Hey Luke, Congrats on moving into another ancient language, it's commendable. I myself am still on Ancient Greek and wondered if Season 2 of Ancient Greek in Action was on the way any time soon? For my own selfish desire hehe. All the best brother. Great admiration for you and the work you do. Best, Kelvin

Luke Amadeus Ranieri

Hi Kelvin, thanks! Yes I am working on AGA and LLC material. My intent is to streamline the two series so they moving forward they cover the same basic material, permitting me to use the same basic video with different audio and text for Latin and Greek, and then later for Coptic. But the way I have been doing them up to this point, it takes a whole week or more, full time, just to make one video for AGA or LLC. And I haven’t be able to spare an entire week of work since last year. But they will happen, as they remain the flagship series for SM.

Thank you for the reply Luke. I understand completely and think it's a great plan. Until then I will be patiently waiting. All the best,

C. P.

ⲛⲟϥⲣⲓ ⲡⲁϣⲫⲏⲣ ⲛ ⲙⲁⲑⲏⲧⲏⲥ, ϯⲣⲁϣⲓ ⲉⲙⲁϣⲱ ϫⲉ ⲕⲥⲁⲃⲟ ⲛ ⲧⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉⲙⲛⲭⲏⲙⲓ ϯⲛⲟⲩ! I am very happy that you are now applying your linguistic prowess to the study of Coptic. For the last few years I have been part of a community of learners who have been studying Coptic and Late Egyptian with Christian Casey, postdoc at the Freie Universität in Berlin, who himself studied Egyptology at Brown under James Allen. He has recorded a series of zoom-courses on Sahidic Coptic using Lambdin and on Coptic Phonology using Allen's Coptic, as well as his own course on Late Egyptian by way of Coptic. These are all publicly accessible on his youtube channel ⲧⲁⲛⲥⲏⲃⲉ ⲛⲧⲙⲛⲧⲣⲙⲛⲕⲏⲙⲉ. There is also a discord channel where we discuss all stages of the Egyptian language, share lots of great resources, and have (Sahidic) Coptic and Hieratic reading groups on Zoom. Since the focus there has been mostly on Sahidic Coptic, I'm very happy to see that you are creating videos on Bohairic. I look forward to seeing where this will take you :) Keep up the good work! 𓅱𓍑𓄿𓏭𓏛 = ⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ! Christian

Christian (or any who might see this) how great overall is the dialectal difference within Coptic? For example if you were comfortable with Bohairic, could you read a Sahidic text with no problem/a little guess work or are the differences significant and you'd really have to systematically learn them from Allen's dialect book let's say.
