I dont think season 7 is universally hated, when it originally came out most people were okay with it.

I watched the whole series as it aired and I agree, it wasn’t until season 8 that people started talking about both 7&8 being crappy. Personally I enjoy season 7!

This is the episode where people started to understand that something had gone terribly wrong. The celeb cameo was like something out of South Park.

this is were people start moving around westeros at lighting speed but most like season 7 its season 8 that is hated

ramon carter

true it gets lumped in with 8 because of how much people hated 8

I really liked the hound scenes in this episode - as you mentioned that house is the one him and arya stopped at, the father and daughter welcomed them in, fed them, offered them a place to stay with food in return for help with farm work. However in the morning the hound punched the father and stole his gold/silver, iirc he told arya "they'll be dead come winter, they dont need this (the gold/silver)" So to see him come back here, not even wanting to go in, I think it shows so much growth. Like he feels genuine remorse and guilt over his actions, whereas originally he played it off as "inevitable" to excuse him just acting in his own interested at the direct detriment to others. Obviously no spoilers for anything past here, but I'd argue of all the characters, the hound had the best overall story, character development and writing - above all else he was consistent and every development and change to his persona was thought out and properly shown.

Season 7 I genuinely think is a pretty solid season. Most of peoples criticisms were mostly due to its condensed nature and some aspects of it (wont spoil anything) that didnt make much sense, like for example one thing we've seen already is Varys leaving mereen to meet the tyrells/martells to get them to support Dany - He's travelled quite literally across the entire ocean for that meeting, then all the way back to be with dany to travel to dragonstone in no time at all. So the pacing with that kind of thing is off, something like that in earlier seasons would have taken a season, not a few episodes. Aside from that and some other bits I feel season 7 has some truly great scenes in it, it mostly gets lumped in though when people are talking about season 8. Unfortunately season 8 does get the hate it deserves, if season 1-7 are like a 10/10, then season 8 is about a 3/10 and drags the entire show down to like a 6/10. You'll see why when you watch it, whilst I can watch it back now and kind of enjoy the show as a whole, the last season just kind of pisses over everything the show built and did for all that time On a side note, im looking forward to more GoT content, are you going to start HOTD and AKOTSK after finishing GoT?

When we watch season 4, comments say it's the end of the good seasons When we watch season 6, comments say it's all downhill from here When we watch season 7, comments say it's season 8 that's the real one thats hated When we watch season 8, comments say it's not as bad on a re-watch. Like clockwork.
