You know, now that I'm looking at it again, I could be wrong. I was thinking it was Silbry based on the attacking creature, the color scheme of fire in the sky, and the little girl isolated watching from afar which could be either Suvi OR Ame watching from Grandmother Wren's house. At that point in the campaign, it was one of the most significant events that occurred at night and could be winking at the MIB's relationship to Rhuv.

There is something about the Man in Black saying he has held his breath since the dawn of time that has me wondering if he is a Great Spirit that is, in a way, a reflection of humanity. As far as I know, or assume, humanity began tracking time in Umora like we began tracking time in our real world. So is it the dawn of the world, or the beginning of *time* that this spirit is referring to? Nevermind the fact that the Man in Black is, at this point in time, focused on conquest of the mortal world (as hinted throughout the series, but mainly by Mirara saying he wants to bring the mortal world to his heel) 3am pre-work ramblings.

Every time I think of the man in black I think of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King which is my favorite book series of all time. I love love love this character and the animation. In the last fireside Brennan was talking about how the scariest spirit of them all is just a man and I think the simplicity of the character is what makes him so ominous that plus the resonance of his voice and foot steps. The artist captured that perfectly.
