Thank you for the positive comments on having kids. We're considering IVF after finding out some really devastating news my husband and I were talking "is it really worth bringing a kid into this world?" This kinda helped solidify that we are going to take that next step.

It’s punk rock to be positive is really something I need to focus on

Almanac_Gossip_Girl

Staying positive in the current climate is very challenging and I'm not always able to talk myself back into it - it's comforting/encouraging to hear other people point out that it's a radical act to say "fuck you, I have hope"

Thinking about having kids (and staying positive about having them) is such a monumental thing. My wife and I have talked a lot about if we should have kids (as a trans woman if it will be safe enough to raise a family, the extra complications in conceiving, and just the financial instability of *gestures widely*.) I admire people who are having kids now, who are choosing in uncertain times to push forward with choosing to have families and be resilient in that way. Not to get too deep and honest, but I’m not sure if we will get there. I guess for now just holding onto the hope that we will be able to in the near-ish future is the optimism I can offer. Great episode, loved the interview, gave me/us a lot to think about!

TitanOlaf

the interview was really neat- I think I may end up checking out his content now. But yeah, sometimes all we can do is make our kids lives as good as we can and hope to prepare them to face the world without erasing the ideas of love and empathy. I think that’s the part that’s hard: because you have to accept the hardness of the world.

My kids are 21 and 23. I’m terrified for their future but they’re just vibing. So I have faith that Gen Z will be ok. And as time goes on and things shift the rest of future gen’s will be a-ok too. This clown show will end. Staying optimistically terrified lmao.

Something I noticed about journalism over the years ( not counting Fox entertainment ) is an increasing lean towards one view or another. Not that journalists didn’t lean but it’s gotten so that it’s no longer subtle. I’m more and more reminded of the stuff my professor covered in propaganda and photography. It’s to the point that trusted sources such as Reuters or Associate Press I question it and so I tend to get it from multiple sources and try to filter out any opinions or leaning. Most of this is behind a pay wall which makes me distrust it even more. I believe that my generation is the last to see trusted journalists like Walter Cronkite.

“The most punk rock thing you can do is have hope” Mrs. P drops amazing life advice every week and we need merch for it!!

KingCoreyBear

I always appreciate David Packman's level headedness and then Pearlmania's outrage. It's important to have a balanced meal. 😂

Moth_Goblin

I enjoyed this episode like I do all episodes, when are the deep dives on random topics that aren't politics coming back? lol. I miss my break from all the politics everywhere

Pearlmania500

I am working on one right now 😊 it’s gonna be a positive good person one (like Bobs Red Mill , Dr.Bronner) , should be done and recorded soon ~ Mrs.P

Moth_Goblin

Awesome! Yall do great work, I got my sister hooked too 😁

SwampAstronaut

As someone with a degree in media literacy, I loved all this discourse. More guests!!!! (The Pearlmanias are enough I promise. I just really enjoyed the guest format.)

annoyedinthevoid

I was so stoked to listen to you talk with David Pakman! This episode felt like a needed mental reset.

Potatoes_in_Idaho_aren’t_special

As a fellow blueberry fan, if you take a trip to Hammonton NJ starting in June you can pick your own blueberries a lot cheaper. I have been to DiMeo family farms several times. Now it’s $30 for 12 pints. Supposedly now appointment only but there’s other blueberry picking in Hammonton too. Worth the trip for me.

Not gonna lie guys. I am a huge David Fan…. But I miss the old format. An escape with a sprinkle of politics

I think covid and the whole pandemic traumatized us far more than we realize

Mad Mads Kasperagus

This was a neat episode!! I did notice Mrs. P not have a lot of input, which is totally understandable in this instance. But if you do another guest interview you should do someone she chooses!

victrona

I don't really hear people saying " I'm not having kids because we're ruining the planet". That's mostly a fox news talking point about the left. I only hear real people saying I can't/won't have kids because of not having money, good health, safety, lack of education, high risk of violence etc. Those are real and valid fears. (Also the rate of fertility is dropping hard)

Erin Harris

Loved this collab!! Glad y'all know each other

Hey-hey it’s Wah-say

I love being able to drop history facts at work and with my kids. Little do they know it’s because of the Pearlmans lol but it’s getting close to gardening and I really enjoy putting my headphones on and listening to the deep dives type topics

Allegedly a Mrs P fan

This was an EXCELLENT format for Pearlmania’s outrage. Having intellectual discourse with an equal was amazing. It gave me a few little peaks of anxiety just due to the nature of politics. BUT hearing the intellect and reason behind the opinions was refreshing. I greatly prefer this over the loud rants we’ve experienced of late. MORE guests!!

Deafleader

I know the classic “how are you better than you were 4 years ago” question is a thing, but we should normalize asking politicians how their polities will benefit our kids when they’re grown 🤔 it’s strange we didn’t discuss this more, even before Trump

Deafleader

(Or second semester freshmen in undergrad lol) But you’re absolutely right
