When I was first watching The Chosen, some things that helped explain some of the political structure within the Sanhedrin, such as the difference between various factions, (followers of Shammai vs Shimon, for example) were the Bible Roundtables on The Chosen 's website and on The Chosen app. Another was the YouTube channel Grafted, which has reactions on each episode. Shammai was much more strict and led the majority group, the Saducees, who didn't believe in the resurrection. Shimon (son of Hillel) was for reform and emphasized the heart of the follower and the spirit of the law. He led the Pharisees. (Think Pharisees are fair, Saducees are sad!)
