Mindscape Big Update: Items in scenes, Actors Board Overhaul And More! (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone! This update was supposed to be a small one, but i just couldn't stop myself from adding more, fixing more, and adjusting more and finally..... here we are. Actors Board got a complete overhaul now! It looks and works much better now!
Let's get into the specfics, what change!?
Bug fixes
Fixed multiple bugs preventing multiple windows in the popped out Mindscape window from showing
Fixed canvas notes jumping back to page 1 whenever something else on the screen updated (changing music tracks, adding or removing portraits, etc..).
Fixed locations losing their image after changing it through the Edit Location window.
Quality of life
Added the ability to select multiple elements in the Mindscape cavas and dragging them
Renaming a location now updates its markers on the map automatically.
New Features
New small feature, when hovering over markers preview of the location's image hover next to ist right (GM only)
Click on a text field so it shows on the main screen
to read prepared speeches for example
Items drop on Mindscape
You can now drag items onto a Mindscape location scene and they appear as artwork on the scene, visible to everyone. Players can drop items too.
Right-click an item to interact: Take puts it straight into your character's inventory and removes it from the scene (first come, first served), Examine opens the item up close, and the GM can Remove it.
The GM can drag items around the scene and resize them with the mouse wheel, just like portraits.
Items are saved with the location,
New "Item Style" option in the Mindscape settings: show items in the same card frames as character portraits, or as free-floating artwork (For items with transparent backgrounds!)
Most notably game computers can now be dropped on the scene and used!
Update Game Computer so this works!
Actors Board Overhaul!
A whole new look
Characters are now circular portraits with their names underneath, replacing the old rectangular cards.
Portraits render at high quality at any size and zoom, with proper crop framing (no more blur, pixelation, or black edges when zooming).
Every ring carries a subtle glow on the line itself, rings gently thicken when hovered, and a soft pulse runs over them now and then.
Ambient embers drift over the board for atmosphere, without touching your background.
Names and sub labels under the circles were enlarged for readability.
Character customization (right-click a character)
Adjust Portrait, rebuilt around a live circular preview
Border controls: color, line style (solid, dashed, dotted), and a thickness slider.
Ring builder: stack as many extra rings around a character as you like. Each ring has its own color, style, distance, thickness, opacity, and an optional slow rotation; a rotating solid ring shows an orbiting pulse of light instead.
Effects: a glow with adjustable color and strength, and Color Shift, which makes the border breathe between two colors of your choice at your chosen speed.
Badge icons: pin a small icon to the top of a character's ring, picked from the Mindscape icon set or Foundry's own icons.
Sub labels: a second line under the name, in the character's ring color ("Unofficial Prince", "The Coterie"...).
Mark Dead: a red X over a grayed-out portrait.
Hover Tooltip: type anything and it appears in a small card when hovering that character; nothing shows for characters without one.
A Default Border button in the header sets the default ring color and thickness for everyone without a custom one.
Hubs
Right-click empty board space to create hub nodes: factions, places, organizations. Give them an image, an icon from the picker, or just a letter.
The Lines: your own relationship types
A legend box on the board where you define your own line types: name, color, line style, and arrows (one way, mutual, or none). No premade types.
Click a type in the legend, then click two characters to draw that line between them.
Each type has an eye toggle to show or hide all its lines at once.
Connections have more customization options
Focus and the details panel
Click a character: the camera glides over, unrelated characters dim, their lines fade back, and the details panel opens.
While focused, that character's connections animate: solid lines carry a traveling pulse of light (mutual lines pulse outward from the relationship word in both directions), dashed and dotted lines march their dashes.
New details panel options in the settings to let the panel open as a side drawer, and add an optional full-styled portrait at the top of it.
These options are perfect for when Mindscape is popped out!
A search box in the header finds any face and flies you to them.
Minimap
When mindscape is popped out the board has a minimap that always shows every character and drawn area so you have a better overview of your actors board
I wasn't expecting the update to get this big, but it was honestly fun to make! Now we have a concrete plan for the next couple of weeks going forwrad.
The first thing on the agenda is geting the V20 system out as soon as possible. I'm putting the final touches on it right now and hope to release it in the next couple of days.
After the V20 system release I have a HUGE update planned for Enhanced Inventory with so many requested features. Frankly, I was baffled by the amount of feature requests.
Once Enhanced Inventory is updated I'll resume work on the Game Computer! There is so much to be done with that module I don't see version 1.0 released any time soon.
As you can see: there is SO MUCH to be done and there is only one of me, but once again I want to tell you that I'm eternally grateful for each and every one of you for your continued support! Stick with me! Great things are coming!
