Challenge + Difficulty Slides & Notes (Patreon)

Hi folks.
This week we had a little webinar on the Discord where I ran through some thoughts I'd been putting together about challenge and difficulty. Attached are the slides, for anyone in 🟢 tier and up.Normally I'd put this stuff in the "behind the scenes archive" for 🟠 and 🟣 tier supporters. The BTS archive is for drafts of things which I'm not sure about yet - drafts from my book, early drafts of video scripts, and older videos I've taken down from the channel. When it comes to the drafts and rough ideas, it makes sense to reserve those for the higher tiers because they're the sort of thing which might be confusing or misleading if stumbled across and used as an "education resource" rather than taken for what they are (the raving scribbles of a demented wizard who doesn't get enough sunlight). But this time I'm making it available to all members, partly to say thanks to everyone who attended the webinar, chatted and gave some feedback. I think the actual video essay will vary considerably from what was discussed. I want to focus on a model where "challenge" is qualitative and "difficulty" is quantitative, and build everything out from there. There's just so much to cover under this topic, and as always I want to focus on the stuff which is actually helpful for people who are in the most common stages of development [hence taking the emphasis off of 'balancing' and difficulty sliders]. In the video I will probably also put more of an emphasis on using "imagine this" type examples like the thing with the different types of parties of goblins.
