Hello members,Here's the early access version of the video on Gestalt and Affordance Theory. These are two approaches to cognitive design for visual media. It's a lighter, goofier take on the book chapter on visual design, although it misses out Semiotics because including that made the video too long and dense!

Solid topics. It's good to point out that even folks without lots of art skills can at the very least organize the hierarchy of elements. One craving I came away with was comparing even more genres examples, with their broadly use of the theories when faced with an entire screen full of stuff! What their overall UX wants to present and how they follow hierarchy and affordance, though the health bar and resources are great micro examples. Tutorial sections may be a good future topic as they demand a lot of techniques re: attention, too. Clever live painting game and the use of video game posters was a great transition from graphic to video.

I listened to the vid on the first go, and it was already so well structured and clear! The visuals help, but you're not just talking over some slides here, good effort *double thumps up

I think this is a good prompt for me to make sure the things match up! People will always look for the pattern.

Exactly. "even folks without lots of art skills can at the very least organize the hierarchy of elements" is the most important takeaway here. Also, "caring about it in the first place" is half the battle.
