Mindscape Update! (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone, hope you're having a great day! As promised the Mindscape update is here and it brings some cool new features and some fixes/adjustments!
Here is what 1.7.0 brings!
Export Data
New Export Data button in the panel header. Downloads the entire Mindscape state, locations, notes, actors boards, relationships, session flow, and GM notes, as a single readable Markdown file. Useful as a campaign backup or for feeding your sessions to an AI assistant for recaps and questions.
Actor Groups & Folder Drops
New Groups section at the bottom of the Actors tab. Create named groups with the + button, drag actors in, click to expand and manage members
Groups and actor folders can now be dropped anywhere actors go: onto a Mindscape scene, onto a location card, into a location’s “drag actors here” bar, or onto the Mindscape canvas
Folders containing subfolders are ignored (with a warning), only flat folders work.
Character Spotlight
New toggle in Token Controls: bring character portraits onto the screen like a visual novel, for dramatic moments mid-battle without leaving the battlemap.
With the spotlight active, selecting a token on the map adds that character’s portrait, rising from the bottom edge of the screen. Right-click a portrait to dismiss it, toggle off (or change scene) to clear everything.
Portraits use the full Mindscape rendering
Portrait controls (on hover):
Drag left/right to arrange the lineup (vertically locked to the bottom).
Mirror to flip a portrait’s facing.
Portrait States opens the same state grid as scene portraits
Rotate: hold and drag to tilt, click to reset upright.
Mousewheel over a portrait to grow or shrink it, anchored to the floor line.
Resizing portraits is now much smoother
Fixes
Location card names: long words in location names no longer get cut mid-word (e.g. “neighborho / od”). When a name is too wide for its card, the text now shrinks to fit so every word stays whole.
Fixed marquee-selected actor pins: Remove now deletes every selected pin and shows the count (“Remove (4)”), not just the one you right-clicked.
Fixed blurry portrait pins when added while zoomed out. The board now re-renders at the real zoom level, so tokens stay sharp at any zoom, panning is still smooth.
Scene Transitions: Black Screen Fixes
Show to Players can no longer leave the table on a permanent black screen. If anything fails mid-transition (including another module cancelling or breaking the scene creation), the screen fades back automatically and a clear error explains what went wrong.
Added a failsafe: if any transition stalls for more than 10 seconds, the black cover lifts on its own. Worst case you see Foundry’s normal loading screen instead of a dead black wall.
Fixed a black screen when clicking a scene pin for the scene you’re already viewing while it isn’t the active one.
I'll be working on a small neat module up next and will post a poll on the Discord server to see what the people want!
Thank you all for your continued support!
