As you read this, a van full of electricians creeps slowly toward my home, prepared to descend the basement steps like ferrets down a waterslide and rewire the new art studio, bookbindery, and fulfillment center I've been building out for the last three months. Once they've lever-nutted the last of the twelve-gauge Cerrowire into the dozen ceiling lights, and daisy-chained ten grounded quad outlets into a space which once just featured a single, live, unsheathed copper positive from 1913, the buildout will be complete. I'll set up the desks, machines, shelving...and spend the rest of my life wiping demolition residue off all my fancy Japanese pens.

That's my halloween costume...what will you be?

My Halloween costume is: a middle aged man eating fine cheeses in his basement

Achewood

I had some Saint-Marcellin in France that made a lotta sense. Here the closest I can get is "Secret de Lys," and I think the secret is that it's relabeled Saint-Marcellin.

We’ll definitely be having D’Affinois and Rogue River Blue. Rest of menu undetermined but those are the stars.

It's to my chagrin and your benefit that Patreon doesn't let the hoi polloi upload pictures, but believe me when I tell you that I have shaved the scruff into an ill-advised handlebar which, combined with the mullet, lets me do a convincing Lawrence from Office Space. I had to spend $36.75 on a thermal undershirt and pocket tee to complete the ensemble

I'ma work on my Steampunk Smuckles WWI vet costume but I might not be done in time

Achewood

STEAMPUNK SUCKLES I imagine a lot of vacuum hoses

Achewood

Is that a handlebar, or a charlie Chan? I also call it the bad luck horseshoe (because it points down)

Spyguitar

Y'know what, you're right - I had my nomenclature all screwy. It's apparently called a horseshoe - Charlie's didn't go so far down on the sides, and he often paired it with a soul patch

Julie (HiDeeHoGal)

Nothing pleasant huh? Maybe this Handlmeier guy is the poop guy I was thinking of. German cussing is very scatological more than sexual or religious which is why I thought of that initially. Todd's skinny legend era is disturbing because there are no ectomorph squirrels ever, whether they are toxic waste dumps or not. My Halloween costume is someone who could definitely have used another layer on my walk around the park but now has cutely wind tousled hair and pinched pink cheeks from the wind. Classic gray and chilly end to the month.

oh the good lord will provide

Ray Smuckles: a man of many hypothetical ear prostheses

Weird to see Zappa show up in an Achewood strip. The way Chris throws shade at so many of my favorite musicians and bands I never expected even a passing nod to ol' Frank.

Achewood

We’re doing a coffee table book in ‘27

Achewood

My costume is this enormous Home Depot where I can’t find sawhorses I like

Achewood

Just happy to help. Next, maybe the ouroboros?

Achewood

Hey man, I get with Shakedown Street and The Cure as much as anything. We rib those we love, no? I mean, Frank’s music is a tough sell for me, but I like him intellectually.

Jimbobalinski

I was referring more to The Grateful Dead and Robert Fripp more than anything. I don't think I ever listened to The Cure since goth culture never really existed where I lived. I didn't have any peers who listened to punk all that much, either. Prog Rock and Jam Bands, though? Yeah, there was a lot of that. Allman Brothers are kind of a gateway drug in that regard.

My costume was a man eating far too many chili dogs while watching the original 1954 Gojira and waiting for trick or treaters. Only 5 this year, but I'm still stuck in tradition at Halloween, jack-o-lanterns, my infamous 12 chilie chili (eaten in chili dog form), candy and Gojira. I have given up on the traditional bottle of bourbon, but thanks to the chili dogs and terrible candy I still feel terrible the next day.

Sedric and Charlie

Every so often Achewood will serve up a true body horror abomination. WWI Veteran Ray is as close as I think we'll get to Zdzisław Beksiński's fanart of Achewood (yes I did cut-and-paste that, I ain't remembering the code for that diacritic L)
