kosmos99

DarlingDiamantes

HunterXHunter 1999 version 2nd opening imo top 5 favorite anime openings ever. Some y’all should check out in the future

bondbond53

HunterxHunter is infamous for having very long hiatuses between chapters from a certain point in the early 2000's (before that it was somewhat consistently scheduled, it began publishing in 1998). Here is a chart that shows the hiatuses https://www.otaquest.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/firefox_LKRiV5qlPt-1024x820.png. This is due to the health issues of its creator Yoshihiro Togashi, specifically his back problems. He even mentioned it's hard for him to draw for prolonged periods of time. Now you might think that the hiatuses are excessive but you need to understand that the grind for manga creators is brutal what with extreme crunch time where they have to deliver weekly. People used to meme about it being HiatusxHiatus but after Berserk's creator Kentauro Miura died recently because of health issues people began to take these things more seriously. Now the manga is ongoing but the 2011 anime provides a pretty good ending point. Togashi himself has stated that the story somewhat ends where the anime ends but that he wanted to expand further on the story. Also, some character arcs are still unfinished so the continuation of the manga is very much needed. People say the manga will never finish because we get few chapters every few years and because Togashi's writing is very detailed and meticulous but hey that's what makes this series so goated. Last year unexpectedly Togashi made a Twitter account and tweeted a picture of a tree he painted, signalling the continuation of the manga. You have to understand that at this point the manga had been on hiatus since 2018 and people really actually gave up on it ever finishing. The tweet quickly garnered 1 million likes(!) and was trending for days. People actually couldn't believe it. This shows the impact of his work and how much everyone loves it. We got 10 more chapter with some of the most impactful story beats. As for now, Togashi is working with his editors to create a schedule to better fit him so that he can continue the story but due to his health it's still unclear. All we can wish is for Togashi's health to improve so honestly the manga can wait. What is important is his health.

didn't think it would happen so soon 😭 it's much faster pace than I remember

Mansxlook _05

Cannon went from the dent on his head to literally spikes

CHIEF

That's so funny you called the prison The Box from Clone Wars, that's exactly how my friend described it when I started watching the show

Matthew Valentine

Everyone else falling through the hidden doors so gracefully and then leorio landing on his face gets me every time.

Philbo

Togashi (the Manga Author) has been having really bad Health issues for years now, to the point where he can hardly write and continue the manga, so the moments he can he does a good little chunk then goes on a really long hiatus. his wife is the author for Sailor moon (which is a classic anime) im thinking if he ever gets to a point to where he cant write or anything then he will let his wife finish it but we will see. its really sad Tbh.

Poragami

i absolutely feel like cannon, can't wait for the next episodes lmao

Patrick Ramos
>>115091645

What a great explanation. Lets hope he gets better so we can see the continuation of one of the best stories of all time

ssj4rit
>>115091645

I think the hiatus is primarily due to his back problem of course, but also the fact HxH’s story is super complex. I don’t think he can write the current arc week to week. At a certain point HxH became super complicated for a shounen, makes sense he needs time to think it all through. The Succession War of HxH for example is the literal equivalent of a Game of Thrones in anime, so many factions and people vying for the throne, while a ton of subplots go on.

BipolarKitten

I started watch hxh after u guys announced hxh win the poll. Currently at episode 23. Really love it❤️❤️

Lily

So happy to see Cannon is already hyped, coz so did I when I saw it the first time at this point! Hunter x Hunter is so unpredictable, and this show only gets more creative and creative. I always love seeing those genius writers thinking/creativity through manga and anime, especially Togashi and Isayama（AOT）.

aubrey !!
>>115091645

Really glad people are actually realising hes a real human and that his health should be his top priority.

Izaya

Yo, i like the sound of 6 episodes per week. We would finish the series in 6 months. Its a good time

kosmos99
>>115091001

oh yh i get that, its my 6th rewatch, its completely irrational for me to get kinda irked but gons my bby lmao cant help it

esie ♡︎

This is gonna be a long but fun journey 🤭

Shiro

To put it simply, the anime ends at a very good point, however the manga takes the story further beyond episode 148. So even if you just watch the 148 episodes, that is a very good ending point. As someone already mentioned, since the manga has undergone hiatus many times, we fear that the story (beyond the anime) may never finish! The current arc in the manga is so complex that is going to take a while to finish.

kiiturii

imagine this would be 75% through chainsawman already lmao

Joie Dianzon

I couldn’t tell if Carter is frustrated or what. Cannon is just amused. Just plow through it, I am rewatching this with you. It’s going to be a looooong journey. ❤️

Max__
>>115090340

I disagree. 99 is better in the Hunter Exam arc and in the York New Arc for me

Joie Dianzon
>>115099904

I tried comparing it to the other anime in the poll. In Haikyuu, they would have met one of the strongest rival players already. In FMAB, they would have been traumatized and met one of the cause of depression already. 😂😂😂

BrianTheWoeful

6 episodes a week is too good. I get so hyped up with these releases

BrianTheWoeful
>>115091645

Togashi got like 3 million twitter followers in under a year. Absolute legend. I really hope he's able to rest well

BrianTheWoeful
>>115091645

The anime does provide a pretty decent ending but it doesn't resolve a lot of arcs and it doesn't delve deep into the lore of the world and why there are creatures and weird races everywhere. The manga is just getting there, but it may be an unfortunate case where we'll never see the full scope of the narrative through unless he hands it down to his wife.

Izaya

Mckay took that informaiton about the anime off his ass honestly. There is nothing about a new season of HxH coming. They do have some content on the source material to adapt some 25 episodes or so though. And regarding the manga, The author has a permanent injury on his back that prevents him from writing it. The manga came back a few months ago after a 5 year hiatus but it wen on hiatus again after 5 chapters. Jump was considering canceling the series. Thats why we say its never gonna end. At this rate the author is literally gonna die before finishing it. And the story is nowhere near a possible excuse of an ending. Like, even if he rushes he cant finish the story in the next 100 chapters. He would need more to tie all the plots and stuff.

nans

gon is such a lovable character his wholesomeness is overwhelming 😭 you can’t help but smile when he gets excited about everything

rdot

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but ep 13 is kind of just a recap episode so it can be skipped. You can watch maybe the first 2mins and last 1 minute for context but otherwise there are no new scenes

ssj4rit
>>115101498

3 year hiatus. He wrote 20 chapters in 2018 then came back towards the end of 2022, then went on hiatus after 10 chapters (391-400). You can be a bit nicer calling people out, it’s hard getting facts straight sometimes (in your case too).

nans
>>115101498

ssj4rit is right 🥴 there’s no need to be harsh (especially with innacurate info). we can all just hope togashi can finish it at his own pace, whenever that will be! If the anime continues one day that would be a blessing

Philbo
>>115091645

this is why i love the HxH community like even though everyone wants the story to continue, we are all wanting him to focus on getting better lol

rosa_gris

I feel like there are two types of HxH fans: those who were hooked from Episode 1 and those who were hooked from the next major arc. As other comments have mentioned, the manga is notorious for being on hiatus (Hiatus x Hiatus 😭). To put things in perspective, One Piece was serialised in July 1997 and HxH in March 1998 — less than a year apart. At the time, One piece had 29 more chapters than HxH. Now, there is a 690 difference. Because the story was written between breaks and over a long period of time, you will notice major tonal shifts as the story progresses. A lot of people say that the genre changes with each arc.

ssj4rit
>>115107344

The tonal shifts are intentional though, HxH arcs switched type alot even when the series was weekly lol.

rosa_gris
>>115107344

Not saying that they weren’t; I believe it was 100% intentional. What I meant was that (I believe) Togashi had very different inspirations for each arc as he was writing them at different points in his life (over a 25 year period now). I think the story would have been different (i.e. tone, themes etc.) if he had been continuously writing the story.

ssj4rit
>>115107344

True. I have a feeling the latest arc is inspired by GoT. Thanks for pointing that out lol, it’s true over time the influences change and new things crop up.

Sigh Berian

I've only watched 55 Episodes and HxH already better than AOT. Also, Tonpa is my fav from this arc. Don't really see his character in any other anime or show.

Mattchu
>>115109590

Dang dawg hxh is good but I don’t think it compares to the pacing of aot, I respect ur pov though I’m glad people enjoy it so much it can be overlooked. To be fair aot took a lot of time off after the 1st season to get everything right so it’s not exactly a fair comparison

Sigh Berian
>>115109590

Pace is less of a problem for me compared to other things like having hope/comedy to balance out the tragedy in stories. I mean, One Piece is one of my fav anime of all time. AOT is a depressing anime with some hope/comedy early on but over the seasons killed it off, in some cases literally, thanks Gabi! A really good story needs a balance between hope/comedy and tragedy. Even Game of Thrones, known for its brutality, balances it out with Tyrion's character.

Q3rf Neym

Skip episode 13 btw. It's pretty much just filler. If you continue with batches of 3, just start with 14, 15 & 16 next week.

Airex

these are the episodes that are "kinda bad" for me atleast, but when they finish the hunter exam is when the real fun begins trust me

Q3rf Neym
>>115109590

Both are equal to me imo though HxH has weaker moments (even at its worst it's not close to bad) like greed island, the highs are just as good as AoT's highs. Absolute peak.

Michael Corleone

HxH and Mushoku Tensei (they're not ready for this.... probably never will be) are probably the 2 most unpredictable series I've watched (in Mushoku Tensei's case I've also read it.)

Sigh Berian
>>115109590

first half of AOT season 3 made me drop it for a year or two, and after Gabi killed you know who beginning of season 4, I dropped AOT altogether. So far HxH didn't have any noticeable low for me. AOT does have some incredibly hype moments tho.

rosa_gris
>>115107344

Algood, I wasn’t very clear in my original comment. I haven’t been keeping up with the latest arc but I can totally see that. Hoping Togashi’s health gets better and he is able to complete this arc the way he envisioned.

Toff

lets go

bondbond53
>>115101498

Really rude way of correcting someone. Watch your tone even online. Bet you wouldn't phrase it this way irl.

Nazerke K

Love your reactions so far🤩 Manga is not finished yet, because the mangaka has a health problem…

Vernus
>>115111094

They could like it if they can get past the slightly weird implications of a 30 year old starting over life in a infants body. It’s one of the most unique shows I have ever seen as far as isekai go

Kim555

I'm kinda curious on what's coming next since we finished chainsaw and vs

Cookie

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Cookie
>>115230479

I hope they watch a movie before starting another one 🙏

nans
>>115230479

For now it will be (every weekend) 6 eps of HxH, 2 eps of Avatar the Last Airbender (I think?), and then Jujutsu Kaisen weekly episodes when it comes back August 31! Also Vinland is currently being posted on YouTube since we are a bit ahead of patreon :)

Pressure

I feel maybe Killua is a little misunderstood his family kills people and he is very aware of it and even stabbed his own mother and brother so I think killing isn't really him being evil as much as a regular part of his life that he is desensitized too.

Frizen
>>115111094

I don't think you've been watching the show if you think a man starting over as an infant is where the problem is. Oshi no Ko has the same thing and no one has a problem recommending that show. There's a very significant key difference between main characters.

Linn
>>115091645

I think I heard somewhere (after they talked about it being rescheduled) that it was instead canceled complete but I’m not sure. I think they talked about it in Trash Taste.

Ryan C

blue guys voice actor is literally a op character…s voice actor. every time i here his laugh i think of franky

Airex

when the next one dropping its been 3 days im tired of waiting bless my eyes with the next episode FAST please 🙏🙏

Takari

I'm watching this show for the first time with you guys and Leorio is my fav so far :D

Airex
>>115332534

bruh at this rate they gonna need like 3 month to finish it omll

asdfg
>>115332534

just be grateful they're not posting at lm reactions pace😂 those two are only on ep 56 six months later

leah

the reason the manga probably won't be finished in our lifetime is because the author has some illnesses. after the final ep of season 6 aired, the entire series went on hiatus for years because of his illness and didn't start back up again until recently (within the last year i think). idk what the actual illness or whatever is but i know it's really serious so unfortunately the manga will probably go unfinished.

leah
>>115109590

W abt hxh being better than aot i agree but huge L abt tonpa lmao

leah

also just so you know which im sure brig and mckay already do, episodes 13 and 26 are recap episodes lol no new content at all in those episodes. it recaps like every single thing so i'd def skip those unless you guys feel like you need em but you probably wont

Daisy
>>115405813

I follow the author, Togashi on Twitter & he said he’s already done with 10 more chapters which would equate to half a season. Just be patient :)

LuvStarburst

the old man is in charge of all the hunters

ssj4rit
>>115405813

You’re probably following a scam account. His last tweet was in May 2022 (https://twitter.com/Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp). Back then he was writing 10 chapters and those were indeed published already. Since then there has been no update on more chapters. A lot of people masquerade as mangaka on Twitter, I’d be wary who to believe.

Pavlo

Yooo they finally watched Timothee chalamet fight gon🔥🔥🔥
