2026-10-29 14:00 Over the course of the years, I noticed the One Piece fandom started to have a different take/perspective on Senior Pink and talk about how he was shitty for how he went about the whole situation prior to his wife becoming a vegetable. The fandom used to consider him the goat, but now a lot more of the fandom acknowledges that he was a bad husband and father for lying. I do appreciate him dressing up as a baby to see her smile, that is heart warming, but there are wayyyyy more better dads/husbands in One Piece. So nowadays some would call Senior Pink overrated😭 And honestly I agree 😭 Nonetheless, Oda, always EATS with the backstories, never fails. Ever character is this show has a story, I swear

2026-10-29 14:00 It’s so hard to rate between Marineford and Dressrosa because I believe Marineford is one of the best arcs in anime. And as for Dressrosa, one of the best arcs in the show and the amount of depth and writing into it *chef’s kiss*. I think it will be interesting post-discussion when you guys finish it😭 I remember at this point of the show, I toggled between Marineford and Dressrosa as my number 1, but both in my top 2

The thing I love about the fight between señor Pink and Franky is that essentially it is a parody in itself: They both personify themselves as these hardboiled men that don't feel their emotions or are distracted by such "petty" emotions as love, but as the fight goes on, they show themselves to be deeply caring and compassionate, all this whilst wearing the most ridiculous costumes known to mankind lol

I’m not the biggest fan of this arc because I watched the original anime and have a lot of issues with large chunks of this arc but who doesn’t like the Señor Pink episodes. Oda did a great job of giving a short backstory but making it impactful enough to attach to a character that I felt nothing for before hand.

This fight is still my favorite from this arc, even tho I don’t like Señor pink lol. Thematically it’s just so good because you see Franky and Señor pink gradually come to respect each other, and they’re actually pretty similar haha. They’re both macho men who dgaf about looking ridiculous to others but are actually huge softies underneath😭 I frikin love it. So glad you guys enjoyed it as well!! You didn’t get to see much of it because of one pace, but the comedic moments were so good too lmao. And as a fun fact, Señor pink’s backstory almost didn’t make it into the manga! but his editor was so moved by it that it ended up making it into the cut. All the members of the Donquixote family having backstories was apparently the original plan, but we didn’t get to see all of them in the same way. We got a bit of Baby 5’s tho! And this is a cover page Oda drew of the two of them sharing that drink and talking😭😭ofc they’re both crying

He is not everrated. He is not good person, but his story is very well written. Its a tragedy that he has no one else to blame but himself. He made wrong decisions cannot take back and he's walking man with a dead soul. There's no relief in his story. Thats why he is talked about so much. I liked senor pink because he's funny. For all these guys who say "Hot take but Senor Pink is a bad guy, IDK why people like him": Sr Pink isn’t a good guy. The story never pretends he is. The point of the backstory isn’t that his crimes stop counting but that the same person who did all that shit also spent years doing something quiet and pathetic out of love for a wife and kid who were already gone. Oda doesn’t ask you to forgive him. He asks you to sit with both things at once. Calling that “why does anyone like him, he’s objectively bad” isn’t some higher insight. It’s just refusing to engage with what the scene is actually doing. The editor cried and pushed to keep it in for a reason, and I doubt you can question his opinions or that of oda's for the choice to include this. I see the same stuff in the HP fandom where people make posts like "Hot take but Snape is a creep". Its so performative. We aren't raising a glass for the man, but to the writing.

The reason Dressrosa is above Marineford imo is bc Dressrosa explores several different relationship dynamics to get invested into: Lost parents, brother vs brother; Lost mother, Father protect daughter; Lost mother and child, insane father; Brothers reuniting, honoring lost brother; Cruel mother, easily manipulated daughter; savior idol worship vs fake savior idol worship; false kings vs real kings; undercover family traitors; etc. Marineford was mostly just brother lost brother; Father lost Son; and family lost Father. Marineford is like the big explosion in a firework show but Dressrosa is like the rapid fire session. Not sure if completely valid take, but thats how I perceived it

Maybe I only speak for myself here, but the reason I feel bad for him is because of how badly his own cowardice blew up in his face. He lied because he was terrified of losing her, but that just meant when the baby died and she went into a coma, he had to sit there knowing his own choices caused all of it. He's totally a victim of his own making, but watching a guy completely abandon his pride and dignity just to try and get a single smile out of his unresponsive wife is just a brutal kind of tragic. You can hate the guy and objectively he's a selfish criminal, but to me it doesn't take away from how sad his story is.

i totally DO like what they did with bellamy, and the resolution was good IMO. However, cannon I 100% agree with you and think everyone does. How long the bellamy stalling luffy scene goes, and how many times they show the same scenes of the bouncing etc is frustrating. its actually one of the things that frustrates people with the arc and why it gets a bad rep, the total picture is great, but it drags a little. Its worth it in the end though!

There's already a ton of comments that explain my thoughts on Snr Pink, but here's a little summary anyway: I think over time people have confused liking an out of nowhere, tragic backstory for a random weird villain we would've gotten to know nothing about, with actually liking and agreeing with the villain. In my opinion people say they like Snr Pink the way they say they like any other villain, take Darth Vader for example, you can feel for Anakin and how he was lowkey indoctrinated and manipulated his whole life, but it doesn't mean you support Vader's actions.

Completely agree. Liking a character isn’t endorsing him. Señor Pink works because the story doesn’t let you off the hook either way. You have to hold the cruelty and the grief at the same time, and that’s the whole point. the most joy i have with this channel is that at least one of them watched it already and keeps giving glances to the cam and also the dynamic of the reaction changes. one havivng "superior" knowledge and the others awaiting legendary exposure to serieses. The main reason I love them is that a couple "know more" than the other. And that feels like I am showing a good show to someone I wanted to for a long time and they always declined. So it makes the content i watch them react to like I watched it for the first time again because ipay a lot more attention to what is going on so i can predict the next scene so i can watch the newcomers react to it. But i need at least have one to be with them in the room to convey that feeling through that person to the ones that havent see it yet. if that makes sense. I actually wish for jack to finish the show or at least catch up to latest episode cotrary to what you said, to keep that feeling.
