Pat's original idea for the "ethical" part of Ethical Karmicrickets had them voluntarily wandering into a small box that contained high concentrations of carbon dioxide, which gave them embolisms. Since crickets can't sense embolisms, this was officially humane, but still struck him as ethically dubious. In the end, he came up with a process wherein the hungry bugs walked into a tub of melted carob which had been labeled "Pat's," wherein the "thieving" crickets perished.

I'd be willing to try the Tadpole Temptations, even though I dont owe him one

Achewood

We make ours overnight with coconut cream, cinnamon, and sweetener.

I assume that there was no room left in the strip, but oh my God I love the reveal of Pat finally cashing his chip.

Achewood

Yeah, it was going to be the last panel but the strip was already way too busy, and it felt like "selling past the close"

I like chia products and probably do owe Pat one somewhere in the multiverse.

Imagining young Pat trying to coordinate honeybees by sheer assholetry to 3D print something stupid instead of doing their usual comb thing. But IT'S NOT VEGAN GOD DAMN IT.

Eat at Pat's, get hella gas, get saved by Pat. The vicious cycle.

Bill

The Tadpole Temptations are absolutely going to wind up in the aquarium gift shop.

Tadpole Temptations is both terrible marketing, and an accurate portrayal of the texture of chia pudding. Still less gross than Karmicrickets.

Nate

I actually love the jump to present day where Pat is still milking an ancient fart-debt, but choosing only one nonsensical Pat-Product(TM) is too laborious.

Ah, I remember making chia-seed pudding! The first time I made it I soaked the chia seeds in milk for about an hour or two before eating it, and paid for this mistake gruesomely the next day. Somehow I still made chia pudding after but soaked the seeds overnight, because I'm a generous guy but one who learns his lesson occasionally.

"Don't murder your darlings, re-home-them" -- somebody I saw once on Tumblr. Bless the b-sides for preserving great jokes cut for time.

Cacao powder, skim milk (it's what we got), and Stevia. Mix with Greek yogurt and blueberries and bam, it's either that or Grape Nuts Flakes for my weight-loss breakfast from a few years ago.
