One of Us Knows by Alyssa Cole is this month's book club episode! Strap in for a rip roaring ride into the Hudson river for an island wide Goblin Hunt with a multiple personality main character that has more blackout trauma than a tiktok comment section about narcissistic parents.

This book has it all, goblin hunts, lesbian castle dungeons, mind palaces, 4 Ds, and a plot that Alex actually couldn't guess for once. Oh, and the Pearlman's recorded all of this in their brand new studio. So get all of your identities together and a big bowl of popcorn ready to enjoy this month's MRS P'S BOOK CLUB!

seeing mrs p hands like that reminds me of the spongebob episode where everyone cheers at spongebob’s hands but not squidward 😭

Anne N

I had so much fun reading this one in anticipation. This episode will be so good!!!!

Lauren Jane

I have been dying to hear you present this one! Another fantastic book club episode. Loved it. Fifteen out of five. Also, my husband left for a work trip today and I totally packed a snack bag in his carry-on. It's necessary.

Danielle

Did we hear the producer giggle at Mr. P's "I'm Just Ken" joke? 🤭

MatchaParty

GREAT book. Love all two I mean 3 😏 of you.

Case Ravel

I have this and largely avoid related content, but listened anyways because I trust yall. Having a great time! (AMA!)

MatchaParty

I love the last 3 seconds ngl. Make it a bit long term.

Kristen Cocciante

I’m so excited for u and ur patio goose, please post pics of the outfits 🙏

Buffy Like Beer

It’s going to become one of those, “Dad was the only one that didn’t want the dog,” posts.

Peach

Watching this on the YouTube and the way Mrs. P talks with her hands makes me feel seen!!!! 🤣

Redacted for Fun

Excellent episode, really respectful commentary re the personality disorder. Generally I trust you all, but less mainstream mental health conditions can easily get kind of made fun of. Love the love you showed this book! It seems like it was partially Piranesi / Shutter Island / Memento. If you are looking for something a little like this, I recommend Piranesi by Susanna Clark. And I'm still on my one-woman campaign for Hunger Pangs by Joy Demorra, of course.

Kayla_from_delaware

I loved reading this before the ep. And then hearing Mr p have the same reactions as me is 🤌🤌🤌 good soup

holly!

Looked at the YouTube just to see the book light — and I have the same one! So excited for the rest of the ep :’)

snelly

i agree with the liberal boat people thing!!! love boating in the lakes in michigan :)

Nikki Ann

Best book club book hands down.

on vibes 24_7

The line delivery on “Read a BOOK” is absolutely killing me 😂

Taydawspi

PLEASE do a changing of the goose

maxton

Sometime towards the middle of the story, it started getting harder for me to follow along and understand what was going on, but I enjoyed listening nonetheless lol

Arlo the Average

This whole episode was great except for the part where Mr P besmirched the name of the late Jimmy Buffet

_Eternally_Possum_

Okay but hear me out, keep the goose in the studio? On camera with Alex?

Rockstache

What the heck is a patio goose anyway?

Helissa Lazet

I was supposed to read this book for a book club and skipped it but after this episode I’m gonna add it to my list when I’m in the mood for a thriller

Demolition Dormouse

OK but listen…Rapunzel is the only part of Ken’s system that knows about their past. Lottie was a ghost that was an external presence that only joined the system at the end. So technically, Only ONE of US Knows. And Mrs. P you should check out Cole’s first thriller, When No One is Watching, which is a Brooklyn gentrification murder mystery. Her romances are great, too.

Demolition Dormouse

Also reminded me of the movie Ready or Not, about a young woman who marries into an extremely wealthy family who want to sacrifice her to the Devil.

TitanOlaf

The initial description made me think of the phrase “The Furry Mask of the Red Death”

Lovexash

Lol the last couple seconds audio is cute ‘Cut’….. ‘Shhhebdewa’

GinaBoBina

Please post the first outfit you buy for the patio goose! 🤣

MandiCakes

Edinburgh has become a fave travel spot for me and my sister. The “discomfort” on their faces when the guides need to point out JK’s “residence” while completing the final book 😬 😂

MandiCakes

We were victim to a Jimmy Buffett rental car preference once. 😂 Frustrating and hilarious 🤣

MandiCakes

Yes, fun read! Love “The Menu” connection (great movie!) Hadn’t realized that before but yes!

Coco Boomslang

I done been influenced......I bought the book light 🤣

Coco Boomslang

Its a ceramic or plastic goose that one puts out on their patio or porch. There is a whole industry around making little outfits to dress them up on for various seasons and holidays.

TitanOlaf

HP Lovecraft also didn’t trust New England Boat People 🤣

Sly Cooper

We really need the lore for why Mrs P hates Adam Sandler. Or I need the episode # again

WintrStonr

Well I’ve got to say, I haven’t listened to a book club before, they just aren’t super my cup of tea. But I decided to give this one a chance, and I’m so glad I did. Incredible story time without needing the attention span to read a whole book lmao

HELL YES PORCH GOOSE! I’ve been trying to find one at a thrift store for a while. There was a large one in my neighborhood growing up and It was adorable. I recently saw one with pasties & fishnets on, and was like “ wow I need this.” Also, what happened to the original book club theme song ? I was listening to some of the old book club episodes again and forgot there was a His Name Was Dusk book club song.

President of the Fishbein Fan Club

I grew up near the Hudson River and in fairness to the captain, I would NOT try to cross it in a storm. And HELL YEAH PATIO GOOSE!!! 🪿

President of the Fishbein Fan Club

Look up Bannerman Castle in the Hudson. Super cool place (but no Wi-Fi or electricity). I went to see Dracula there last summer and we were taken there by A BOAT CAPTAIN NAMED JOHN. I’m glad I didn’t read this book before then because I would have absolutely NOT gotten on that boat.

TitanOlaf

I wanna know when we’re gonna start seeing goose content 🤣

TwoHats

Easily makes the joke 10-15% funnier when you know they caught the producer of guard. It's a fun little bonus.

TwoHats

10/10 episode, 12/10 for Patio Goose

Exhausted_Millenial

I need to read this book myself. I've always been fascinated by DID. What the brain does is fascinating.

Exhausted_Millenial

I never heard of this before now too. I thought she was getting an actual goose.

Jessipoot

I’m getting a patio goose so I can make ms p and I matching outfits for our patio geese

Craylee

Disclaimer, I haven't finished the episode yet (so good) so I don't know if it's addressed but multiple personality disorder is no longer what it's called. It's dissociative identity disorder because it's under the umbrella of dissociative disorders and it's related to identity, not personality. (There is a distinction between identity & personality in psychology, especially with personality disorders which DID isn't.)

Craylee

Also the identities are called alters (like alternatives) and not personalities. Just more info, not corrections or anything!

PATIO GOOSE

Nixie

Adding this to my TBR 🙌🏻
