Another upload, that's great. Ram said in a previous episode that Roswal is the greatest magic wielder of Lugunica so yeah flying, not that big of a deal to him .Also, to answer Carter's question, Subaru doesn't want to die at all. As he said in this very episode, it's what scares him the most. And he wasn't joking, you can either assume that since he died many times it's easier for him to die or that he's the person who knows best how terrible it is to die and thus wants to die even less than a normal person. That last time was a bit of an exception because he realised that Rem and Ram were the ones who had given him some relief by helping him finally get some rest. Ever since he was isekai'd, it's been nothing but one painful experience after another, with barely any opportunity to recover. Even the one time when he's supposed to be able to recuperate, while sleeping, he's plagued by nightmares. So being able to finally get some proper peace meant a lot to him, that and him not wanting to just give up on everyone and leave since he has come to love them all. As well as another reason. Also I hate to sound like a broken record but everything connects in this show, so if you don't know why something is there or is happening, even a detail, there is a reason.

Omfg this is like my 4th rewatch and I just noticed a bit of Season 2 forshadowing

Now I can explain what I said in episode 3. So here is what Betty said right before she expelled Subaru and he went to sleep: 24:46 — Betty: “This has nothing to do with Betty, I suppose…” So now that we know about the curse, and that Betty is the only person in the entire household who can see them, we can look back at the very first night she met Subaru. She actually saw that he was cursed, right before his very first death. Yet, instead of warning him that he might have a potentially life-threatening curse, she said nothing, expelled him from the library, and, once she was alone and simply told herself that it had nothing to do with her. This is a really good bit of foreshadowing. You could bring up that line to someone watching that episode for the first time, and they wouldn't be able to make anything of it. After all, the show presents Subaru's second death as the result of poisoning as we see the whole world around him becoming blurry and wobbly, he even shivers and says that he feels cold, poison is pretty much the only reasonable theory you can come up with at that point, McKay brought it up. I've honestly never seen anyone who reacted to this show and suggested magic as a possibility, but even if someone did, it wouldn't get them anywhere near the actual explanation. The real reason this is so impossible to figure out on a first watch is that the important pieces of information are introduced much later. curses that drain mana weren't introduced and we only learned last episode that Beatrice is the only one who can see the curses, and without knowing those things, there's simply no way to connect Beatrice's seemingly insignificant line in the library to Subaru's first death. You 'd have to remember those specific details too, choose them out of all the other details and somehow connect them with that one line. That's what makes this kind of foreshadowing so good. On a first watch, the line seems completely inconsequential, and you have no reason to suspect that it means anything. And even if someone brings your attention to it on your first watch you still can't make anything based on it and Rezero can be so dense sometimes it can take you full attention to try to not miss important stuff, let alone anything related to an ambiguous line, It's foreshadowing with 0 spoilers. Someone said that I shouldn't have pointed out this line in episode 3 but it spoils nothing as you can see and I'm pretty sure they don't understand the rational behind it or else they wouldn't have said so. Also Beatrice helped him in these couple episodes even though she says that that she doesn't want to have anything to do with him , that's a stark contrast from the very first time where she let him walk to his death, latter as she saw him despair and depressed, right before they made a contract when he was down in his bed she decided to help him. It's good to keep this in mind.

Alex

Carter is coming to Japan and he's NOT visiting me?! shocking behaviour XD

All might

plus he has no idea the checkpoint he'll wakeup at even tho it's kind of obvious to us viewers. I also think its best for him to learn as much info as possible before dying becasuse it'll help in the next life

Cosmonaut

So where’s the next episode?

Night Sterling

If we're not counting loops Subaru has been in the world for only a week

Ninjinzo

it really is the most bingeable show man

Ninjinzo

the level of foreshadowing was insane this batch

Branflakes

Peak:Zero is back! Man it's tough waiting a week when the story is about to pick up a lot! I've been catching up on the new season and this show just gets better and better

Kasumii_

the way Re:zero foreshadows things honestly kind of blatantly but in a way that literally means nothing to you on a first watch is just so good, like I feel like us people who are caught up are just watching a completely different show than the boys because there's so much stuff that's said so matter of factly that just means nothing on a first watch because you're literally like incapable of understanding it without hindsight, like I'm sure there's even stuff in S4 that we don't understand but LN readers lose their minds over, I feel like it's a very unique way of foreshadowing, it's kind of similar to AoT but even in AoT I feel like a really astute person could pick up on things and piece them together, in Re:zero if you don't know the history and all the powers at play I feel like you just cannot pick up on the foreshadowing (this isn't to say Re:zero or AoT does it better btw!!! just that they're both unique in the way they foreshadow stuff) also kind of random but this show is a very different experience with headphones, it very often plays around with the sound and uses binaural audio to make things sound like they're all around you, like when Emilia leaned in and whispered in Subaru's ear, at first she sounds normal then when she leans in the audio gets boosted and it sounds like she's right in your ear, and when Elsa was toying with Subaru as he was dying it was like her voice echos in your head, I think it's pretty cool

Dreamknight942

The show is pure chaos and we love it

Ninjinzo

lmao carter really cant trust anything in this show just like his aot reactions

Monica Thompson

Yeah I hope you guys remember this convo in the future because the foreshadowing in this show is so crazy

Khasar

Guys we gotta think about return by death (RBD) a little logically. 1. Subaru doesn’t know if RBD will always work. So he could just die. 2. He doesn’t know when the respawn changes. 3. Since he doesn’t know when the respawn changes, he could lose up to days, weeks, months or even years of work. 4. When he uses RBD, he still feels the pain of dying. And dying isn’t just something you can get over that easily. 5. etc.

TyyT

WE FEELIN DEMONIC TODAY BOYS one episode a week is killing me!! 😭

dash12321

What's even crazier is realizing that Subaru has lived almost a month's worth of time in only a week..

dash12321

Re:Zero is my all time favorite, I love how complex things can get, but it's so satisfying once you finally start unraveling the thread! It's easy to forget to put it into Subaru's perspective properly, but he's actually lived almost a full month in this world, but in actual world-time it's only been from a couple days from his mansion awakening, to a week up to his current longest death. I believe it's like 1 day for first arc, unconscious/half dead for a day, and like ~4 days x 4 times for current arc. Also I LOVE how people like betty start noticing how Subaru's reaction to 'dying' is starting to seem kinda weird. 55:55 Cannon - Subaru was doomed to die, but Rem still killed him SLOWLY. Rem is more than strong/skilled enough to kill him instantly (she's headshotting mabeast dogs instantly in this episode). Just like AoT, since this is based off an existing web novel/light novel, they are able to include many forshadowing clues that may not even come up again until a season or two later. Rewatching is a fascinating experience different from your initial watch.

Khasar

and for the reason why or at least the reason subaru suspects emilia saying her name was satella was because she thought that would drive him away and that she wouldnt burden him, being with her

Night Sterling

I love that the show has made carter paranoid to the point that he's so sus of everything now 😂

Enma

There were some things that were said this episode that was crazy to hear

strife

holy shit its john kagurabachi...

Moe

Just finished y’all’s Code Geass videos and that was my first time watching it. I never got to watch it with yall when you were dropping it but was really good! Was wondering if yall were gonna check out the new Code Geass show or even watch the trailer cause it actually looks really good and was hyped cause I just finished the OG and then they announced the new series!

rheed_

36:43 Diabolical take from Carter ngl 51:35 Patience... in time you'll see 54:04 There's just no way to see the full picture right now, but even from what we've been given so far I really don't think it's that confusing to see why Rem is acting the way she is. Simply put, Subaru is 1) a completely unknown element who could very well want to threaten Emilia and/or her position, and 2) he has the scent of the witch and the sisters seem to have some sort of connection in their past to the "Witch's Cult". But this initial distrustful attitude Rem has is being shaved away because this "loop" is really the first time Subaru's shown something genuine in his desire to help the village kids. For this show in particular it would be helpful to think a bit more deeply about the characters, their relationships, and their motivations rather than just the plot-level details. And this topic has been beaten to death (these drops have been so fire, this isn't a complaint but just a take), but the confusion and stuff is probably because of the Director's Cut. I think the episodic format is just more digestible. But I'm loving the theorycrafting from the guys post-episode, looking forward to next week!

Lemonsqueeze

To be fair he doesnt even know if he has unlimited resets. Its a risk he is taking every time he dies.

Daniel Stears

True forgot to mention these points.

Daniel Stears

" For this show in particular it would be helpful to think a bit more deeply about the characters, their relationships, and their motivations rather than just the plot-level details." THIS, you really hit the nail on the head with this. If you don't put your best into getting a good grasp of the characters, you can end up understanding far less of what goes through their heads than the writing actually allows, which can hinder your enjoyment of the show at different levels latter and I'm not necessarly talking about these past episodes but more for the future, Even though it applies here too, the character writing in these past episodes, aside from the obvious Subaru stuff, has been way too subtle for a first watch, and honestly, you can do just fine without picking up on all of it. I'm talking more about what's to come, when there'll be a LOT more material to work with regarding the characters: their intentions, reasoning, ideologies, and so on. I mean, it's pretty much impossible to fully understand every character on a first watch, but even having a decent or good understanding of them can go a LONG way toward enjoying one of the very best aspects of Re:Zero: its character writing.

Shiki

man, that head lap scene 🥹

Bioxard

I look forward to this the most out of every upload. Yall's reactions give me so much joy. Looking forward to more twists and turns.

ThaDoubleB

In the novels Subaru actually explains when he first arrives in the world that gravity feels lighter there, so that’s how he is able to do some of these feats.

Yoshi

"MISTER Perfect Cell" energy lol

Zess

Best show on the channel currently

BROCODEDUDE

Really? Wow this must eventually go absolutely nuclear then.

virJhin

It's a little late to comment this since he's not in this episode but the appa guy with green hair is All Might's VA 💀

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

good call with the dog jack! also for carters question of y subaru doesnt just off himself to deal with the dog, u gotta remember the man still hates dying 😭 he still retains the pain of each death, and its not an easy thing to just do to begin with, + theres still the concern that the returns may be finite - also imo i would def try and survive in each loop for as long as i could in case there was any clues i missed or knowledge to come that i wouldnt have going into the situation again otherwise

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

47:41 love how yall werent rly down with rem for the first half (valid) but then jack and cannon r out here worried for her wellbeing and as soon as she gets hurt we immediately have carter and mckay like 'nooo, no- we reset' 'reset! ☝' lmaoo

Jaxson

This is my first time watching and im really enjoying it so far. To all of the seasoned vets, how would you rank all of the seasons on enjoyment? I like the mystery aspect of the show the most so i hope they continue to dive into that quality

DonDuh103

Jack you could relive One Piece!!!

DonDuh103

Gave that doggy the Logan ending😭😭😭😭

DonDuh103

That Canine Pokimane just used Mud Slide😂😂

DonDuh103

Yo sign Rem and Subaru up for some football😂

Zess

All seasons stay of the highest quality so no worries there if youre already loving the vibe of the story. Personally next season is my fave, with the newest one being a really strong contender for first between it and this first season. Third is great too, but one has to be on the bottom lol

Zess

It's a consistent 10/10 for me personally in all of its seasons so far. Not everyone will agree, but it's the peak of its genre.

Izaya

Its the 5th episode of the Director's cut but its actually the 10th episode. Each director's cut episode is simply 2 episodes combined

Izaya

liking a character has way more to do then just based on if they like the main character or not. You like a character becaus eof their traits, their writing, their personality... if they like SUbaru one episode and hate him the other its still the same character

JojoJack

Happy Gintama Day

Jaydon Alonzo

I heard good show to binge at the end 👀

Pudding

Woohoo finally upgraded to juicy tier today for this show! Can't wait to also check all the other shows that are now available to me heheh like Violet Evergarden, Fate, Erased,..!!

TrueCrisp

Animeke

The dialogue in Re:ZERO is just 🤌

Zipzzty

26:40 Carter 😭

Daniel Stears

Some people will bring up MT, because the best isekai is either Re:zero or MT, there is no real third option tbh but I would disagree for MT. Rezero has better and sometimes way better writting in almost every aspect , the only thing MT does better is immersion and world building.

Daniel Stears

I would say that the best ones are season 1, 2 and 4. How you order them is personal preference tbh. Season 3 is great but I wouldn't call it amazing or peak unless you know about a great deal of cut content, only then does it stand on the same level (for the writting). Now season 2 is also the hardest season to understand and the one who is rated the lowest by most newcomers since on a first watch you can and will miss a ridiculous amount of things. Basically Season 2 has a ton of mystery but it's not very accessible and quite confusing on a first watch. I bet you would enjoy season 1 and 4 the most, they have a lot of mystery too but it's actually within reach for the most part.
