Hi, Norwegian viewer here. Norse people is not a thing anymore, thats what vikings were. now we are Scandinavians like Brig said :D

anna

Northern Europe is not equal to Scandinavia. The latter consists of Denmark, Sweden and Norway (maybe Iceland too?), Finnish people are a different group – their language is not even Indo-european. A lot of people tend to mix them up so it's all good, I did too for a while that's why i'm saying:))

Mia Malvik

Norway not being a big part of this show is probably mostly because Denmark was a more politically organised country at the time of these events (after year 1000) and they were more connected to this story in particular. Norwegian vikings were fewer, but more savage and didn't have big armies like Denmark. Archaeological evidence show that they were the ones who used axes in battle for example, and they were great boat builders and sailors.(They discovered iceland.) The Swedish vikings are also barely mentioned here because they were more active in the east, towards Russia and stuff. They're mostly known for trading. Finland had no vikings

Mia Malvik

Scandinavia: Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The Nordics (old term is Norse): Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland. Finland and Iceland are not Scandinavians, but they're Nordic

James

Season 2 of Vinland Saga starts off at a slow pace, but it's rich with character-development (along with symbolism - the setting), and roller-coaster of emotions. At some point, there's a "Oh, wtf??" moment that catches you a little off-guard, and the pace starts picking up where we can literally feel the tension building up for what's coming.

Mia Malvik

31:51, Carter did you say my name or am I absolutely tripping

sant, han mente vel at de som ble kalt norse tilbake da er i dag de fra Norge, Sverige, Danmark og Island. Vi er jo det samme folket, bare med nye navn på en måte. Hei forresten! Koselig med flere nordmenn her hahah

Anton Sakshaug

Hei ja!😁 Ja det var sikkert det han mente. Ja veldig trivelig, gøy å se anime me disse gutta😎

Astro Sherlock

Vikings = Nordic raiders. Its simply another term for a specific type of pirates/raiders, and they'll fight for the highest bidder and if there's a chance of winning.

Astro Sherlock

Also Assassins Creed Valhalla is probably the worst Assassins Creed in terms of historical authenticity.

Astro Sherlock

The Danish Vikings raids and the fierce conflict that happened in real life which the show reflects were almost entirely in England (Not Scotland or Wales or Ireland) not in any of Europe, just the region of England in the British Isles.

Izaya

Cannon is right, there are two Haralds. Harald is a common name here. Harald King of Norway is most liekely dead. Its been way too much time

Scandinavia is Sweden, Norway, Denmark. Nordics is Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, and autonomous territories/regions related to those (Greenland, Faroe Islands, Åland). Scandinavian Peninsula is Sweden, Norway, part of northern Finland. Fennoscandia is the Scandinavian Peninsula, the Kola Peninsula, mainland Finland, and Karelia (part of Russia). Baltoscandia is the Nordic countries and Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). The three main language branches in Baltoscandia are Baltic (Latvia, Lithuania), Finnic (Finland, Estonia) and North Germanic (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland).

I'm currently on sn 2. Up to date with the latest episode. Has the wtf moment happened yet or is it almost about to happen?

anna
>>106935248

Yes, i obviously meant just Scandinavia consisting of 3 countries and nations, i didn't take into account the geographical aspect of it. But thank you for your insight! Finnic is a language branch of the Uralic family. Hence, not Indo–european.
