It's hard to watch FWD knowing what we already know from the WD. I think the best comparison we have is COVID. People going about their lives and not paying attention to the news, in denial about what they've seen, the implications of what it all means, the shame related to (in their head) taking someone's life, etc. Think back to the governor, Herschel, season 1 Rick - the belief that there could be a cure. Nick and Madison both believe they'd killed people important to them at this point, making it difficult for them to share with Alicia what they'd seen. Oh, also, Madison was washing Artie's blood off her jacket in the bathtub. Calvin tried to bite her in episode 1 but didn't get through her jacket. She's not bit.

This show is really good if you just let another few episodes go by, things will start to make sense, and characters will start to grow on you very soon, the pacing is pretty solid too, this show came out a few years after season 1 of twd so, the writing will feel pretty similar to early walking dead seasons which is really nice, but definitely give it some time and things will grow on you. This show really is something special if you view it right way
