys just so u know there is only one bankai that is activated without saying it in the entire series, only bankai when they say it. Ik a lot of shikai look like they should be bankai. Hope this helps

LuvStarburst

Kiras sword "The Penitent One" or "Apologizer" basically brings you down to your knees with its power, like you are sorry or apologizing to your enemy. If you guys understand physics or anything of the sort Kira's ability is really scary, cause if he hits something enough times and keeps doubling its weight, it can collapse into itself and create a black hole. Also, Hisagi's sword is "Wind of Death," and the bakudo he used was "100-Stepped Rails" Cannon Ikkaku did have his sword out in its released state, him being able to split his spear up is just a form to his shikai. Squad 11 5th seat Yumichika Ayasegawa

March Natapat

Same here. Although, the old subs translate everything, for example, Shunpo translates to Flash Steps. I wish there would be subs that do “name (translation)”.

Herber

Man the fights 😮‍💨

Maj

Can't believe I haven't seen this pic posted yet

1999

Those red lobster biscuits have been my favorite since I was a kid

Maj

Can we block peope on Patreon? I come here to escape my real life struggles

__Blank__

McKay- “These Kabuto characters piss me off so bad” Love the Kabuto hate transcending the anime😂🤣

monsterhead

okay i forgot how good these episodes are

kuza

kiras va is also reigen, geto, giyu and sasori btw 😌

kuza

hisagi vs findorr really turnt up the animation

kuza

love how the geks always notice the animation changes i feel like some reactors just somehow dont notice lmao

DonDuh103

That 69 fight was so randomly good! Like no yapping and what talk was had was great and showed us 69s character, same with Kira.

DonDuh103

Ain’t no way Ikkaku is out bro didn’t even pop his Banki🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

kuza

these are not painful lol what

McKay Carter

Animation looking way better this episode!

Uncle Tsukishima

Maaaan I forgot how good the Findor fight was. Animation, dialogue, fight choreography and pacing, and especially the music placement. All top notch.

Huxley Bennett

Obviously you had an answer for Yumichika's ability being his true shikai rather than bankai, but just for future reference: Shikai command = "instruction" "name" Bankai command = "bankai" "new name" E.g. "scatter, senbonzakura" then "bankai, senbonzakura kageyoshi" They'll offscreen the commands at times, but I think you hear it for every 'first' release. Hisagi vs Findorr is actually so good I thought it was filler when I first saw it (Pierrot always used to cook extra hard on filler animation for some godforsaken reason)

Daniel Walker

Probably, honestly! On a personal level folks put it anywhere between numbers 3 to 6, hence why I mentioned top 10 cuz that's for sure.

Jonas Teigen

Yeah, it’s definitely a priority episode, and a lot of talent worked on it. Really impressive for 2011 tbh.

Shockbile Gaming

wasnt Hisagi his favorite that what i heard i dont know

Alex Ramirez

Mayuri and Szayelaporro are his favorites. He cosplayed as Mayuri and he doesn't even hide the fact that he likes Szayelaporro because he's constantly drawing him out of all the villains and his light novel retcons

Jeff

I really think you'd guys like World Trigger. Season 1 has such good highs but they are doing a remake that will hopefully make it shine even greater. Maybe that'll be the time!

Nami Swannn

Hisagi’s shikai being a scythe is just so coollll the only grim reaper like weapon in a show about grim reapers 😭

Trae Young Supremacist

mine is spoilers dont look ep 9 and 10 of cour 1 kenpachi. beautiful storytelling, foreshadowing and action sequences. so many of the tybw fights are great im glad nemu got screentime in the mayuri fight

Trae Young Supremacist

Timestamp: 06:47 is crazy. i was looking at my phone and heard something completely different

Ninjinzo

idk if 'filler animation' is the correct term. Cos it's still canon at the end of the day, the fight was just expanded on by the animation team and direction. Similar to the Sukuna and Mahoraga fight

Julio cruz

I loved the music playing after Hisagi's release, I think I replayed it like 10 times when I first watched this episode. I saw Carter trying to listen as it was playing, just too much talking over it, which is fine, it was an exciting fight!

Huxley Bennett

Oh yeah no, this definitely isn’t filler. The actual filler would often have the best animation tho, so when I first saw this I thought it was just another case of that lol

Sammy

When Jack said that Tite Kubo must like Hisagi a lot, I had a big grin on my face 😁 Kubo really regards Hisagi as the true definition of a Soul Reaper 🤍 Love his philosophy "Those who do not fear the sword they wield have no right to wield a sword at all." Shoutout to Kira for the coldest kill ever 💀🔥👏 Btw, the new OST (in ep 219) is called "Fade to Black_B13a" 🧡

Gui Brawl

That one's very good!! Very underrated, maybe because its not as flashy its not mentioned as much Its a fight thats been in the making since the beginning

GruntRule

Kira doesn't even need to pull his sword to decapitate someone, once his sword starts cutting them his ability kicks in and there's nothing they can do to stop it.

KazumaSpitfire

How did I never think about that. It's so dark, I like it.

walkman

Wasn’t expecting 219 to be one of my favorite episodes of the series but here we are!
