Yeah, real shocker, they killed off 1 of the 5 main characters. Yes, there are a bunch of other repeat characters. But the show started with the five interns and now there are four left. I can see George jumping in to save a woman from a bus. His character was always the type to sympathize, to come the weaker persons rescue, and to care for others. When in a situation where he sees and young woman about to get crushed by a bus. I think his character, with only a second to act, would have instinctively, jumped in to save her without thinking about it. While his character was not perfect, I did like George and I will miss him on the show. There are some interesting reactions on YouTube to his death, some Very strong ones. I liked how the show broke this episode up in segments representing the 5 stages of death. It seems every time I go to the funeral of someone I care deeply for, I end up at one point or another in a group of people, laughing our heads off about something. I imagine it has something to do with all the emotional endorphins rushing through the body that amplifies all your emotions, laughter as well as grief. I know we supposed to empathize with the Aussie that lost her arms, but no one calls Lexie a Bitch. Fuck her. Derek did kind of throw Alex and Izzy out of Meredith's house, but he also gave them his trailer to live in. This gives them much more privacy which is why they appeared to be ok with it. I really feel for Torres, but I don't think Webber had a choice. Since the guy didn't retire that she was to replace, as he was supposed to, Webber didn’t have a place to put her as a Fellow He can't have 2 heads of the department. Torres could have held on for 1 more year as an attending. But I get her not wanting to hurt her career by taking a position beneath her skill level. Just bad timing. He is under pressure by a Board that wants to fire him while at same time everything is collapsing around him. Interns (one he cared about a lot) dying, Doctors ordering expensive test that the hospital has to absorb which will destroy his budget, marriage issues, Doctors quitting. A lot going on. He really should take a step back like he wanted to before and let Derek or one of the others take the spot while he gets his life together. Cause right now, he is losing it.

I was never a fan of George and especially in s5 it felt like he didn’t really have anything to do as a character, but i do think his death was pretty sad still. The scene with them all laughing is a call back to an earlier episode when Izzie mentioned that she always laughs at funerals. I think it was the episode with the bomb. I think they’re probably right in that george would have donated everything. Honestly i will say though that i find it a bit weird that George’s mum asked Callie to be the one to decide. Looking back at it now their marriage feels even more strange than it did at the time. Cute scene between Mark and Lexie talking about George’s death. I continue to think i they work well together even though they really shouldn’t! Yet again Richard takes out his insecurities on someone else. This time on Callie. I don’t agree with the way they went about it but I can’t disagree with the board that maybe Richard has to step down. Been a long time coming considering the plot of the pilot was his impending retirement…
