O, had it been a long car ride with a low radio since the guys just went around and did bullshit comics stuff, and O was it time. Remember, sometimes the purest form of a comic strip is just to drive it straight into the wall, for the pure joy of it. Every comic don't got to be Fantaisie-Impromptu in C-Sharp Minor all the time, all solving every problem in the world. Sometimes it is a Hohner Les Paul from the third-floor window to see if you can hit a watermelon. Fuck Yes.

Ryan Boyle

I vote yes to more Chickpeaness

Bruce Wright

googlebot claims Pat Benatar "helped define rock music in the 1970s and 1980s," although frankly I did not notice this at the time

blair

I'm all in favor of comics with occlusive jokes.

Achewood

Very on-brand, Mr. Boyle. Very on-brand.

Achewood

Well, I mean, millions of people helped define America. Even me! I painted my house kind of an off-white, forever changing the American landscape. Oh, and I landscaped a little.

How Else Will We Learn What Doesn't Work. And Which Things That Don't Work Still Work For Certain Confusing People.

Josh Egbert

You did indeed answer why Emeril would be there. Thank you.

Achewood

The only way out is HRRRRRAAAAGH

Amelia Hall

I really like Emeril's backstory, somehow it feels right to see him having a honky tonk good time.

Jeff Norman

Rock stars are actually more like dictionary editors than one might think.

"Fellows Of Shared Essence" Ramada Inn Business Brunch Suite 2C - 3pm

Glenn Ramsy

I'm stealing your $5 word, pard. *occlusive*.

Bungus Bronbo

My vote is "Yes," unless "yes" is in the lead, in which case I vote "No." In the event of a tie, I'd like to change my vote to "abstain."

Jake McIntyre

I appreciate that from the outset, "men's comedian Theo Von" was a loadbearing element that didn't need workshopping or revision. It is a perfect ... descriptor!

Spyguitar

Emeril is a... window ghost? Also am I the only one who likes Emeril?

Glenn Ramsy

The best artists strive to alienate their audiences with obtuse and unrelatable creations*. You're getting there. -Slowly- *Like Pynchon, or E.L. James

I vote for more Chickpeaness, but only if Todd can (somehow) get involved and COMPLETELY fuck things up.

Julie (HiDeeHoGal)

It can refer to the optical illusion where a lit screen projected from inside a dark room creates a ghostly figure visible from the street. Chronically online kind of thing. Emeril was the kind of guy who I would find out had a crush on me in junior high (he also being junior high age not current age) so like is a strong word but he seems familiar and pretty harmless. Unless he starts listening to manosphere podcasts.

Zen Window

The best thing about picking up a homeless poly couple is that afterward you can drop them off wherever!

Matt Mitchell

Check you out w the very specific Chopin ref, kudos. I whipped that out fairly recently. My vote re Chickpeaness is that you don’t let audience preference dictate your artistic direction. Unless…you wish your artistic direction to include occasional feedback, in which case I suppose I could easily imagine the collaborative product resulting in a discursive journey that sets off a completely unrelated series of events that lands everyone at point Q.

Achewood

I like to imagine either group would rage pretty hard given a bottle of ether and a leather vest

This is a game where victories are measured in declining subscriber numbers. Sign a friend up today!

Achewood

We never see the gang at his house though due to zydeco.

Achewood

Makes me want to see if Akkolade and Bensington are in there

Achewood

We'll just mark you down as "likely to burst in with a firearm"

Achewood

"loadbearing element," I like that. If I ever teach comics workshops, that'll be in the glossary. Sounds all smart.

Achewood

I spontaneously wrote a Todd strip yesterday. It was easy, because I had a terrible combination of words pop into my head upon seeing a certain type of website.

Achewood

Oh, he knows. Ultra Peanut broke that little boy in two.

Achewood

And now tell us the worst thing

C C

Yeah.

Lyle did not need tickets, he sourced all the mud for the whole weekend. He got the gig by claiming it was all natural organic 'slip' from historic Willamette Valley river banks. Really Lyle had just convinced his friend Triple Joe to lend him his old truck for two hours, Lyle just went to the the an old boat dock by Tyron creek where he filled up up the bed of the truck with the easiest mud he shovel..

Zen Window

the society that collectively decided that it no longer would prioritize helping those who most needed help allowing anyone to be homeless

Achewood

Seems like a perfectly apt comment with which to put a bow in this exceptionally unusual week.

Achewood

You whipped Chopin’s Fantaisie out with your fingers, on a piano, or at the stop light, in your ‘83 jag? I think you know I’d never let content come down to a vote. I’m fishing for temperatures regardless of how I cook the catch.

Achewood

The mind races at the idea of Triple Joe. I’m already picturing wide Carhartt suspenders, no shirt, stiff and stained stagged jeans, washing hands with gasoline.

Matt Mitchell

I assumed as much re content. We all trust you, whatever you choose to do, obviouslyz Whipped out w fingers on a piano. I play piano for a living.

Achewood

What what wahahahaaaat?! Dogg you go to announce your gigs here, tell the people n o w

Matt Mitchell

That’s extremely kind of you. I’ll sporadically take you up on it, otherwise it will get old for everyone quickly! I’ll actually be in the PNW in a couple weeks but only in Spokane and then San Francisco. Then Portugal the week after. Rest of the summer is all NYC area gigs. I’m a jazz musician

C C

He lives at the Pick and Pull he inherited from his uncle Jeff, it's got a couch in the office and color TV that picks up most of the local stations.

Achewood

I see it. I see it. No hair on top, but unkempt sides, walrus stache. Squints hard and almost changes color getting off couch in morning, but a shit ain’t a phone bill, you can’t put that flag back down.

Gozan

I think Emeril seems like the type to have unsuccessfully tried to learn to play the frottoir, assuming it is possible to be unsuccessful at learning to play the frottoir. It's an instrument with an absurdly low skill ceiling, is what I'm saying

Achewood

Au contraire, he is quite good, his talent arising from one day simply using the frottoir to balance his finger nails, but the rhythm that did arise was most pleasant, and invited he soon was to sit with the band.

FactWino

More Toddddddddddd!

Julie

I'm late to the game but it really sounds like y'all are describing the Crenshaw character from the MST3K "Boggy Creek II" episode. You should watch it if you haven't, it's a fun one.
