Old Uncle George has been on ice for seventeen years, so it's about time we pulled everybody's favorite ineffectual little elder-cat out of retirement...and gave Aunt Nina some peace. Word has it he's been learning to do small projects with concrete, like making his-n-hers semi-permanent parking blocks in the driveway — "Just'a like they got at the Macy's!"

Nina scowls and closes the curtain as he smiles and waves next to his creations, the cement spatters still wet on his old trousers.

"Oh well," he thinks. "Maybe she angry to-day. Who can know?"

He enjoys a glass of Crystal Light powdered lemonade — he can save money by mixing it thin — and basks in the sense of accomplishment.

Sedric and Charlie

In reading the actual strip I had thought to myself, yes, Enya, the foremost Greek singer in popular music. I now realise I was thinking of Nana Mouskouri

Julie (HiDeeHoGal)

Uncle George must have a siren response to someone too. Who on earth could it be? And dang you for getting the correct product. Straight plain lemonade with half the powder seems very much his style.

Just... just please give me eleven or twelve more examples of Uncle George doing a bewildering overconfident job of describing Superman. "Superman? He'a the one who makea the canned ravioli, yes?" "Superman? He bringa the puppet boy to life, yes?"

Achewood

Superman? I no know he, but he sound’a Greek!

Bruce Wright

Greeks are basically just grumpy Italians (can confirm)

Douglas Wykstra

This obfuscates the chronology: grumpy Italians gradually incorporated Greek grumpiness into their own culture.

Douglas Wykstra

Superman being "the one whose dog is a good boy, yes?" is actually how most Americans would describe him at this point.

Bruce Wright

Also known as “Hellenization”

Achewood

My dad previewed a scene from the latest Superman remake and the dog was actually a very bad boy. He wrecked a lot of stuff. It made me mad that Hollywood is pro-bad-dog. Hollywood and their crazy agendas!

Achewood

I misread this as saying that Greeks are just lumpy Italians and I was like, "It's going to get spicy in the comments today."

Achewood

Strangely, it's Flo the Progressive Insurance Lady — she sang to him in an armchair dream once, and he woke up completely without testosterone.

Achewood

Somebody mentioned her in the comments on the main strip, to which I replied, "I listened to some Nana Mouskouri just now and kept expecting the Bellagio to burst out of my fireplace and wash across a mirrored Bugatti"

Book of Days is an all-time banger

Anthony Thompson

Thanks for the smooth chuckles; cold potato diet got right up my nose and aerated it!

“Superman? His prices too low, they arrest him?”

I love that Uncle G is wearing those pants about 'mid pocket' as is the custom of his time.

"Superman? He make'a soup, yes?"

Doc G

"Nina! He SAYS this!" ...I love this guy
