Love Deluxe vs Echoes ACT 2. Ep Commentary “This episode marks the first appearance of "Echoes ACT2". ACT1 had a difficult power to represent on screen, but this time the difficulty is taken up a notch since the sound is now materialized. The series director, Toshiyuki Kato, was in charge of the storyboard and the result was brilliant. I’m beginning to think I’m counting a little too much on him (laughs). Koichi reaches another level in awakening his Stand ability, and he looks alot cooler now. We finally understand why Yukako is attracted to him. Nonetheless, she remains a terrible person and even calls Koichi a “pissy pants” after the incident with the toilet in the episode's introduction. She’s terrible (laughs)! But she did manage to rightly judge the boy and see the man he would become. She must have an eye for that. Episode 8 and 9 are worthy of being apart of 'Part 4' and pride themselves on their suspense. Will Koichi fall for Yukako? Will he get killed? Is there another way out? I remember during the weekly publication, when we couldn’t read the following story yet, the tension was at its highest. And to see a main character like Josuke ending up completely useless was something quite new. “You guys took your time” Koichi says to them. But it’s worse than that, they completely missed the train (laughs)! The episode concludes on a catchy melody. It'll become a little habit that we'll repeat quite regularly.” - Naokatsu Tsuda

Talking about watching experiences I watched JoJo as my 1st anime and it set an example that I thought that every anime is so weird and BIZARRE like JoJo and just to say my dissapointment was massive. Not to say that there aren't better anime, its just that the vibe is unlike any other and I sought it out but to no avail.

echoes act 1: has the ability to add words/writing on any surface. can create sound effects or short sentences that reverberate, either out of inanimate objects or inside people. can use multiple sounds at once. 50 meter range echoes act 2: has the ability to add words/writing on any surface. the writing applied recreates the physical effect of the writing when touched. can only create sounds from the tip part of the tail and therefore can only have 1 sound effect active at a time. similar range to act 1 also for boing boing cape: koichi applied the 'boing' sound with act 2 to the rock with his tail piece, so when yukako touches it it bounces her up to shore. most likely koichi undid the effect offscreen, and the sailors at the end witnessed yukako falling and bouncing back, creating the urban legend and second landmark! also W pickles

Younger people might not know this, but old phones like the payphone here worked via sound. The buttons you push to dial didn't electronically select the number to call, they just made sounds. And when a phone picked up very specific tones, those tones would translate to numbers. That's why every number button has its own slightly different tone. The buttons made sounds, and the sounds told the phone what to do. This gave rise to a culture of "phone phreakers" in the 60s and 70s who could hack into landline systems by perfectly imitating the tones that were used. Famously, there was a toy whistle that came in a Captain Crunch cereal box that produced a perfect 2600hz note, which was exactly the tone used to override an AT&T phone line and enter operator mode.

Koichi’s power is kind of meta in the sense that it breaks the barrier of the manga medium. He sticks onomatopoeia onto things, and since in a manga those represent a sound and the event behind it, he basically makes those events happen. It doesn’t work as well in the anime as it does in the manga, but it still holds up since JoJo likes to show those manga-style sound effects on screen. So no, the effects aren’t permanent. Koichi is an interesting character imo. Not everyone likes him, and that’s fair, but I think some people miss the point of him. JoJo is full of absurdly tall characters who, whatever their flaws, are ready to risk their lives without a second thought, like in your average fighting manga. Koichi stands out because he’s the opposite: hesitant, scared, and nowhere near as ready for a fight as everyone else. It’s almost like he wandered in from a completely different story. In most other series, he’d be the typical high school protagonist, with a coming-of-age arc about growing up, getting thrown into the world and learning to face it. Seeing that kind of character in JoJo, which had been anything but that until then, is what made him exciting to me. Even more than for p3's Polnareff, it's also like there's a character that's more of a main character than the actual main character. I really like when stories do that, blur the lines that divide the hierarchy of importance. It's also what p3 liked to do with Jotaro, Joseph and Polnareff.

Since stands are manifestations of the soul, Echoes evolving feels like a reflection of how much Koichi is changing as a person too. When his stand first manifested, you could see how insecure he was and how much trouble he had standing up for himself, he had to learn to speak with confidence and use words to his advantage. But with Yukako, he realizes that words alone aren't always enough to get through to someone, so he needs a way to turn those words and his own will into something tangible. I love it, one of the coolest stand concepts tbh

Yes Cannon! I feel the same way with tomatoes. I dont mind sauces or whatever else is made with tomatoes but the tomato itself just has a terrible texture, I gotta take it off every time. Just wet and slimey feeling and the raw taste just is not that good either. But when you add it as a base and cook it, it really does elevate the flavor profile.

I dont know how McKay can doubt Koichi's rizz. Just look at him in the image above. He's stealing your girl with this one move. You guys are getting close to the next opening and I want to say it is safe for you guys to watch. There will be 3.5 people in the opening that you haven't seen yet but their appearance in the opening doesn't spoil anything to you guys. I think the majority of the JoJo fanbase finds the next opening to be the weakest one but it's personally my favorite because I like rock. It's also the shortest opening at 70 seconds compared to the regular 90 seconds. Musical references in this episode: Yukako's stand is named Love Deluxe after the album Love Deluxe by Sade. The song that probably describes her best would be Kiss of Life. Koichi's stand Echoes is named after the same song by Pink Floyd. I love this musical references because the song Echoes is 20 minutes long and you can notice the "acts" in the song. I love Echoes because Echoes Act 1 is "hear my words", Echoes Act 2 is "my words have meaning." It suits Koichi's character development so much, he's one of my favorite Jobros.
