Nice. As for how Dio was defeated, it has been hinted since early in the part that Johnathan's body was rejecting him. The most prominent foreshadowing was in an earlier episode when Dio hurt both his finger and the left and right, and said that his left took longer to heal. When Jotaro broke his legs, the left knee of The World was wore down from the slower healing factor so it broke.

i agree that i think dio was killed in this fight a little too easily but you have to remember the left side of his body, where Jotaro punched him, was the weakest part. Dio was already arrogant enough but being leveled up by Joseph's blood brought him to a point of such confidence that convinced him he could beat Jotaro with the weaker side of his body with a leg that was just destroyed. Meanwhile, Jotaro was being empowered by his rage of seeing his grandfather dying and his corpse being desecrated so he had a will strong enough to take advantage of that. Stands are manifestations of the soul and at that moment Jotaro's soul far surpassed Dio's. If it weren't a battle of stands, Jotaro would've been killed in that specific clash easily.

2 fun facts 1. This was originally the finale for the jojos series but the author decided to continue and made the series so iconic 2. When Jotaro is 'flying' in the manga hes actually jumping with his stand and holding on to it, but the anime misinterpreted it because of all the talking lol. About the pre-opening scene, the composition is a throwback to the Volume 28 cover of the shinshoban comic edition. One scene of the final battle uses really particular colors, as DIO is purple here and Jotaro's uniform turns blue. And if we had the color of the aura surrounding the characters, I think that the color scheme is rather good overall. As for the action, every scene is very energetic and classier than ever. The final nail being the road roller scene, with this completely crazy pummeling. DIO finds himself cornered and is heavily bleeding. It feels funny to see him diminished like this. He was such a charismatic man, but even he can only break against the Joestar family. The last part is a straight dash to the conclusion while leaving Joseph some time for a bad joke. We can now weep in front of the airport scene. Jotaro is looking at the group photo while lightly smiling. We had added this final scene during the finalization of the storyboard. Jotaro is 12 years older than Josuke, and a line y’all might have missed is Jotaro mentioning that when he was 4, Josuke “probably had a bad illness for 50 days.” That would line up with the 50 days that Holly was sick, meaning he and Holly both got Stands here.

So I'd like to say, Part 4 feels like a huge shift in artstyle, because it is! Hirohiko Araki himself constantly evolves and changes his artstyle over his 40+ year tenure as a manga artist. Part 4 represents a metamorphosis of Araki's art turning more towards realistic proportions and a emphasis on fashion, and this style will continue to evolve and look different every part as he fine tunes his personal tastes. He's now the only manga artist featured in the Louvre in France for his very unique style. Also, the same goes for the color work. This part starts to adapt Araki's color choices way more faithfully and more often, and takes his approach of coloring and linework into consideration for the animation. I think it'll grow on you. Part 4 is really a great time, excited to be here.

Yall should've just watched the whole Dio vs JoJo and the boys fight in the same session it would've hit different . Watching it the nx day or the nx week is so ass in my opinion. The thing for me about shows is always stop at a good note, not a cliff hanger or mid fight when you know crazy stuff could happen.

Loved the critique of the part at the end, thought it was spot on. I 100% agree with McKay, I love part 3's finale but it really just lacks 2-3 episodes for it to completely live up to the buildup. Still, short and intense af, rarely seen this kind of intensity in a final battle before. Personally the thing I love the most is that the characters never joke around with their battle. The author never makes up lame excuses like "they're just warming up" and never adds useless stuff. The author always makes them go for the kill and despite that he still manages to create an insane back and forth. Just a few more episodes would have made it perfect though. As to the way Jotaro wins, there's multiple theories. Most popular one is that Dio used his weaker left side to kick Jotaro. It's a full force final clash and Dio ends up using his left leg, the side that heals slower according to what he said to Hol Horse, as a result of his neck not being fully healed and Jonathan's body resisting him. The leg Jotaro just crushed earlier. Some people disagree with this since the story does say Dio needs a Joestar's blood to fully heal, and that's what he ends up obtaining, but that's also debatable since that's only according to Dio himself, whom we know to be deluded. The fact he literally splits in two at the end kinda corroborates that, indicating that he never really fully took over Jonathan's body. The other one is that Jotaro literally got angrier than ever before and powerscaled thanks to that. As cheesy as this might sound, they do insist a lot on Jotaro getting angrier and angrier, and it contrasts starkly with the way Joseph insists on fighting. Joseph like to calm down, keep his head cool and collected (something he likes to repeat throughout this part) and that's also what he advises Jotaro to do in his fight. But Jotaro decides on doing the exact opposite, intentionally. So for me that's what Araki was going for here. It makes sense in a way, since we usually know Jotaro to be perfectly calm and stoic, but the beginning of part 3 literally started with him trying to control himself so as to not hurt the people around him. It's his nature to be cool and collected, because if he didn't, he'd end up hurting the people around him. Which is why he put himself in jail. And that's what he needs to let go of against Dio. Both theories are not mutually exclusive ofc, I certainly at least think the fact Dio got split in two is meaningful, if not only on a symbolic level.

Oh, v-very pretty!! Part 4 Ep 1 Commentary “I was in charge of the storyboard for this first episode. Part 4 and Part 3 are very different in nature, and the question came down to how we could "change the flavor" of the show. Because of this, I needed a whole month to finish the storyboard (bitter smile). We also had to rethink how to manage the colors in general. The opening scene directly presents what the audience may guess [REDACTED]. This scene was made to be as natural as possible, just a simple preview of the oncoming storm. Since episode 1 only revolves around the cast, there aren’t a lot of major events, and nothing has been resolved. However, thanks to the strength of the original manga, nothing stagnates and everything flows naturally toward episode 2. In terms of directing, I tried to give off the rhythmic feeling of a Music PV through rapid shot sequences. I think that overall, we’ve started off strong, don’t you think? Morioh Town Radio’s jingle was discovered by Yasuko Kobayashi, the writer. She was looking for “this little something that would be pervasive to the whole town”, and she found it. It really gets stuck in your head, it’s crazy (laughs)! I hope this was a good surprise for you too during the broadcast.” - Naokatsu Tsuda

Also DIO thought Joseph would make him complete but one of the main themes of this entire part was the Jonathan and the whole joestar bloodline rejecting DIO. So u can infer the same thing with Joseph’s blood. At least that’s how I view it.

so i'll clarify this since you guys might have missed it cause Jotaro was laying a lot of info out there. Josuke was deathly ill for 50 days in 1987/8 when he was four. They left for Egypt the following year in 1988. Remember it was the 80's then and now we're in the 90's. So unfortunately Joseph didn't cheat because of Dio however if you remember in part 2 he literally flirted with multiple women any chance he got, even his own mother before he knew that was his mother. He's never one to deny beauty. I love Joseph and i get why people think he can't cheat and that it tarnishes his character but remember he told Suzie to fix her face before dating her. He's never really been the best dude. remember folks even Hugh Jackman is a cheater.

im not sure if anyone mentioned it already (couldnt find a comment abt it), but Araki had only planned for Jojos to last 3 parts. Since the story was so popular, by demand, he continued it after the conclusion of part 3, but Josuke being a “bastard” child was not really planned from the beginning like the 3 previous parts were, aka, Joseph was not planned to be a cheater from the beginning. Araki wanted to explore the Jojo linage and new dynamics between Jojos, hence why your typical father-son dynamic isnt what he was looking for in part 4. I’m making this comment cause yeah, we can let the idea marinate and convince ourselves that Joseph “always” had the traits of being a cheater, but its not wrong to feel like its also out of character, because it quite literally was, to some extent.

The reason Dio got obliterated is because Star Platinum overpowered the World. Dio may be a vampire, but The World is NOT, and he's still a stand user, and any injury inflicted to a stand is inflicted to the user. If you think about it, a vampire having a stand almost becomes a weakness, because by dealing massive damage to his stand, the manifestation of his soul, even a vampire body can be damaged far beyond what a normal attack can do to it, so much that it couldn't regenerate quickly. In essence Dio lost because he was cocky and over-reliant on his stand, the moment someone with a counter to time-stop showed up, he lost. And because his stand was so strong he didn't even develop his vampire powers to half of what Straizo did. There's also the possibility that having a human body below the neck (instead of his original vampire body) made his vampire powers a lot weaker. Hence why we don't see eye lasers or anything like that.

Just so you know, part 4 is heavily inspired by twin peaks! Which is a tv show about a murder mystery in a small town with a lot of strange (or should I say bizarre) stuff and great characters. So yeah, we’re staying in this town for a while! It has one of the best if not the best jojo villain. First time I watched, I found it a little strange too, part 3 is so much of an adventure it can feel a little too plotless being around the town with no epic journey, however, if you let this charmful neighborhood get to you, you will love it! For me the star of this season is the villain but I also love the friends we will make in this bizarre adventure. Enjoy!

Just to clarify, since you guys seemingly missed it; Josuke was (part) 4 when he "suddenly became sick for 50 days" 12 years ago, so he's currently 16, with Tomoko currently being 37. Meaning that Joseph was being a doity dawg on one of his previous visits to Holly (or Japan in general, he is a real estate mogul after all), before DIO's return. His moniker JoJo comes from the fact that "Suke" (助) can be read as "Jo" when using On'yomi (ie "Sound Reading"), which is sort of hinted at by the fact that he gets the moniker from the bully reading his school ID.

Also, the animation/style change is due to the fact that the Part 4 manga gradually went from the Part 3 art style to this "softer" artstyle (although not as soft as the anime presents it) and then kept it for the parts from here on out. David Productions probably didn't want to have like 3 different character concept sheets for one part, so they just stuck with the style it would eventually end up as. Part 4 in the anime is very experimental over all with how they use colors, too. But it fits the overall vibe of the part.

Part 4 is my personal favorite. I love everything about it. Goodbye old Joseph pfp, twas a pleasure. SPOILERS Every episode ends up mattering in some way. Either by affecting the plot later, character growth, or even developing Morioh. Morioh feels very alive and is built up and expanded upon throughout. The only episode that ends up not mattering too much is the rock paper scissors episode, but it gives me more Rohan, so no complaints from me.

Part 3 has imo the greates highs but also to a degreee the lowest lows but only in small quantity. The chemistry of the crusaders and the journey still makes it most likely the most beloved part of the show besides maybe part 4

Part 4 is the first Part in JoJo's that took place in the future when the manga was releasing. Part 4 serialized in 1992 and takes place in 1999. Araki was originally not planning on continuing JoJo's past part 3, so he had to do something to make a new JoJo. It's why I believe he made Joseph a cheater so another JoJo could exist without a big enough gap. Joseph Joestar will still be my favorite JoJo, Josuke Higashikata is a close 2nd.

To anyone saying it makes sense for Joseph to cheat just because he was a trickster, you're mistaken. Joseph is a family man, he hated just upsetting Erina for any small reason. He wouldn't do anything to actually hurt any family members, especially as serious as cheating. That's the line his character was supposed to draw. However, Araki did not want Jotaro to be that old yet and he wanted a part to be set in Japan. Hence, it was left to Joseph to father another child. This is just plot convenience and Joseph's character was sacrificed for it.

And since all stats are limited to between D-A in Part 3 we dont actually know how much more growing room SP has. All this to say SP simply caught up to The World due to its higher potential.
