Many 'big three' contenders have been around but I don't know if anything has really got to the levels of Naruto, Bleach and OP while all ongoing at the same time. Maybe I'm wrong. I think it was a thing of an times back then.

jojos did not influence the big 3 lol. dbz cant be in the big 3 because the big 3 refers to the manga that basically ran shonen jump, sales, and popularity around the world while being active at the same time in the early 2000s. dbz (was in the 70s or 80s i think) so its inspo for the big 3 and not in the same category. bleach specifically is heavily influenced by "saint seiya" which came out around the era of dbz. tite kubo said yesterday in interview that the authors of demon slayer and jjk told him they were inspired by him and that he likes that each generation will get inspo from their favorite works from the past

about soi fons bankai - zanpakuto reflect a person's character, she is an assasin so her shikai is a 2 hit kill which is stealthy, but her inner personality is that she is very short tempered and has a sharp tongue, so her bankai is very flashy and explosive and it is an upgrade to her shikai, as it becomes a 1 hit kill

Basically this Dragon Ball is the OG gramps. I think Big Three refers exclusively to One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach because they all simultaneously released during the 2000s to huge sales and viewership -- JoJo's def influenced the big 3 and a lot of anime. Tite Kubo drew art for its 25th anniversary. The manga was only huge in Japan for a long ass time until France weebed out over it. Plus it never got its anime adaptation until 2012 and it's just such a peculiar and unorthodox story that I'm not sure it'll ever fully break its cult status

On a re watch and watching reactions I think it’s funny but still I understand that he is really obnoxious and the anime filling out scenes didn’t help.

About shunsui, obviously if he knew the future he would probably use it, but maybe his bankai cant be used around others cause its too destructive or it has a wide range and it would caught other soul reapers, or its hard to control without cause destruction around him, like hitsugaya. Who knows...... Theres a million reasons on why he says he should not use it, do they make sense??? We'll find out when we learn more, hopefully

The Big 3 was just a title for Bleach, Naruto and One Piece because during a certain period during Shounen Jump, they were like the 3 biggest manga/anime in the world. They were at the time THE big 3 Also JJK, Chainsaw Man, and Hells Paradise are known as the dark trio. That’s kinda a new big 3 type title.

My thoughts on Fake Karakura Town Arc up to this point, I like the setup and adore the pillar fights, they don't occupy too much space and we learn alot, even the fracciones are pretty fun. Then we have soi fon and omaeda, which is okay but gets really bad because they decide to stretch it through 2 episodes. Whatever we learn about soi fon is swallowed by the bad pacing. Then it gets better again, not as much as the pillar fights, but pretty good. Haribels fracciones are fun and i enjoy their banter and matsumoto gets time to shine. Most importantly hinamori appears, and seeing her overcoming aizens grooming but still calling him captain and his indeference is great, also she gets to to cool combos. It reaches the peak with ayon. The desperation, the despair, godlike. And finishing the best way possible, with yamamoto scolding their weakness and showing whos boss. My highest peak up this this point Shunsui and starkk while it builds very slowly, and it can be too slow at times, its not for me. Sets up the foundation and gives a little breathing space from the other fights. Hitsugaya and haribel is a more brain powered battle which makes it stand out Barragan and soifon is good, bad with anime omaeda, fine with manga omaeda. Omaeda in the manga never got on my nerves as the anime, hes just fine, sometimes even funny with his stupidity. And now this episode, that helps mark the halfway point on the war. For me it starts out strong, has a couple of missteps and is able to eventually find its footing. Imo its pretty consistent.

The Big 3 are called the Big 3 because they were the biggest shonen running concurrently in shonen jump, the biggest weekly manga magazine, as well as being the one of first properties to grow a massive western audience. In the early 2000s and into the 2010s they were the anime and manga most people were talking about and gained the most popularity. Dragon Ball was popular but that was more like the 90s and the anime/manga community was smaller back then. It became larger due to the Big 3 largely being shown on tv channels like cartoon network/toonami at night. Dragon Ball is like the father of the western anime community specifically shonen anime, the Big 3 are like the parents, shows like attack on titan, my hero, JJK, Black Clover, are like the children.

To answer Mckay's question there wont be another big 3 again because the anime market and the way they produce anime is different today than it was in the 90s and 2000s. The Big 3 isn't a title to be bestowed to a new generation but more of a descriptor given to anime that came out at a certain time that was responsible for a large initial boom in anime/manga popularity in the west. Anime/Manga today comes out too fast and too much that caters to a wide variety of audiences. Any anime can be successful if it finds its niche and does it well enough due to the internet. Just look at Mushoku Tensei and Rent a Girlfriend. Like how the hell are these shows getting great anime adaptations releasing on a regular basis but something like Berserk or Gunnm can't. One Piece, Bleach, Naruto came out when there was really only one outlet with a limited internet ecosystem and more of a monoculture. Shows like JJK, My Hero, Black Clover, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan can be great and reach peaks but wont ever have anime market dominance like the Big 3 did at their prime. Back then you wouldn't ask someone in the anime community "what's your favorite anime (outside of the big 3)" or "what anime are you watching", you're asking "did you see the latest one piece/bleach/naruto episode".

Fun fact: Bleach's original name was actually supposed to be SNIPE. Rukia was intended to be the protagonist who used a scythe to fight while the other Soul Reapers were originally going to fight using magic guns. That Rukia design is actually used in the Bleach Movie Fade to Black. Some things to talk about during this episode: - The reason why Bleach looks blurry is because the Western release (streaming and physical) fucked up somewhere down the line during a major distribution and they never went back to fix it. US Blu-rays have low-resolution upscaling, poor remastering, bad widescreen conversion post episode 167 and streaming sites like Hulu and Disney+ use SD masters sourced from old interlaced TV broadcasts. So, for the best possible OG Bleach experience visually the best watch experience is the JP Blu-ray. - Since you were talking in the intro about being sad that we might be done with Bleach within the next 5 months, I think this is a good time to mention that there is some other stuff you could watch before entering TYBW. There is 4 movies, of which movie 1 is actually canon! I would highly recommend to watch, at the very least, movie 1. The other 3 movies are "concept and idea" movies. That's what I like to call them, lol. There is also a series called "Burn The Witch" that is recommended to watch AFTER TYBW. Another thing is that I would recommend to change your watch and upload schedule during TYBW. For example, many folks recommend to watch episode 5,6,7 together for the best watch experience for all of us, but as a compensation you upload just that during the week. Or that cour 2 of TYBW is a perfect two episode watch all the way. Then there is some episodes that are better watched solo, like episode 38. TLDR; you can extend the Bleach watch for another 3 months that way. - The "Big 3" refers to the three most influential and popular series who were dominating WSJ simultaneously during the golden age in the early 20s. Every single one of the "Big 3" were dominating the other two at some point thruout their publication, it was a constant back and forth but only between them, that some other shows fell flat for a very long time. The reason why there is even a debate about Dragonball being part of the "Big 3" is yet again the West. Although Bleach was extremely popular in JP and online on JP socials, in the West it wasn't as much (emphasis on "as much"), but what took away the spotlight from it was when social media took off in the West. One Piece and Naruto, together with Dragonball were way more accessible online on Youtube, illegal sites and these 3 were available to the West way earlier than Bleach, because of how dark, bloody and more mature Bleach was and still is. On top of that, western TV broadcasts aired Bleach way later, after midnight. Kids are usually not awake at that time. In 2010+ during a new wave of extremely vocal anime fans on top of the internet being at it's peak the entire denial of Bleach being part of the "Big 3" started.

Then you look at Europe or countries with public bath house cultures, and then it reverses lol boobs are the norm, blood is the rated R thing. To what Jack was saying at 8:10 to 9:00, in my opinion the new generation of anime's "big 3", should be changed to the title of New Gen 4 or Big 4, or something like that. I would put Black Clover, MHA, JJK, and Demon Slayer in the Big 4 of the new gen. All of them except JJK, are either over 100 or close to 100 episodes (Demon Slayer will eventually have 80+ episodes with 4 movies). The character and plot build up still happens in all of those shows with that many episodes. Jack, I just wanted to tell you my thoughts about this anime topic, not trying to debate or anything like that. (P.S - I do not care what anyone thinks, its MY OWN opinion)

I watched One Piece / Naruto / Bleach growing up and never really saw it sexually until one day my older sister was complaining I had a desktop wallpaper with a video game character I liked in an RPG with slightly revealing clothing. Then I started to notice it everywhere. It's kind of like how in Europe nudity isn't really as big of a deal. In America we make it such a big deal it's kinda weird.

I think the original big 3 was Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Yu Yu Hakusho. I almost said Inuyasha but after double checking it actually came out way later than I remembered (1989 for DBZ, 1992 for Sailor Moon, 1992 for Yu Yu Hakusho, and 2000 for Inuyasha). The final episode of DBZ was Jan 1996.

Just wanted to clarify some things on resurreccion, since all the information is really scattered. What happens when a hollow turns into an arrancar, is that their hollow power and attributes are sealed into a zanpakuto, giving them a more human appearance and conscience. When they release their sword, they're just partially reverting back to the hollow they were and that is sealed in the sword. Starrk is different because he doesn't seal his power in the zanpakuto, he split himself into two and houses the hollow part in Lillynette instead of a sword (someone correct me if I'm wrong on whether or not Starrk or Lillynette is the hollow part, I'm just assuming Lillynette because Starrk looks more refined). Also you guys were right that the scene with the big eye hollow thing was when Aizen was rescued out of Soul society.

hells paradise has a power system that doesn't go enough in depth, and season 1 looked like shit besides first 2 episodes, chainsaw man season 1 also lost a few points because of god awful cgi they used in some fights, but the movie was pretty peak. jjk is great. i never see people refer to these shows as the dark trio besides chronically online people

What are you talking about? Season 1 of hell's paradise looks great. I love its art style, it's themes and animation is solid. JJK's season 2 animation for me is unwatchable. Barely got through it and it almost made me not want to pick it up in season 3 again. I find JJK overhyped and the studio got away with cheaping out on the animation in s2 because of that. One frame man tried that too but it din't work out the way it did with jjk. I guess jjk fan boys are just not connected to reality

It wasn't about how it sounded, everyone thought the Chinese dub was way too hard to follow due to the speed of the subtitles and the episodes pacing themselves. It's hard to understand and like something when you can't even follow the plot due to other issues.

My favorite show has concluded after 22 years, I have been a fan since 2007 or so whenever the dub was coming out weekly in like 4th grade. Forever grateful to Mr. Kubo but also to reaction channels that keep it real and have an appreciation for the series and try to understand / predict what is happening or will next. Shoutout to you fellas and enjoy the rest of peak, the last arc episodes 342-366 are some of my favorite in the entire series

When i wanna talk about something currently but i dont wanna give spoilers i act like i only watched up to x episode. I know its weird. I remember when i saw this scene i thought.... Why would he not use it? Is it hard to control? Is it something he doesnt like to show, like other characters? Is it very big and it would hurt his comrades? I was trying to guess what could be the reason for ukitake saying people shouldn't see it. I would think, is it "ugly" or vile? And so i write what i felt on × moment or x scene. Sure, there can be anime/manga that surpass the popularity of them but those three have already popularized the medium all over the world. everybody has already been exposed to anime, its kinda hard for there to be new group to do the same
