I saw the Minecraft movie with my three kids in 3D during the opening weekend, and honestly, it was very cute. I've never played Minecraft, but they love talking about it. I was very surprised at how many adults (before I saw the movie) complained about kid things. I've never seen a kid movie in the theaters that wasn't hooting and hollering. Kids love talking during a movie, and it's a kid's movie. Yes, I understand that older people play it and have had it for a while, but my kids, who are 13 and under, are the target audience for this movie. Most kids there only know who Jack Black is because of the Kung Fu Panda stuff.

I normally love your content but I feel like you're losing what makes this podcast special. I feel like there's more ad libbed ranting and less lore. Politics has inundated most of our lives and my favorite episodes are the ones where Mrs. P does a deep dive on some forgotten and unhinged part of history. I'm worried that this new producer is pushing you to take inspiration from other podcasts and you're losing your sparkle. Your political takes are my favorite short form content. Your YouTube tier lists are unhinged and excellent. I just fear Mrs. P is starting to take a backseat on the podcast and she is my favorite part of the podcast. I want this husband and wife duo. Not a superhero and a sidekick. If I'm wrong and it's just Mrs. P is busy and can't lead an episode recently I apologize. Also "men who hate women" by Laura Bates. For anyone interested in learning more about incels.

That's great to hear! I just had fears that your podcast would become too much like more mainstream podcasts with the addition of the producer. My wife and I love your episodes so much and also the Alex led episodes (Tycho Brahe and the Emporer of the USA being personal faves) are also great. When a producer is involved we were just scared that capitalism would do it's thing.

I’m Wv born and raised. CLEAN COAL DOESNT EXIST. But unfortunately our education hasn’t equipped an entire generation with being able to do anything else, so eliminating mining is a direct attack on those people. My point, this state consistently votes against its best interest, but I thinks it’s genuinely out of fear that the changes will leave them behind w nothing.

I work in a coal mine. I'm one of two people here who don't constantly worship Trump. The other guy is Mexican. We have to talk in secret because we fear retribution. He fears deportation. The whole thing about "masculine" jobs and romanticizing the old ways is definitely real. They thought that voting for this clown would make us all rich. We're four months in, the coal value has plummeted. My bonus has been cut in half as a result. I'm buying $4.99 Costco rotisserie chickens and using them to make several meals. Where does the mine equipment mostly come from? China. All our shit comes from China. Our equipment that used to cost around $500,000 now costs over $1million. When Biden got elected, coal was over $400 per ton. I was able to get a lot of work. I made enough money to buy a house for the first time in my life. Now coal is around $100. We aren't hiring new people when people quit, we're just spreading out the workload. We're having to reuse old equipment. I'm having to do Doordash to make my mortgage payments. Canada has the same giant coal seams we have, just a little further north. They're probably going to fill all the orders we can't. But, if I get laid off, maybe I can work three manufacturing jobs at $14 an hour to make up for it.

I live in Michigan… based on what happened with the auto industry-centric areas here, they aren’t wrong: their life *will* change, such that life as they knew it won’t be possible. They can still have a life, of course, but it won’t be the same. And it’ll happen regardless. Mines eventually close: look at Colorado, Utah, Michigan, hell regions of Pennsylvania and West Virginia themselves. Natural resources are finite. I think part of it is that it’s been so long that folks forget that we as a species have known for millennia that migration is part of survival. BUT IT BLOWS. Not many *want* to uproot generations of life and shift lives. But for some regions, the last migration was so long ago no one remembers the suck. But add in some good ole fear and socially conservative NIMBYism you get stagnant people voting against a future for the promise of the past

Well said. Not to make blanket statements, but appalachians are pretty averse to change in really any way. “Why can’t it be like it was and JUST PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS WE ARE FINE” except we aren’t, we’re bleeding and the people with the programs to help out the underprivileged areas in not just WV, but KY, TN, NC and parts of PA can’t get power in those places bc the people won’t let them. On one hand, I think there needs to be a democratic rebrand to get people more willing.

I work in a coal mine. "Clean coal" is like low tar cigarettes. There's cleanER coal, but it's still pretty dirty. What's more, when coal was more regulated, the price of coal was up and I was able to get more work. Now, I can't get a day of overtime. Clown boy is not helping miners.

Nice episode, don't think you realize the full extent of your "talking to 20 year olds is like talking to 55 year old divorcees now" rant. It's not just with their feelings toward women, the next generation coming up is gonna be the most racist and misogynistic generation since goldens, maybe worse. This is all a vibe check of course, but I hang out with alot of them through my brother being 13 years younger and training new hires at machining with my new job. They are much worse than u could imagine. And it's not just the men, the younger women are getting much more the same also. In a large part im not sure if the Incel tag is gonna work much longer. Younger women are getting red pilled also. Another anecdote, im constantly surprised by how much less the 18 to 22 year olds I encounter are on their phones and consuming content. I'm a millennial and they clown me for it. I say all this to say that it's very easy to lose touch unless your actively with younger people instead of just going off of social media and other influencers, infuencers aren't real people. There's alot more I could say on this but I'll leave it at that.
