I am once again posting about the HTMAG summer sale (Patreon)
Content
Thanks to everyone who has already used my affiliate links to get anything from the How To Market a Game summer sale! I hope you get a lot of value out of the course. It was great to speak to Chris last week and especially cool to hear his views on game design, genre, and how he constantly update what he does for Steam, even bringing in designers from specific genres to help fill knowledge gaps.
I've had one or two of you get in contact to ask me why I'm doing games marketing content when that's "not what you watch me for". That is totally fair, you're here for design, not business! I would say; I have no dislike or distaste for marketing, I just tend to stick to my specialist areas rather than pretending to know things just because it's what gets clicks from noobs [the biggest audience]. I'll always talk to specialists in other subfields it it provides value for the channel and produces an interesting conversation. It's very, very rare for me to use a "bait" title or thumbnail which doesn't accurately describe what's in a video (outside of for comedic effect) so if you think something's not going to be for you, please don't feel like you're failing to support the channel by skipping a video. In fact its probably better for the YT algorithm if people just stick to watching what they really want to watch rather than forcing themselves.
Generally, though, the remit of this channel is quite flexible. I want to help indie devs make better games, using what I know - which has its limits. I also just want to be someone you enjoy watching. I've also always been a performer - probably more-so than an educator. I'm hoping that this channel will be successful enough that one day, when I tired of you foolish games, you'll follow me to some new hyperfixation (Indie Taxidermy Clinic, anyone?)
In the meantime, I just want to say I appreciate everyone who helps to support this channel through memberships, both here and on Patreon, hanging out and chatting in streams, and more recently by clicking on those affiliate links.

I appreciate that courses and not for everyone; both in terms of cost and even learning styles. They're also not really necessary until your game is at a point where you know its ready for market [and boy, do I see a lot of developers begging for wishlists on a game that needed to stay in the oven a lot longer!] But this one is the most highly recommended of its type in the industry, currently (according to developers much wiser than myself) and if 1% of the viewer-based of this channel bought something on there, it would be life-changing for me. To put it all in context; the channel (AdSense + Patreon) currently only make around 50% of what would be required to pay myself UK minimum wage, so opportunities like this are very helpful to keep it going. Hope you all have a wicked weekend! - Joe
