Thank you and all the lovelies here for such a lovely stream! It genuinely breezed by and made my week. If you (or anyone!) needs any more BIPOC romantasy recs, I’m trying to pick up more of them too (because that’s one of the genres I write as well!). I recommend Faebound by Saara El-Arifi and The Jasad Heir by Sara Hashem. I’ve heard good things about The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon (this was originally Star Wars fanfic btw!) and Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan. These ones are more fantasy than romantasy, but they have at least a romance subplot: The Unbroken by C.L. Clark, The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri, and Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse. And, and I’m def going to ask people I know if they would give up all kisses or all sauces now in a ‘would you rather?’ game.

Also, to answer your very good questions (because I’d like to hear other people’s answers!): ❓I feel most like myself now and felt least like myself during my early twenties ❓During recess, my favorite thing to do was play hand games (like Numbers) ❓My other mundane kink (in addition to explaining things to me) would be appreciation for intentionality? Like highlighting that I have correctly noticed/perceived something and that my intentions landed? For example, “Thanks for picking up a pack of Big Red, I can’t believe you remembered that from when I mentioned it three weeks ago!” as opposed to “omg Big Red is my favorite gum, that’s crazy that you got that for me!”. Does that make sense? This feels MUCH more like loading a gun that will be used to shoot me than screaming “I LOVE CUM 😍” every single week jfc This was too fun, I hope we can all be together on stream again soon!! Ik we all screamed this already but I’m so so pumped for more prose/narration if you wanna go in that direction more often 📖 the superhero discussion was such a blast and the whole attraction demographic/“I’m hot but not too hot” bit was so fucking funny and imo the true mark of a humble hottie so!!! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I respect you keeping certain things a mystery (RIP glasses reveal), some things are better left imagined, or shared w your French landlord. Also, romance book recs: - King of Wrath by Ana Huang. I’d say this is a classic grump/sunshine story. Nothing drastic happened but Dante Russo is just so *swoon*. If you’re just going into romance book, I’ll say King of Wrath is definitely a good starter. Spicy level I’d say 2/5. - Lights Out by Nevessa Allen. This is labelled dark romance but I don’t think it’s dark. This is more like a dark rom-com, and a spicy one. Spicy level: 4.5/5. - Chicago ruthless series by Sadie Kincaid. This is a mafia romance series. It’s easy to read and spicy hehehehe. Spicy level: 4/5. Some honourable mentions: Twisted Game by Ana Huang (I love a good princess/bodyguard trope), Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez (I lowkey don’t line miscommunication, but Daniel is a cutie)

Meanwhile, thoughts: Discussing names. - I LOVE the names in the story; - Favorite is Laundry because it fits the character, the name gives you an immediate handle on what SORT of character it is, - also with a name like Laundry you know there's either a super-meaningul or completely mundane story behind it. - I misheard "Kyren" as "Kylo Ren" and got very confused. Also re names: have you (August; others) read any of Iain M Banks's science fiction? He wrote literary fiction as Iain Banks, but when he added the M he wrote these awesome, witty, mind-expanding postishhuman space operas featuring a society called The Culture. Consider Phlebas is a good novel to start with, but Banks's "Notes on the Culture" essay is amazing (read at your peril; you will want to join up): http://www.vavatch.co.uk/books/banks/cultnote.htm But I thought the part on naming conventions might be of interest: "Culture names act as an address if the person concerned stays where they were brought up. Let's take an example; Balveda, from Consider Phlebas. "Her full name is Juboal-Rabaroansa Perosteck Alseyn Balveda dam T'seif. "The first part tells you she was born/brought up on Rabaroan Plate, in the Juboal stellar system (where there is only one Orbital in a system, the first part of a name will often be the name of the Orbital rather than the star); Perosteck is her given name (almost invariably the choice of one's mother), Alseyn is her chosen name (people usually choose their names in their teens, and sometimes have a succession through their lives; an alseyn is a graceful but fierce avian raptor common to many Orbitals in the region which includes the Juboal system); Balveda is her family name (usually one's mother's family name) and T'seif is the house/estate she was raised within. Wasn’t able to make the livestream but it was a fun watch! Loved getting a glimpse into Commander ch 2 bts! I have a rec of a brilliant short story (that I think is kind of popular?) I’ve been thinking of and reread recently, The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow. It’s fantasy. *Beautifully* written. I don’t want to give away much, it’s worth seeing it unravel first-hand, but it does have a tender love story. Unfortunately, I think it’s only available digitally.

I missed the last stream but I’m so glad I caught this one - it’s like the best kind of ambient background chaos (a comments section is one thing but I’m definitely a bystander in a chat). My most mundane kink is probably like the maintenance of day to day life I guess? There’s just so much of it (I would literally sell my soul to the devil and his minions to never have to wash a dish again) so if something is just done unprompted(!!), especially if I’ve been stressing about it or clearly putting it off, I cannot be held responsible for my actions at that point. Dropping in my own romantasy recs (although I feel like I’m a hater of the genre, but only because I care so much lmaaooo, and I’m yet to find a good blend of fantasy and romance — ANYWAY): One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig Magical/dark elements were unique (maybe more so because the genre currently feels saturated by sexy fae lmfao)! I feel like this one was universally liked, and I have to give it props for being digestible/fast-paced without being insufferable. I think I still wanted a bit more from this. Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo Okay so this rec list is actually the worst 😭 JDJKSKD. Quite the divisive book, and it’s not even romantasy. Occult with some pacing issues (maybe this will be a learning moment for your own novel), but the hints of romance are so tasty. He’s sexy for unknown reasons, and he’s literally missing for most of the book (absence makes the heart grow fonder, or whatever), but his academic/sullen/preppy archetype is hot. Hopefully this ain’t brooding vampire-esque. A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross A more folksy/celtic fantasy, but the blending of the genres is well done and the chemistry is there! Overall great atmosphere! He has an emotional support harp, which he plays in a sexy sad way. Haven’t gotten around to the second book yet. Oop almost forgot to mention that he’s a commoner and she’s the princess 😛 Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco “Me and my wife are looking for a third,” but said couple are vampires and the third may or may not be a human 😶‍🌫️. This one felt so nostalgic? I’m convinced the author is an OG fanfic writer. This book had me in the first half and then kind of lost me — still worth the rec! Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson (YA, interesting plot, cat-and-mouse romance. Spy sent to infiltrate a neighboring kingdom and surveil their leader.) I wish I had more high fantasy romance recs, but I’ll list some other popular ones that are not entirely terrible, and maybe I’m just super picky: - The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen - The Courting of Bristol Keats Somehow giving recs feels like a humiliation ritual

Sadly missed this because I too moved (it sucks!! good luck with yours but omg we hired movers and I still hate every moment I'm spending unpacking and doing errands for the new place especially since I'm not at the fun part of decorating yet) but listened to it when I finally had a moment to breathe (hanging up clothes in the closet after finally finding where we packed our hangers). Such a fun stream! Here are some thoughts I had while listening (probably not in order): For romance recs, I highly recommend most books by abby jiminez! Lighter on spice but a nice range of interesting characters & romance tropes. And then not bipoc but more fantasy and more smut, katee Robert's dark olympus series (Greek mythology smut basically). Mundane sfw kink: nothing gets me going like my husband coming home from doing errands and saying "can you come and put the groceries away?" and when I get to the kitchen there's actually flowers and boba and/or other sweet treats for me and then he acts all nonchalant about it I loved hearing about the space commander series and your writing process behind it!! I've struggled a lot with writing and like wanting to but not feeling like I'm ready/inspired/confident etc etc so it's cool to hear that you and probably others relate even a little bit . I feel like I was a fanfic writing (and reading) machine in my youth and now I struggle to write anything not work-related I totally understand the not-pronouncing things 'correctly' thing 😭 my husband always teases me when I say words wrong and it riles me up so much but like he also concedes that I'm smarter than him so this is the only thing he has on me (i am definitely sensitive bc im an immigrant and despite solely speaking English for decades my mouth doesn't always cooperate with what my brain is trying to say also there's a lot of words I've never hear out loud and only read! Not to mention knowing another language trips me up too) The gay friend clocking you as hot was so fucking funny . That's how you know you are actually hot!! I personally feel like I look better in videos / irl than in photos -- some of us have beauty that just can't be captured in 2D!

Ok after relistening to the live I actually think my mundane niche kink is when ppl say they pronounced something incorrectly 🍝 (I was/am JOKING obvi, “correct” pronunciation is subjective like you said and you should speak the way you want to!!). Also, the fave voice convo got me wondering which would be better: someone who is physically unattractive/not good looking at all BUT they have a lovely, beautiful perfect hot voice OR someone who’s physically stunning gorgeous bombshell supreme, but has a super grating, annoying, unpleasant voice 😶 v silly question but if anyone wants to share their answer I’m all ears!! As I was doing chores and daydreaming about the audios, as one does on Sundays, I started thinking about casting S&Ls (either in their pair or mixed up) in romantic/steamy movies? For example, Cardinal and Starling are obvi shoo-ins for something like The Thomas Crown Affair, but I also like Simon for the role of Thomas Crown 🤔... Who would you cast in a classic steamy and/or romantic movie? Which Speaker and which Listener are winning the lead roles in 13 Going on 30?!

I’ve been thinking about whether or not to say anything about this stream, but I keep thinking about it more than I thought I would. Since I’ve joined, this space has usually felt safe and intentional, which is why the tone of this particular stream felt different to past content. There was something about the energy here that blurred the boundaries that I have always felt were clearly articulated and intentionally upheld —which I’ve always appreciated. This time, though, the line between creator and audience seemed to shift into something that didn’t feel entirely comfortable in a context that was meant to be SFW. And that felt disappointing, especially in a space where there’s normally so much awareness around why boundaries are so important. I’m not sure if it was the repeated focus on personal appearance or just the overall broader vibe, but it felt like the audience was being invited into a more emotionally validating or personally invested role than usual. For me, that changed the dynamic in a way that felt a bit murky. It’s also been hard to watch how that change seemed to draw some very personal responses from the audience, reactions that go beyond what this space usually invites, especially given how this community has traditionally engaged. That kind of intensity has been pretty uneasy to witness. Even the idea of an "assumptions” stream where the audience guesses personal things about the creator—feels like it edges into a kind of closeness that (though unconfirmed) might not really be helpful for anyone, both creator and community. Maybe this might be seen as coming out of left field, and it’s hard to explain because nothing felt overt or dramatic—it was definitely a subtle shift. I found myself pulling back which surprised me. I’m not usually someone who comments much, but I’ve always found this community to be grounded, intentional, and thoughtfully shaped, and I've mostly enjoyed reading the comments here. I’m not saying this to be unkind or to criticize anyone who experienced it differently. I know these things land differently for different people, and that’s completely okay. I can also acknowledge that it’s been a tough time and I totally get that creators are human too and everyone has periods of difficulty. I really hope this doesn’t come off as disrespectful, because I do still respect all that is done here. It’s just something that I felt like it was worth naming—for me, this one felt off and was pretty hard to sit through. I'm thankful for the care and thought that is normally brought here. All the effort is appreciated, I just hope things stay grounded in what’s made this space feel so meaningful, not just to me but hopefully others too.

I was listening to this stream on my speaker while working. My mom walked in and asked what I was listening to, I tell her. Why did she stand there wanting to listen too? Lmfao, she sat with me for a good 5 minutes listening to August tell us what kinda hot he is (she has impeccable timing). She found that part to be quite amusing, especially the comments teasing August about the landlord story. 😭 Afterwards she was like "I understand your fascination. He has a very nice, soothing voice and a lovely laugh. It's like how we used to be fascinated by the men on Days of Our Lives and Bold and the Beautiful." Then we thirsted over Bo Brady and Ridge Forrester for a bit. 😭 A little note, I've spoken to her about various VAs and AE platforms so this kind of interaction isn't limited to AITW, lol. That's just the kind of relationship we have.

NAMES! Recently I attended a talk by the creative lead of the (original) Alien Isolation game. He was essentially tasked with creating a game environment as close to the Nostromo from the first movie as possible, and he had all these notes from HR Giger and Ridley Scott to work with; it was fascinating. ANYWAY, obviously it put me in mind of Rasha and Everen and the plight of the Wolf Spider, so I had a relisten while pottering this afternoon, and in case you are expanding the cast and universe, here are some unusualish, potentially futuristic names I've always loved. SEN is a great first or last name: it's south Asian, north Indian to be specific, eg Sen-Gupta (this is partly my heritage). You don't hear it a great deal, and I've always found it evocative and potentially unisex and futuristic. It could even be an honorofic. SAINT. Potentially a future first name, taken from (doy) a Saint's name but vulgarized in the way that "Mariá de la Soledad" has become the name Soledad in Spanish-speaking countries. ANNIK and ANOUK. French girls' names (more of my heritage) that don't get a lot of play. They're just so staccato and fun, even if as a template for modifying other names. Finally, just some Nordic people I know: Elin, Einar (pronounced EYE-narr), Asta, Ulvi, Sanna and Asko. There you go! Bit of an odd one but I had some names to offload and nowhere really to put 'em. Not planning on adopting THAT many cats. Hope all good!

So I just read Blindsight and Echopraxia by Peter Watts and I highly recommend it, especially after listening to the influences on Commander section. I highlighted so many parts of it in my e-reader and would absolutely get a special edition collector's printing. I think about it so much and it's so delightfully weird, but grounded (having a vampire space commander makes sense here, does intelligence imply belligerence? Is consciousness really needed for high intelligence?).
