My dad had legionaries like 10 years ago (kidneys shut down and was in the ICU for 10 days). It is from a natural forming bacteria that lives in fresh water. You can get it from a improperly cared for hot tubs, water tanks, or large AC cooling tanks. And the name Legionnaires and the bacteria legionella is because at the hotel there was a American Legion conference going on and that is who got sick (some died).

Re: Legionnaires -- large cities typically deal with a small number of cases of legionnaires annually if the infrastructure uses rooftop cooling towers that use warm water systems for large buildings (apartments, hospitals etc etc). If they're not properly maintained Legionella can multiply rapidly and spread. My experience revolves around NYC - the health department requires building owners to register cooling towers, routinely test, and clean and disinfect them. The recent outbreak in NYC is being attributed to multiple positive tests in towers like Yankee Stadium, Lincoln Hospital, and a college, among other places. Summers bring an increase in cases bc the chlorine in the towers breaks down in sunlight and warm temps increase the breakdown. It's likely that as climate change continues to bring record breaking hot summers, we'll continue to see larger outbreaks.

I decided that Patreon is the most likely place Mr or Mrs P will see this comment, so I need to add it here that I started watching this episode last night and was finishing it this morning, which my 11yo twins saw at a glance and immediately giggled, "Mom's watching the sunning balls guy pod again", with the other asking "isn't it too early for this?." Yes, my wise ones, 6am on a Monday is too early, in general, for EVERYTHING. Mr. P is lovingly referred to, by them, as the sunning balls guy stemming from the day i watched TMT episode 126 the Instagram ballfluencer, which had me laughing so hard that I was crying, and they asked why. I took out my ear buds and let them listen to tiny parts, like men smacking their balls and laying out back with their balls to the sun. (Yes, i was carefully starting and stopping so age inappropriate jokes weren't heard by them.) I just wanted to give them the premise and to see Mr. P's face as he hears each quack step. They were 10yo boys, at that point, and balls are funny at that age (although hubby says they are pretty much funny at any age, so whatever lol!) Anyway, in their little AuDHD brains, and being the children of a nurse who has worked on dozens of peer reviewed studies and often has to research alternative premises and despises crack pots and quacks more than the average human, they now permanently equate Mr. P's face with that tiny bit of reference material I shared so it's become their little giggle to ask each Sunday (they also giggle that it's on each SUN-day) if I've watched the "sunning balls pod" yet or to exclaim "it's the sunning balls guy" if they see me watching anything with Alex in it on short form content or when I'm watching the crashing out pod. Wanted to share in the hopes that their goofiness will make others smile on this Monday! 🤣😂 Anyway, love the pod and COMPOST THE RICH!

Waldorf mom here we dont do the weird anthroposophy nonsense. School owned and run by teachers that doesn't stick my kid in front of a Chromebook and I was sold. My kid gets to read and write on paper with real books and they get to move and be creative and be kids. Lots of gardening, arts and outdoor time that our local public schools dont offer and no standardized testing so the teachers and parents can build curriculum around what the kids need and not teaching to meet state testing requirements. My kid is soo happy in Waldorf and their teachers are incredible (and paid well). Im sure it varies from schools to school but all our kids are vaccinated and see real licensed doctors.

As much as I strive to be Mrs. P (Catholic school girlie too and all my science teachers were nuns!). When you got to the part about vaccines, I paused the episode and started swearing about the no vaccines! There’s a lot of things the Catholic Church gets wrong, don’t get me wrong, but I’m glad we’re on the right side of history for vaccines!

So as a German I can say Waldorf schools are popular here but constantly made fun off. A real and esoteric practice that is the running gag here is that you learn how to dance your name. Also I love you but your German pronunciation is abysmal 😘

Two things: 1. I would love an Aaron Burr episode. I was surprised to hear Alex act like dude wasn’t a crazy wanna be king who tried to make his own country. (At least I thought) 2. This comment is about the Kellogg video. I hear the video forever ago and have been obsessed bc people in my org actually work in that building and …. Today I finally went on a work trip there and I got to get a real tour!!! It was so freaking cool. I got to take photos of the cool ass shit there and get to see all the weird stuff there. They have a 13 1/2 floor. I also sounded as smart as the tour guide bc I remembered the video. So amazing job!!!!

They have not announced what they plan on doing with the 200 plus years of everything they have there. They have original artifacts from Audubon.
