I was in need of some soup on Jan 20 so I made some stuffed pepper soup with sausage. The bulk of it is canned tomatoes. Seems like a perfect recipe for Mr P.

Sit n stitch

Random options for funsies: rice or rice noodles, ginger & snow peas. Dash of soy instead of some of the salt. OR add rotel tomatoes & some chili powder But you can’t go wrong with a solid basic chicken soup.

on vibes 24_7

That sounds bomb, what all is in it?

I'm just c&p the recipe from my notes app: •1 lb ground Italian sausage •1 diced onion •3 green peppers, cut up (diced, chunks, whatever you like) •5 cups beef broth (I use Better than Bouillon + water) •2 28oz cans diced tomatoes w/garlic, basil and oregano (don't drain) *Furmano's brand is my favorite •1 15oz can tomato sauce •2 tbsp brown sugar •1/4 cup (1 packet) taco seasoning •1 tsp (or to taste) salt •1 tsp (or to taste) ground black pepper •2 cups cooked rice •3-4 cloves (or 4 tsp) minced garlic -Brown the sausage with the onion. Drain off fat if necessary. -Put sausage in 7 qt pot and add in all of the remaining ingredients EXCEPT for the rice and garlic. -Gently simmer on med-low heat until peppers are soft. -Add in rice and garlic. -Continue simmering for a few more minutes. -Serve

Why have I never put dill on my chicken soup? I feel like I've just been wasting my life.

masterpieceormenace

i’m vegetarian and have never liked chicken noodle soup but i was still so excited you took my suggestion and listened immediately 😂😂

The Libberator

I listened to this while making sweet potato gnocchi. Not a food idiot, but I learned a lot! Thanks Mrs. P!

The Libberator

And speaking of Elon Musk’s racist grandpa, I think Afrikaner nationalism and the various apartheid acts in South Africa would be a very timely episode

holly!

I made a 60 minute soup this last Monday! It truly was a soup for the soul 😭

Mr.PearlsFootFungus

I’m two minutes in and I’m dying of laughter because I also was expecting a bumper during the moment of silence

Short_Range_Attack_Chicken

I’ve been told I make really good butternut squash soup and potato leek soup. (All by scratch of course) I’ve yet to make chicken noodle soup I think I’ll make some. Ohh one more thing you were missing is a nice loaf of crusty bread!! I can’t have soup without it! I’ve had some gluten free crusty bread that was delicious too.😋 The only thing canned soup is good for is carrying during a protest … You know “it’s soup for my family”… 😏

Husband_of_author_AJ_Alexander

I am in fact an idiot. Would it be possible for a typed out list of ingredients? That way when my dumb ass goes to the grocery store I get the right stuff.

-2lbs of chicken breasts and thighs with skin on and bone in -3 celery stalks -3 carrot sticks -2 white or yellow onions -3 garlic cloves -kosher salt -pepper -thyme -bay leaves -fresh parsley and/or dill -4 boxes of chicken broth -noodles of your choosing

Maggie Stough

I made the soup! It was very good! Hopefully by the time I finish the leftovers I will be cured of whatever bleh has ailed me this week

I think there's an assumption that whatever you cook HAS to come out "right" or "perfect", it's OKAY and normal to eat it and have a conversation about what you like and don't like and what you want to change/try for next time. It's one or two meals, it's not a big deal or failure, re-work it and try again. My mom and I used to casually critique our meal and discuss ideas for the next time. 🤷‍♀️ Growing up with that attitude made me unafraid to try new things or start over. Also...Chicken Noods Episode for my soul! PLEASE!

Oh man. Campbell's soup at hand was almost all I ate when I was deployed to Iraq. The dining hall was constantly getting mortared so I was like "all right, microwave soups for me for 18 months" 🤣

✨Sparkling Misandry✨

Mrs P: I sent you a veggie soup recipe IN THR SNAILY MAILY about the time you announced having a new PO Box. Did you ever get it? lol. Also, gf soup in a can always SUCKS, but I have fond memories of chicken and stars myself. So salty. 😆

When onions are cut, they release molecules into the air. These molecules are designed to find the closest water source (usually your eyes) and turn to sulfuric acid. Putting a VERY wet paper towel on your cutting board will help with onion tears!

Peach

Currently recovering from a combo of flu and Covid I need someone to make me this soup.

Zelda Presents

what about like.... a big bowl of water? or does it have to be a wet thing?

Zelda Presents

y'all. Mrs. P. whoever's giving Alex shade for eating canned soup. my husband doesn't even bother heating the soup. he just pops the top off and shoots it straight out the can like a jello shot. and if it's not a pop top and requires a can opener, he's not eating. i have never cooked so much in my life as i have since i met him 😂 (i also HATEEEEEEE cooking. i'm a go out to eat gal. but we poor so..... i cook now.... except i've been SUPER sick so, now we eat whatever we can afford 😩)

Stace Invader

A bowl never seems to work as well. Paper towel works best and then I just use it to wipe off the cutting board for the next thing I’m chopping.

Elizabeth Staples

So a lot of that is gonna be making broth. Just that one step of box broth takes it down to the hour. If you use bullion you can cut it to half an hour but you are getting closer to can soup.

on vibes 24_7

Like a Jell-O shot made me physically recoil 😂

Janinemania500

I don't know if anyone has done this but I'm a lazy girl and I love making chicken soup and using leftover rotisserie chicken. Life hack for the lazy lol

AugieLovesPenny

Enough carrots for a horse snack. Man, Americans really will use anything but the metric system.

Uncontrollable_airhorn_kare_bear

Omg thanks so much for breaking down the temp and the tell signs of having it to high. Just recently switch from a gas stove to an electric. I hate not being able to control the heat properly

DamnYouVodka

Vegetarian here 🙋🏼‍♀️ all you really need to substitute in your recipe is to swap the chicken fat with about 4 tbsp of butter, add poultry seasoning, and either plant based chick’n or tofu 💃🏼

CheeseDizMilk

I lost every bit of control with the mommy and daddy comment. I was definitely laughing out loud hahahaha

ThisMagistraNeedsMagistraP2DoADisneyHerculesReviewEpisode!

My dad does this with tomato soup except instead of taking it like a Jell-O shot, he plops it into a bowl, crumbles an entire sleeve of saltines in it, and then eats it like room temperature slop… I question my parentage when he does this 🤣

Janinemania500

Rotisserie chicken is the answer to everything. 💅🏻

Zelda Presents

oh god get well soon ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Arlo the Average

Could I (scared of raw meat) just cut up a rotisserie chicken from the store and just skip the initial chicken cooking step?

Kate The Great

It would be great patreon content to then film the Food Idiot trying to follow Mrs. P's recipes!

AugieLovesPenny

My favorite way to shred chicken is to pull out those bones, yank that skin, get all the meat in a deep mixing bowl and get my hand mixer after it. Shredded chicken in seconds.

Elfishparsley

8 cups!!! The boxes can be different sizes

Anne N

For vegetarian I would sub in some mushrooms so that you still get some umami!

Anne N

We need a Martha Stewart lore episode

_mad_4_u_

if you chew gum while chopping onions your eyes wont water as bad if at all

Jennifer

Great episode! I was chopping and prepping chicken fajitas while listening. Now I want soup!

Sleep-Deprived

Only thing I do differently is blend up half the veggies (after sauteeing) and add to my broth - hidden veggies for those that pick them out. Thanks for the recipe - making some now as Flu A has infiltrated & infected the household.

Rebekah Shim

Thank you so much! You’re a total Chad haha

Paige Morgan

Listening to this in April, after having a full meltdown because of *everything* and this reminds me of when I dated a chef and he taught me to make superior soups

review_of_academic_reviews

Hi I made this yesterday bc I’m recovering from Covid which really sucks bc I can’t smell NOTHING. Made my own stock and it’s incredibly yummy I am once again asking though are they write ups of these somewhere that I can’t find or do we really just be having the video to cook with lol

Budget Betty White

This recipe is probably my favorite. It has come in handy sooooo many times. Also I would LOVE to have the full recipe with the bones.
