She was both informing Caitlyn of her relative beauty while also being kind about it. Caitlyn means 'being kind' as 'lying', which Mrs. Kiramman knows, but is using wordplay to pretend she isn't while also reframing her comments as being actually kind instead of 'spare your feelings' 'kind'.
