Content warning: Whale carcasses and bones, deep ocean.Hiya everyone!

I don't tend to make polls, especially for voting on map ideas because I have flaky, chaotic ADHD mind and change it constantly, but I'm gonna try something here...

I've sketched up 5 layouts for a map I want to do that is inspired by whale fall, and also how Sperm whales sleep. If you don't know what whale fall is, it is a phenomenon where when a whale dies, its carcass 'falls' to the see floor, typically at 1000m or more, and greats a localized ecosystem that sustains the various creatures for months, or even decades apparently!

It's really creepy but absolutely fascinating, which is how I like my vibes best. Absolutely worth reading about if you want to know more. I'm going to work in this idea into a mass whale fall/grave rather than a singular whale carcass to give it some extra creepy factor.

The second inspiration is how Sperm whales sleep, which again is creepy and fascinating. They sleep vertically under the water, looking like whale pillars just floating there in the depths.

I'm going to use this as a basis for statues that surround the whale fall, making the whole place some sort of temple/site of worship to whales (or a whale god?) for whatever reason.

So, the poll and layouts; as I mentioned I have a flaky mind so I will be using whatever layout wins as a basis for this overall idea, because of the creative process works I will inevitably improve/replace/overhaul ideas, so anything I end up with won't be a 1 to 1 of the layout, but I'll stick to the overall idea as much as I can.

I also voted for #3 because it seems the most dynamic, but I really like the more obvious whale-columns of #1. And of course, #🙂, because everything needs more googly eyes.

I chose 3, but is it also underwater? Are those sunken bridges or just underwater bridges to swim over?

3 appeals to me for a couple of reasons: I like seeing a hard-horizontal element shaking up the verticality and symmetry, and it seems to have the potential for broader uses than the other layouts. Also, it's just super-cool to see the ideas you noodle with. Thanks for sharing!
