Thrasymachus' Catabasis index

This is the audio for my narrative adaptation of the Thrasymachus reader, called Thrasymachus' Catabasis. I have used the Classical Attic Pronunciation.

This is good stuff !

This is really helpful, Luke. I am looking forward to class next week.

Great Attic pronunciation! Of all the well known speakers your speaking is by far the easiest on the ears . Thanks!

Very kind of you to say, ὦ φίλε! I hope that’s true, but I’ll still endeavor to improve.

This is an extraordinary tool! I read Thrasy with Jonathan Robert’s ALI program. It is a pleasure to read your version sometimes referring to the colorful pictures in my dropbox pdf. It is actually fun

I’m so happy to hear that! It’s really enjoyable to expand on the original; I’ve more than doubled the original text of the chapters written so far. Much of it is giving the mythological context taken for granted by the authors.

I cannot thank you enough for this. Θρασυμάχου Κατάβασις and these recordings make it much, much easier to get into Thrasymachus as an autodidact without a classroom. Thank you!

Hi, maybe I am wrong, but is the question "ιʹ · Τίνας κομίζει ὁ Ἑρμῆς εἰς Ἅ̄ιδου;" correct? I think you used the genitive instead of the accusative

Luke Amadeus Ranieri

It is indeed correct. It is short for εἰς τὴν τοῦ Ᾱ̔́ιδου οἰκίᾱν.

Thanks for the download option. My internet is a bit spotty at present.

Hi Luke, I think there is a typo at page 34, note 36: αὐτου : τοῦ Ἑρμοῦ (the first word needs a circumflex). Btw, I am at a good point with this book and it's the only resource that does work for me; also, incredible in combination with the first (Italian) Athenaze: we know that it's a book with some problems as you said in some videos, but now that I have more confidence reading easy ancient Greek I can read more fluently Athenaze, and it's a great and efficient way to interact with more good Greek as beginners without even marking long vowels (except for medial aspiration in Athenaze). I see that you are still improving the book, and I think that its only little problem is that it needs very few more notes or illustraions on certain specific parts, but sadly I can't be more specific because I don't remember where (maybe I was just distracted or forgot something explained earlier). But it's just a subtle possible improvement: this book is already an excellent work; thanks for the very accurate audio-book with classical Attic (most conservative) pronunciation too. All this is the key to really achieve the language and it's a great opportunity to increase the speakers' number.

This is really super! A fairly long graded reader with audio that is _perfect_ for transcribing by ear. The pronunciation is, actually, just what I have been using (FWIW). And the original _Thrasymachus_ offers more Greek for practice that is graded in just the same way. Thanks very much for this. It's marvelous.

The audio was linked from the Theodōrēī subscription but is no longer listed there. Is it still available? It is GREAT for transcribing from and for repeated listening.
