In this episode the Pearlmans look at the life and Legacy of Jim Henson. From growing up as a christian scientist to pioneering television in a way that taught children and adults powerful lessons about accepting those different than you.

Just in time for my Sunday shift.

My fondest memories is the excitement when the new Muppet’s Show would come on tv and dancing around to the sound track to the Muppet movie.

Guys, I love you so much, but the audio levels on this episode are out of w h a c k. I don't know if it's a Spotify thing, but this is the only pod I am experiencing this problem with to this extent. Your audio is so low I have to massively turn up the volume, but the inserted ads (not your ad reads) have normal volume and blow out my ears. Just letting you know because it puts a bit of a damper on otherwise great content. Again - love you, and love the episode! ⭐💞

Two if by fire

In the 80’s I knew a white meat vegetarian. Only chicken, turkey, and fish.

It's Marppets Time! I too am an adult that enjoys the Muppets. Jim Henson's company produced the Dark Crystal series on Netflix and it was so good. Still mad it was cancelled.

Thanksitscrochet

The muppets are my all time favorite. I’m so sad to see muppet vision 3D being removed from Disney world’s Hollywood studios. I just got my current favorite insulated cup with Sam eagle and the quote “a salute to all nations but mostly America” on it

A bunch of guys I work with have jeeps and I like telling them I heard the rubber ducks are like the rubber sex bracelets from the 2000s and I know what they are up to. Everyone gets super defensive and I get a good chuckle 🤭

When you said sing a song, I started singing "Sing a Song" from Sesame Street.

PS I definitely commented too early, because goddamn what a beautiful episode, thank you so much for this. I'm an English as a foreign language teacher, and while we certainly know Sesame Street and the Muppets in my country, it hasn't been a huge part of my childhood. But I wish it was, and I'll for sure use them in class - because I want to spread that love and beautiful message. Peoples is peoples!

Unknowingly laughing at 9/11 😂, wait until they find out what the "so you got your degree and you know everything f***ing thing" comes from 😅🥲

Just a note about being happy and sad, there is a children’s book called “I’m happy sad today” and you guys should check it out ❤️

MillennialCatMom

You said adult conversation and IMMEDIATELY I was like oh the parents are fighting or talking about the problem family member. 😂

I am refusing to use Mr. P’s abomination of a portmanteau, but I did make it to the end… lol I remember seeing Jim Hensen on TV in his all-white wearing phase and it just making sense. He was Jim Hensen, why would he look like everyone else? It never occurred to me to question it until today when I heard the show 😆

I'm 53 and single with no intentions of having a partner again but I would like a roommate once my son is fully out of the house. Let's normalize adults having roommates.

Mighty morpin marpets time

I was a ~puppeteer~ in elementary and middle school, and so in high school when I went with a group to Latin America to teach some kiddos, I volunteered to create the character of and puppet for a lil caterpillar/bookworm storyteller (Gusanito 🐛). While at the store buying the hodgepodge of stuff needed to create my lil friend (soda bottle, too many variations of green fabric, googly eyes, etc), the cashier started chatting with me about my project. He thought it was cool and asked if I was going to be the next Jim Henson, except I have terrible hearing and thought he said Jimi Hendrix... and, to this guy I thought was very cute and was possibly hitting on me, I said, "No, I wish I could play the guitar, but I don't." We both went quiet after that, super confused. Thankfully I graduated and moved out of town within the year, but until then I avoided his line anytime I needed to make a Target run 😂😅

Uncontrollable_airhorn_kare_bear

My two spirits animals are Oscar the Grouch and Animal. I really liked finding out he was originally orange. That means he would’ve matched his little worm buddy he had

Pelicans are my favorite dinosaur

So only the turkey and chicken breast meat? No salmon?😂 that's funny that they use the term "vegetarian" at all.

It's Marpet's Time! What a wholesome episode. Had to put my flaming torch and pitchfork down for this one.

alex, your story about “what are we gonna do without jim henson?” hit me so hard this rainy monday morning you got me crying during my commute. absolutely incredible episode y’all

Pupinettes vs Marpets has fundamentally changed my relationship

Lovexash

I’ll be sending another package to your PO Box. :) my daughters grandma may or may not have given us bulk rubber ducks 3 years ago that we have no use for.

Smiling, nodding, didn’t get the joke

I’ve been having the same, with the theme music and bumpers being loud and the audio being super quiet. I tried on different apps and it was the same issue. If anyone knows of a settings change to fix it on my end, let me know!

It's Marpets time!!!! Sesame Street taught me so much. The Muppet Show is timeless. The Muppet movies are absolute fire.

Marpet vs Muppet is giving Teenjus vibes lmaoooo

RaiHoneybb 🦆

Idk if anyone on here watches RHOBH but the part about the white meat vegetarians reminds me of Sutton who she says she’s a vegetarian but she eats bacon but only on vacation 😂☠️

Mr and Mrs P I beg you please shine some light on what is going down at the Library of Congress. Trump is attempting to take over legislative branch agency directly completely bypassing checks and balances. It stores not only official records but the copyright office and many many others of our nations treasures!! Including a muppet!!!!

Arlo the Average

The Marpets are fake but the Moopets are somehow real

DamnYouVodka

Oh hello there it's your boots on the ground vegetarian here 🙋‍♀️ Pollotarianism is a thing, I've been told it's folks who don't like eating animals, but chickens (and I think fish) are okay because they're not very smart lol

It's Marpet time! The Muppets Family Christmas (available on YouTube) is my favorite special! I believe it's the only time the casts of Sesame St, Fraggle Rock and the Muppets were all together.

Heythere

Really loved this one. If you ever make it down to Atlanta, you should visit the Center for Puppetry Arts! It’s world renowned, and has a whole Jim Henson museum. The puppet shows are top notch too, your son would love!

As a longtime vegan and even longer time vegetarian that was raised Catholic, I think a lot of the belief that chicken isn't meat comes from unserious Catholics. As Mrs. Pearlmania knows you can't eat meat on Friday in lent but in my CATHOLIC SCHOOL chicken didn't count as meat for kids. I also knew adults that didn't count chicken as meat for whatever reason, maybe something hanging on from childhood? SERIOUS Catholics know it's meat but the ones who only go to church on Christmas and easter... they're not keeping up. But then when I became vegetarian as a teen is was mostly those same people who ate chicken on Friday in lent that thought chicken was vegetarian and they can serve it to me.

It's Marpet Time! For my creative endeavor, Im competing in the Minnesota Air Guitar Competiton this Saturday in Minneapolis, which will hopefully be streamed somewhere for those who aren't attending.

Felix Dubis Wolf

Incredible ep as always!!! but the intro was so loud. I turned up my volume to hear Mrs Ps opener and then his name was Dusk almost blew out my eardrums 🙈

It’s Marpet time! Fantastic episode 🎉. Labyrinth is one of my top three favorite movies from childhood 🩷. While my mom is a huge Christmas Carol fan, her favorite Christmas movie is Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas, also made by Jim Henson. It’s totally heartwarming 💗

CheeseDizMilk

Its Marpet time!!! Bein' Green was my core memory of being different.... thank you for reminding me it's okay. And like Mr. P said, I grew up compartmentalize my feelings to get away from the stereotype of being a woman. But today was the day I randomly thought of sesame street got me through my childhood along with barney! Thank you!

The sound is bad. Mr. Third needs to do us a solid.

Ok everyone hates Chevy but DO NOT MESS WITH DAN AYKROYD. I WILL FIGHT YOU. he is precious.

It's been a long week or two and I got sick so I am a bit behind, but I just stopped by to say, "It's Marpets Time!" Oh, and Muppet Babies really did make my dreams come true on Saturday mornings as a kid in the 80s! ... And some of my *other* favorite Muppets are Rygel and Pilot from Farscape!

✨Sparkling Misandry✨

I'm still catching up too...it's definitely marpets time, but also, on the note of local stations/shows and how sad it is to have lost them...if any of you grew up in the Portland, Oregon area and are of a Certain Age, you might remember Bumpity. Bumpity was a local kids' show featuring a puppet of a bump in a park. Yes that's right, the main character was Bumpity, and he was just a bump. His friend was a worm and he hung out with librarians pretty frequently. (You'd love it, Mrs. P) Of course, very few of these shows were recorded but there is a documentary about Bumpity on YouTube and I highly recommend looking it up. It's called Bumpity Returns. :)

SwampAstronaut

Mrs. P, I HAVE to show you my Muppet overalls.

jessimightpanic

This episode brought me so much joy. Jim Henson is such a huge part of my childhood and I love him.

Jars drawings big bird cryptid drawings 🤣 I was thinking about this video when they were talking about the old big bird

Deafleader

“This is the Jim Henson episode, let’s not talk about racist jeeps” 🤣🤣

The themes and samples are louder than they were, bless 🙏🏼 awesome
