A freshly-bathed Ray wanders in and discovers Pat, who is suffering from the more acute form of "couch-lock" known as rug-bug. And Pat is anything but snug.

It is my sincere hope that someone takes row number two and turns it into a pleasant little animation.

That row definitely needs to come to life. Would there be a song accompanied or is would it be just the rushing sound of blood

Jay Williams

“am i really just totally worthless?” No, Pat, you actually do have value. Just like there is sealed in an airtight glass jar in Geneva the official exemplar of a gram weight, you are the official exemplar of the asshole unit of measurement. And there has to be some value to that.

Conclude the internet 😹😹

that is just what this friday the thirteenth needs

Having one’s doodie zoomed is the worst fear of many modern people

The Pat Redemption Arc was black flagged before the first lap finished

Rory Cleveland

My new identity is “the asshole this crew needs.”

That first panel is an all-timer

Oppido

Independently of your comment, I read Ray's dialogue in panel three and thought, "This is some all-timer dialogue." Big day for the top row, here.

Oppido

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first time we've seen Pat's actual eyes, and it only took 22 years. Looking forward to glimpsing Ramses' sclera in 2045.

Still unsure how I feel about no-glasses Pat.

Pat's getting Lonis Edison hair. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Bungus Bronbo

Man, we've all been in the cringe situation of our asshole friend finally seeing himself as he truly is and grappling with the existential question of if he is inherently worth loving, or if he can ever be worthy of love. Maximum cringe.

Clench and Cheese

"Daddy, how did the internet end?" "Well, Sally, there was this one video that did it." "What was the video, Daddy?" "Ray Smuckles wearing a dingus hat and wiping from the front followed by a close-up of his hella sick stew cloggin' the bowl."

True Tales of the Illuminati

The eyes in this have a real "Oh No! I'm going to be late for my job...at the alarm clock company!" vibe and I love it

Jarret Cooper

And things were never the same once we seen that dude's stew.

'Asshole grooves' is how I will heretofore describe Ted Nugent songs.

Maybe it's the leftover psilocybin from last weekend but I burst out laughing at DO YOU THINK HE ZOOMED MY DOODIE. Goddamn that was funny and perfectly illustrated. Good stuff.

Chris Martin

Pat made his friend tell him he loves him. What a prick!

David Kettler

Love the symmetry of Ray's comment here with Ron's from the last one. It's the message Pat needs to hear.

drrockso20

pretty good, would be even better if it looped back and forth between high and sober

Tom Morris

I do not like the way this is going!

Finbar Clougherty

Feels right that Pat is simultaneously a massive grade-A asshole and a complete loser

Oppido

Is it weird that between Ron last week and Ray now, I actually feel kind of bad for Pat? In the last panel here, he's both completely correct in what he says to Ray AND telling Ray what he needs to hear. And his breakthrough last week was an instance of genuine self-awareness and remorse, maybe even growth. But in both cases, he gets dismissed as bush league and boring. It's not like Griftin' Ron and Gettin'-Grifted Ray have any particular moral or intellectual high ground on this one.

Blue Delliquanti

really didn't think this would be the vehicle in which I'd learn that dudes wiped the other way

Zerox 5

Pat was almost there in panel 1.

This is truly top tier

doodie zoomers need not apply

Amit Katz

Pat just cannot help himself, he has to be an asshole in every situation. No matter how far he runs, he can't outrun himself.

Vijnananath

My asshole friend cried with his head on my lap while he was both more drunk and more on cocaine than any man should be and he asked me, point blank, if he was evil. Neither of us felt satisfied after.

Douglas Wykstra

I think what's crucial to the fact of Ray and Pat's friendship, more than anything Ray tells Pat about what makes him valuable, is that when Pat tries to manipulate Ray, Ray just says, "nah, I'm not gonna do that." Ray is either not wired to feel betrayal from stuff like that, or he's known Pat long enough that he doesn't expect anything more.
