A ton of people have been bringing the u-haul developments to my attention regarding the BRICKS-AND-MINIFIGS lego story, and I wanted to share a couple things:

Yes I saw this and followed up.

My behind-the-scenes process with these kinds of leads.

The TL;DR is this.

People discovered that the company who rents U-HAULs keep internal records of when trucks are checked-in, and in the case of Brandon Best, internal records showed a U-HAUL check-in time of 6:12 AM on November 15, 2023.

This is several hours different from the original photo that Brandon Best provided showing a photo dropping off the truck at 12:41 AM-- and some theorized that this could explain where some of the missing lego ultimately were: transported to the Eugene store covertly and sold.

This would be, if true, an explosive finding, and I quitely followed up on this, talked to a GM at U-HAUL, and...!?

It seems that this is just a quirk in the way U-HAUL records check-in times. Boring.

I didn't feel the need to address this publicly... there's not a lot to say. It was an interesting lead, but ultimately proved to be inconclusive. That said, given the intense public speculation on this case I felt like pulling the curtain back and sharing a bit of my reporting process.

More investigations soon!

Fell out of the loop since last week. Any updates?

Lizzie

I get the feeling that this isn’t going to satisfy the rapid followers of this case šŸ˜…

Brendan McNamara

Only somewhat related to the U-Haul, but have you looked into the comments Sheldon Norcross made regarding large bags of loose minifigs/pieces from the Mansell’s collection that weren’t in inventory system before the corporate takeover?

NoBlackThunder

funny theory .. what if there where 2 uhauls ? :P

SuperiorStagg

Thank you for BTS and for digging into this. It's good to see an update even if it doesn't lead to a dramatic conclusion. I think this is more satisfying than leaving it open to speculation.

Jesse Singh

Did they ever provide any information on the second uhaul? If there's another uhaul that was rented and returned in pertinent timeline, it makes their claim a bit plausible.

Chris Fulmer (Demose Aries)

The u-haul business never made sense to me... They had a rental truck to bring back the camper.. but not the same rental truck which they used to bring the camper down... Suddenly to bring the camper back the truck they already had didn't have a tow hitch at all so they "had to rent a U-haul" to bring it back...

judasdubois

Its a great example of why its important to check things before getting out the old jump to conclusions mat (you see its a mat YOU CAN JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS ON ).

There is alot to uncover with the bags of mini figures. Those minifigs in the bag seems unaccounted for and not in the inventory list. This could be possible $50,000 or more missing from price of all the lego.

Tyler

Was this not a case of you got an email about it after the video was released and you didnt confirm it, so everyone was just trying to make sure you got the info? It kind of sounds like you are more worried about people thinking you missed something rather than giving an update that its not evidence. People just wanted you to know about it. How is anyone supposed to know that you knew already? Also that easily modified timestamped photo isn't proof of anything but, in the video, you seemed to take it as that or am I remembering wrong? Not trying to hate, but I think were all just trying to help with justice here.

Madison Duckworth

What about the mini figs Sheldon was talking about

Priscilla

It could’ve been brought back at say 4am we just don’t know. Their U-Haul is BS I lived with a man that lied all the time and IMO this man I lying..too many variables in that story..lol

Priscilla

You need to look into the minifigs in the inventory. Minifigs are a lot of times more valuable than a whole set. They did not account for these.

austin johnson

Something you did miss was you claimed the legos he sold were apart of the original inventory and you took it away from the amount owed. This was wrong. Those seets were proven duplicates and were sold separately. So please update with accurate info.

As an IT person, this explanation doesn't make any sense. There's not really a technical reason for a 6:12 on one and 12:41 on the other. You could explain this with UTC time zone logging for the server or wherever one record was printed, but the variance of 31 minutes rules out any odd timezone quirks. I would discount a "time account quirk" as a reason here.

What the uhaul GM a Mormon? Just conscious they do things differently

Keith Ringer

Uh, what about whats come out today that the "backdoor" deal you mentioned in the video was irrelevant and the minifigs you never mentioned? I've loved you for a long time coffee, im giving you money but this is feeling more and more like you didnt do all the duediligence you should have... I hope you address all this more publically

Ada MC

I super appreciate you checking and letting us know. I know what not all leads that are checked can be reported on, especially if they don't pan out and while I trust your integrity, I love to see proper due diligence and that my trust is not misplaced.

Patrick

I have seen people on reddit dive into multiple aspects of this, with mileage, timezone difference and drop off fees. I don't remember the exact details, but there is more to this u-haul question for sure. It is more than fishy, coming from serial liars. Thanks for the update though! (Reddit points out the lego could have been stored in the camper aswell lol)

The U Haul receipt was such a clear nothingburger I have no idea why people insisted on fixating it. He's a regular customer and they did him a solid by not charging him for doing a drop-off instead of self check in on the app. I still have questions about why Brandon left the store so long after Chrystal given that he was apparently so tired and still had to drive to Eugene and back, you'd think he'd want to get on the road. We see her leaving at 8:06pm, we see the locksmith he was supposedly waiting on working on the door at around 8:34pm on that famous "U Haul photo". So maybe he has a few locks to re-key, doesn't take a good locksmith long to do that. Then Brandon leaves over an hour later, but we know he didn't do a decent inventory, that much is clear, so what exactly was he doing for all that time! But I don't think there can be any conclusive answers to that so there's nothing really to investigate. I think the only data point we're missing is what time he took down Chrystal's cameras but unless that's at like, 9:30pm that doesn't really give us anything. More of an unanswered question!

EvylFairy

Just curious why, in your opinion, if the GM says Brandon Best didn't do a self check in there was no $20 service fee for a staff check in on the receipt? Also why, if he didn't add any photos for the check in process, he had a pic to send you? The pics can't have been to give to BAM for work purposes or they would have known about the UHaul.

You have to do some sort of story on Legally Mine. This adds so many layers of irony to the story. Who fucked who, Amon or his father?

Jackalgirl

Has anyone visited the Eugene store to see if any of the Star Wars LEGO sets that are currently on sale there have yellow stickers? (I mean, the McNeffs and Josh/Brandon would have to be really, ah, not-bright, to not realize that they'd need to remove those but these folks don't strike me as the brightest bulbs in the pack.) And I think it probably would only account for one hour, but was Brandon's time zone set to Pacific Time at the time that he took the photo proving the drop-off time?

Mike Gervasi

Thank you for giving us fair and balanced reporting, which always takes more work.

RK Studios

Meanwhile I'm still just trying to figure out why we're still ignoring that Joshua Johnson said, literally a dozen times on the phone with Ben, that he was in possession of the LEGOs.

James Doolittle

Cool update! Would love a similar bite sized follow up on pricing—there’s a claim that your valuation didn’t include many mini figs and that your number is only based on boxed sets. I don’t think people are really slandering you and your team with this claim, or anything like that, but it’d be cool to hear from you on that, too.

Miqogen_Protogen

You do a lot of fantastic work! Thank you for all you do :)

Adam Bialoszewski

Brilliant. Coffezilla make video about UK report of rapes. 250000+ kids raped, politicians, police, judges, social workers, schools, NHS took a part in rapes , cover ups, prosecution of victims and their families! You made videos about Epstein. This is much worse-please show integgity and make a video about report. You could even just react to Asmongold reading report-he promised and delivered. He spent hours with us-reading full report. šŸ’ŖšŸ™āœŒļøRegards from UK.

Melissa Lewis

I really think they took Mansell’s collection to Eugene somehow. Because they were swallowing up inventory from other stores re: last relic and sending it out to Eugene.

JM

When you spoke with BAM employee who said he was unloading the truck until late. Did he work past his shift/ did he get overtime pay?

Jacob Lapidus

What if your source just misremembered unloading Legos for 4 hours and it was really 2 hours? Then the timeline works fine.

Patricia Harvey

Coffee, you are the bomb and we adore you. Have you started looking into/heard about this whole Freecash data mining app? The word on the street is that head of support at Freecash used to be Global director of quality and compliance at TrustPilot. Check out Internet Anarchist latest video on YT. People are begging you take this case on.
