This is one of the best written episodes in the show so far, IMO. This episode really tests your sympathies, honestly, like you feel conflicted because Hye-yeong’s mother’s worries are extremely valid, since in her daughter’s situation, it’s very easy for Hye-yeong to get trapped in a vulnerable or a dangerous situation. So, while I don’t believe that the mother’s a villain, her actions also don’t allow for her daughter to decide her own fate or have authority over her life. Overall, as conflicting as this episode was, it raises a lot of really good points & areas for discussion.

I knew ya'll would get antsy and nervous about that kiss scene on the balcony but I love how it captures the innocence of first love perfectly and how it looks out into the city where the lights glimmer against the evening sky. This makes it that much more romantic and really sets the mood.. It helps that Junho is guiding her through all the steps to ensure she feels safe, comfortable, and special next to him. She's his whole world. He's deeply in love but wants to be careful and approach it delicately so she doesn't get hurt. Awww I'm beyond happy for them. Everytime I see it, I get flustered and excited for our lovely whale couple, Junho and Young-woo. I always say this but he's so gentle and patient with her. It's what she needs the most navigating this new unfamiliar territory. He's such a green forest. I'm glad they have each other. Poor Carter he was getting so scared and worried barely able to look at the scene while cringing so hard. And Cannon saying how she's going to fall off the rails... umm that would be bad. I can't get enough of your reactions. They are so amusing. I could tell your hearts were definitely doing somersaults the whole time. McKay and Jack were overjoyed and felt an instant victory when our leads eventually locked lips. But yeah most kdramas, the romance is a slow burn that gradually builds little by little to keep you reeled in wanting more. You get crumbs until the entree later on. I love it but sometimes it gets frusturating and makes you eager to see more progress. However in this situation it makes sense like Jack said. Still, I wonder if ya'll would be able to handle a full fledge romance in a Kdrama... I probably would laugh so hard 😂

I felt so bad for hairy boss. He was trying his best to impress Suyeon on their blind date. But it sucks how nervous and awkward he felt which caused him to quickly resort to really really bad Dad jokes. But at least he tried. I think he's also just a litle socially awkward in general which can't always be helped. But I don't think it was nice of her to just ditch him like that without giving him a proper chance first. It was very rude. He didn't deserve it. Sorry McKay your dreams got crushed.

This must’ve hit really deep for Young-woo, since she probably saw a bit of her own struggles in Hye-yeong. So, defending Hye-yeong’s right to love, regardless of her disability must’ve been extremely personal for Young-woo, especially with her own relationship with Jun-ho starting.

Accepting this role definitely must’ve been a huge responsibility for her, since she was portraying the struggles & difficulties of an entire community on screen. It’s a difficult role, but she was phenomenal as Attorney Woo, truly 🫶.

Junho's friends more like rats didn't believe or think he could actually be in love with Young-woo because she's autistic and only thought he was being nice to her not realizing that he genuinely holds deep feelings that are unwaivering. For the first time in his life, he's found someone he wants to cherish, love, and protect. That scene made me respect him even more. He's such a good decent guy.

No, seriously, this ep is sooo interesting because you can really understand everyone. The girl loves the gigolo, but she WAS assaulted because she felt like he would be sad if she didn't engage in the act, which in fact is coercion. The mom was really invasive and controlling, but you can also say that she was just trying to protect her daughter... yk. Also, the kiss scene is so sweet i was all smiles lolol I always look forward to Wednesdays because of this show, and I really loved the reaction. Thank you guys! 😊

I think the show does a pretty good job of creating nuanced scenarios. I think in this case it did really seem like he was a "predator" or even a fetishist, considering that he had a history of taking advantage of people with disabilities. But I think it works as a foil to attorney woo's budding relationship to show that junho's intentions are pure and genuine.

I liked their first kiss, it was adorable. Just a question, Older people (like in their 30-40s) dating 18 year old is weird even though it is legal, cause there is still a gap in mental development. Even though an 18 year old can make choices independently, them choosing to date someone in their 40s would seem like older person is using their immaturity. Someone with IQ of a 13 year old, isn't it kinda weird that he was dating her? I assume he is in his 20-30s. And him having sex with her even with permission, isn't it the same as getting a consent of a 13 year old? Is she fully aware to what she is consenting?

i see what u mean, but at the same time its still more complicated than that bcuz at the end of the day shes 27. regardless of whether she were to date someone younger or older than her (which he was stated to be younger than her) unless she managed to find a romantic interest in someone who had a similar developmental age, its not so easy to match her either which way. in the case of neurotypical indivisuals the assumption is that they r going to grow and mature in a way that roughly reflects that of their same aged peers, so an older person preying on someone barely legal is weird af - but for her it seems somewhat implied that 13 is roughly where her development stops around, and ofc she 1000% shouldnt b with anyone whos physical age reflects her mental age either. but is it fair to say that bcuz of her disability she shouldnt be able to make adult decisions regarding her own personal autonomy that she would otherwise be entitled to? provided with the proper knowledge she should still be capable of maintaining at least a base understanding of what consent entails...but at the same time, many of those in the episode question her ability to defend herself against trespasses on her boundaries regardless. its definitely not an easy question to answer, and i dont think its as simple as a 40yr old and 18yr old cuz those have more clearly defined bounds and lines. all that said - 100% the guy was a weirdo either way given his history of purposefully positioning himself in those spaces, using them for money, and guilt tripping her during intimacy. he definitely deserved some sort of punishment and mark on his record, even if its unfortunate that its not what hye-yeong wanted :( in some ways it kindve feels like a double whammy tho, where neither he nor her mother truly respect her intelligence/autonomy and shes stuck trying to please them both

While he claimed to love Hye-yeong, evidence revealed he had previously targeted another woman with a disability and had financial motives. Critics felt Woo Young-woo's empathetic defense riskily humanized someone who exhibited predatory "grooming" behaviors. And Some viewers and advocacy groups felt the narrative subtly reinforced a paternalistic view suggesting that individuals with intellectual disabilities are incapable of understanding love or consenting to sexual relationships. Similarly, Episode 11 sparked a great deal of debate.

oh yes, i mean fs the episode sets up the guy as some kind of predator! but at the same time i think it opens the door to ask if she found someone junho-esque, would it be ever be appropriate? or will the waters always be muddied lest she find someone whos similar to her? i have a friend who works at an adult school for ppl like hye-yeong and shes mentioned how 2 of their clients started dating, but it can be kindve of rough cuz the guy can b quite emotionally manipulative - at the same time he doesnt have the same understanding of things or the impact of what hes doing so its not an easy thing to handle. its unfortunate that it seems it can be rather complicated either way :( im also reminded of a side character on the pitt (if uve ever seen it) who seems to have found a healthy relationship in the same sort of set up tho, and with shows like love on the spectrum id like to think that everyone has an opportunity to find their match, should they want one! either way, i truly hope ur cousin can find/recieve all the proper love and understanding he needs!

I just saw ep9, why are y'all on Woo's biological mom's neck 😭!? She didn't even want to have the baby to begin with but Woo's father guilt tripped her and begged her to keep it and she told him her conditions. Then he broke them by telling Woo about her mom, even if she already knew her mom was alive she still didn't know her identity.
