As announced on the show, we have reached out stretch goal of 500 patreons, so Mr. P is going to read a book of your choosing!

All patreons can submit their book nominations in this thread by commenting below with a book title and author. Mrs. P. will then choose the best entries and post a poll for our final choice in early October.

Happy 500 club nominating day! And may the odds be ever in your favor.

One that he would probably enjoy- the silent patient by Alex Michaelides One that the fans would enjoy - Ice planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon

Brianna Kern

Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon because I would die to hear him describe this book lmao Or Verity by Colleen Hoover if you wanna die from plot twist.

E

E

Y’all who are recommending CoHo will not see heaven 😂

Allegedly a Mrs P fan

Fairy Tale by Stephen King. I read that faster than any book ever.

Buttfaceki11a

Agree with Verity! He’s gonna lose his mind. 😂

j-worms

Isthisthingon

E

Flowers from the Storm — Laura Kinsale Ice Planet Barbarians — Ruby Dixon Because my husband said I should: my book, How That Makes You Feel by Elle Diaz. It’s real good and spicy.

For one that Mr.P might enjoy: Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno Horror, Gothic, Period Piece with a sick twist ending

Tychopotts

12 Rules of life by Jordan Peterson I have no idea why people keep picking enjoyable books when we're all here for the rage. Let's make this hurt a bit

Kuh

You're evil 🙈 😂😂😂

Moth_Goblin

From blood and ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden The Help by Kathryn Stockett Anything by Michelle Moran - Cleopatra's Daughter - Nefertiti - Heretic Queen - The 2nd Empress - Madame Tussaud - Rebel Queen The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

✨Sparkling Misandry✨

The Complete Double Dead by Chuck Wendig. Zombies and vampires for people who don't like zombies and vampires.

Tychopotts

Nah, this is Delco love! Sadism and lead runs thru our veins

Sweet Dreams System

It would be hilarious to have Alex read A Court of Thorns and Roses.

TwrexxSmash

Ohhh man. 🤔🤔🤔 House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski I feel like he might enjoy how it's put together and written... Or he will actually loathe it for those exact reasons and we will get a Very Angry Pearlman's Very Special Episode™ 😂

March

I nominate promise of blood by Brian McLellan. It's a fantasy at an 18th century technology level instead of a middle ages technology level. It's a super fun read, and is part of a trilogy if he wants more.

Jennifer

11/22/63 by Stephen King!

Alyssa Has A Life

I need to see Mr P’s reaction to Verity by Colleen Hoover lol

BJ Sandos, Home of the Reuben Tug

Devolution by Max Brooks. Thriller from a political writer about big foot? Not too long and a good time. I don't even remember any dolphins OR bisexual scientists.

Althea H

Anything by Chick Tingle, a critical reading of Colleen Hoover, or The Long Walk by Stephen King

Taris Harlow

Red Rising by Pierce Brown. I secretly want to know if other people get as angry at this book as I did.

Max Monheit

The Crimson Labyrinth by Yusuke Kishi! Its from the late 90s but got translated in the mid aughts. A neat precursor to the whole reality tv satire turn horror-dystopia-battle royale that was popularized by the likes of Hunger Games and later Squid Games. Wont really spoil it but basically each contestant wakes up alone in a desert and gets instructions on what to do from little handheld gaming devices, only to have to fend for themselves, make alliances and enemies, figure out how to survive and gather different kinds of resources, weapons, or info depending on where they choose to go in the game- all in an attempt to be the one to make it out alive... very familiar but it was before the genre was as well established!

Sunshine Magik

Fated by Benedict Jacka. First book in the Alex Verus series

No One in Particular

The Shining- Stephen King or any other book with deep sea adventures/dolphins/mermaids/bi sexual scientists

Althea H

*chuck tingle lol

Katrina Erck

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, please!!

Cyclicbuffer

Anything from Dresden Files. This was the "His Name was Dusk" pick. He wanted Storm Front. I think it could be something like Changes or Dead Beat. My favorite would be Dead Beat (so he could read about riding Sue into battle!)

CeddyRick

Prison Writings: My Life is My Sundance by Leonard Peltier

Bob's Ironwork

I think he'd like The Children's of Hurin by Tolkien

Joseph Pate

House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski. Probably a bit too experimental and would be kinda difficult to do a book report on, but it is by far my favorite novel.

SheetzGang

Let’s get him hooked on Brandon Sanderson so that we have decades worth of Mr. P’s book club to look forward to. Start with Mistborn

Anthony Diaz

Perhaps The Way of Kings...it's huge, but it's also a gateway Sanderson book

deviled_bells

Bit on brand but Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone...

Anthony Diaz

So many to choose from: He plays D&D, how about The Halflings Gem by R.A. Salvatore

Deep Space Feline

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Very sciencey book but one of my favorites.

Adventure Services

If they ever need someone to read House of Leaves for them I'll do it in a heartbeat. My favorite book. Heavily influential on me. I reference it a lot in my band's last album.

Adventure Services

Don't you think he should start from the begining though?

Adventure Services

Great username. I had suggested this one to him at some point back in the day.

Adventure Services

Are the Nightvale books similar to the podcast? I've been behind on listening to the podcast and there are so many now that it got kind of overwhelming to jump back in, but really loved it back in the day and would love to get back to the Nightvale world.

Cyclicbuffer

I do! However, he seems really hung up on the title of the book. Nazi/racism vibes and all of that. Maybe we could use Sue to hook him? And then have him circle back and read from the beginning? Just throwing that out there.

Adventure Services

My favorite book. I really love this suggestion. One of the most influential books in my life and I actually read it when Mr. P and I were roommates. My band's last album has a lot of references to it.

Joseph Pate

Have you read The Familiar? Shame its unfinished.

TwrexxSmash

Hell yeah, Mr. Was Dusk! I knew I liked you not just for the dope tunes and your guest spot episode 😂 House of Leaves was super influential for me as well. I read it for the first time when I moved into a new house and it may or may not have helped convince me the place was haunted. (tho legit that place was creepy af. Converted 1800s Carriage House in the middle of mountains and woods in Central PA. How could the place NOT be haunted? While reading about When the dad discovers the closet issue in the book my closet opened up by itself 💀)

Dean Denton

They are standalone adventures that take place in that world. You can easily read them without being caught up

Grocery bag

Midnight in the garden of good and evil

The Pod is Coming From Inside the Cast!

Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane is a pulpy, wild little book written by the great William Peter Blatty, best known for writing The Exorcist. It's about a castle that's being used to house insane war veterans, but it's also about a bunch of other stuff too. Blatty also adapted it into a film himself called The Ninth Configuration which I love.

Adventure Services

I own the first two volumes, but couldn't really get into it. Seemed like too much of an investment knowing it was already cancelled.

Adventure Services

With a house like that it would almost feel like a ripoff if it wasn't at least a bit haunted. The first time I read it I was reading the part where Navidson's brother is alone in the dark at the top of the stairs while walking and walked into a stairwell where all of the power was out and I didn't notice until the door closed behind me leaving me in complete darkness. The feeling of struggling in the dark to find the doorknob is burned into my brain to this day.

Chaotic Chemist

Cirque du Freak series by Darren Shan please 🥺

TwrexxSmash

I love just how successful this book is at getting the reader emotionally engrossed in it's suspension. The stories layer so well within themselves, once I understood what was going on with the composition of it, I couldn't stop making myself scared of my own surroundings. It like got in my brain and triggered some reptilian fight or flight. Is that fun? I have no clue, but I frigging loved it. It may almost be time for another go around 😅 especially if it's in solidarity with Mr. Pearlman500. Oh and I know exactly that fear feeling. Being on the edge of a stairwell in the fresh pitch black while your eyes adjust to the darkness. Instant adrenal-fear rush 😱

Megan

I have a few ideas- The White Ship by Charles Spencer. She-Wolves: The Women who ruled England before Elizabeth by Helen Castor Both of these are nonfictions I read this year and enjoyed. And the fiction book I read and wanted to like more than I did was The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd. All are available on audio.

Showmeyourhams

Flowers In The Attic by V.C. Andrews 🤭

Nicolette

Pawn of Prophecy - David Eddings

E

Mexican Gothic slaps.

Deadmansgirl21

I capture the castle-Dodie Smith The titans curse-Rick Riordan Obasan-Joy Kogawa

Skw3rlch4n

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir Kill the Farm Boy by Delilah S. Dawson & Kevin Hearne You Suck: A Love Story by Christopher Moore

Holograhamcracker

Storm Front. I think you should read Storm Front by Jim Butcher.

Nala

Gotta say. Has to be storm front.

Sierra

All The Light We Cannot See- Anthony Doerr is an absolutely amazing novel. It’s a heart wrenching historical fiction and one of my all time favorites

Sierra

I was kinda thinking the same thing lol I’ve only read Verity and it’s insane

Jeronimo Contreras

Scar tissue - Anthony Kiedis I just want to hear Mrs. P talk about the Red Hot Chili Peppers 😂

simplebrute

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides

Wish.exe

Kinda of a boring-ish choice compared to everyone else, but IT by Stephen King. Idk why I just want to hear Mr. P scream about it. I thought it was gonna be a spooky book version of the movie, but then there was a turtle or something. Idk my adhd couldn’t focus anymore lol

sykopoet

The Girl With All The Gifts by M. R. Carey. So good!!

Wish.exe

Wait wait wait… the Animorphs Series. Just saw a TikTok of someone summarizing it and it’s wild wild.

Empress Poinsettia

I also came here to recommend Brandon Sanderson very good reads

Harper Lee

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone! I believe Mr. P said Im he hadn’t read the books. My second option would be Fairytale by Steven King! It was such a fun book!

Hellso

I still need to go back and actually read 1984. I managed to half ass it in highschool

stinker

SHERRY SHRINER

MandyBeingHealthy

Where The Heart Is by Billie Letts. It's the book that movie where Natalie Portman had the baby in the Walmart. Alex will love it I'm sure.

Psyunide

Stephen King’s IT

NoboTheGnome

Even the ikea style building instructions and the land allotments, just, cover to cover all over that OT 😂

NoboTheGnome

Oooh can we just nominate the entire Legend of Drizzt series starting with Homeland 🥺🥺 it would probably be a hate read at first with all the proper nouns it throws out there up front but I think after a while we could win him over 😂

Hoedimaggio

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair is a great read but I also want to hear your thoughts on The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Pearlmania500

Fun fact I read this book because his name was dusk recommended it so highly, very trippy. I could never explain it to Alex lol ~ Mrs. P

Showmeyourhams

He hasn't been broken yet!! 😂 I think it's worth a shot 🤭

Tychopotts

Hell yes! Please vote this up in the finals!

Marcus Hilarious

Cadillac Desert by Marc Reisner. It's about the evolution of water rights in the American West and how we're all fucked because of it.

H4ylstorm

How do you feel? 😂

Alfred McCarthy

God's Middle Finger, by Richard Grant ---or--- Dissolution by C. J. Sansom

Niles

Omg I don't have a suggestion but am so happy reading all the comments! :)
