What’s up Whovians… and Shan hehe Hope you’re having a good 2026. The Doctor has encountered Silurians (Sy-lur-re-ans) before but it was back during classic Who so nothing to worry about. This story is set in 2020… to be fair there’s no way Moffat would have saw International Lockdown coming - 2020 was a little different for us humans in the real world but at least we did have a lot of time to rewatch Dr Who during lockdown some of us for the first time. Amy and Rory see future versions of themselves in 2020 from a distance, which as we all know wouldn’t happen because they would be wearing masks if they were even allowed outside at all. Karen G put her fear and claustrophobia into the scene where she was dragged underneath the earth 10/10 no notes. Matt Smith celebrated his twenty-seventh birthday during the filming of this episode. Originally, Mo and Amy were to be stripped down to their underwear before being dissected. This was removed because it was seen as "too adult". Robert Pugh would later play Craster on Game of Thrones. Basically everyone on this show has either been on Thrones or Harry Potter. UK ratings 4.5 million on the overnight, part 1 banger, we’ve set the pins. Drink some water, take your meds, have fun

When I first saw this in 2010 and noticed that the date was 2020, I had no idea the crazy year we would be in for when that year arrived. Feels weird rewatching something from ages ago that showed what they thought life would be like in the future, only for it to happen differently. It does remind me of Back to the Future Part II, when we saw 2015 in that film.

I don't suppose anyone has seen the trailer for the new Harry Potter show?

Interestingly, the Silurians kind of predicted actual science. They premiered in old Doctor Who in 1970. Then in 1982, a Canadian palaeontologist named Dale Russell came up with a hypothetical humanoid dinosaur, the dinosauroid, that he suggested small predatory dinosaurs might have evolved into if they had survived. It looked... quite a bit like a Silurian. Its outdated science now though- the most intelligent predatory dinosaurs were feathered critters, so a dinosauroid would likely have had feathers (perhaps not a full coat, but similar to human hair), not just scales.
